Hey guys! Just letting you know Lee Ritenour has a sweepstakes contest going on right now. You can win a Yamaha Acoustic Electric Guitar, Monster® Turbine Professional In-Ear Speakers, or even 110 Electric Guitar Strings. The contest is in collaboration with their new album, 6 String Theory. Check it out! Concordmusicgroup(DOT)com/FreeDownload/6stringtheory
Paulinho da Costa completely steals the show and "makes" one of the best instrumentals I've ever heard, the Brothers Johnson's Celebration song from the Light Up the Night album. The key? Quincy Jones. Who recognized his talent and continued to use him over and over and made him a mainstay of his musical team.
Olly I kind of agree with you but I don't think it necessarily ruins the entire song but his little solo or whatever the hell yo u wanna call it before he counts the band back in is awful! I mean, what the hell was he even doing....?
I'm watching his second little solo thing right now and it's a little bit better than the first one... I just don't understand why they had PDC even do that in this song....it felt like it didn't fit you know what I mean?
I think he's playing a solo for the sake of it (because he s there). However I do love the guitar and sax after hes finished!
If you want a better version of this you can find it on spotify by the way. If you dont know what spotify is google it - might not be available in your country.
I saw a Sergio Mendes concert in Manila and Paulinho DaCosta was the band's percussionist then...he did the same routine. He's still at it after 30 years. It's still a treat to see him do it.
Lets see..Rit, Da Costa, Jackson, Mason, Witham, & Watts? Sounds like a master clinic to me. There is more class and talent on this stage than I could conjure up just about anywhere.
wallaaaaa nice!

They are all bad, but is Paulinho Da Costa the greatest perccusionest of all time. Much respect to Mongo Santamaria also.

Alex is a better drummer than in percussion. (my opinion) But all the South American boys are great, LOL.
Mongo is the father of them all.
