  • I turned all my lights on and I'm proud!

  • This video is funny. The climate of earth has been changing for billions of years, Now all of a sudden it is something new. The climate of earth will still be changing long after man is gone from the earth.

  • @slinky460 even if you don't believe in global warning, u can still turn off your lights. See it this way u cansay on ur bill at the end of the month.. xD

  • @slinky460 wow no one knew that professor! natural variations were established in what the 1800's? It is well accounted for...

  • @slinky460 it has NEVER changed this fast. the changes in the atmosphere happened over millions, billions of years. the earths temperature has risen by three degrees in 50 years. How is that okay?

  • It was the Best Hour on my LIFE!

I WILL NEVER FORGETT THIS WONDERFULL MOMENT!

  • Please turn on your computer.

In the Netherlands, no one has been lights out. All bastards. Netherlands does not count unfortunately.

But I do it. Close all your PC now.

  • But the times are different in every country :\

  • Instead of launching such silly campaigns (you actually *increase* CO2 emissions with all those candles -- power companies won't reduce production for this 1 hour), the WWF Australia should rather see to it that Australia turns from coal power to solar power -- they have more than enough sunshine, but hardly use it. OZ has even higher per-capita GHG emissions than USA! Talk about saving the planet...

  • @ccd101 its suppose to be symbolic duh... everyone knows the 1 hour and what happens within it dosent change anything but the whole point is to make people think

  • @Xirus5

"it dosent change anything but the whole point is to make people think"

So, what are people supposed to think? "If I (even if thousands) turn off the lights then it doesn't change anything"? ;-/

  • @ccd101 There is a difference between changing something physically and mentally.. this whole thing is about sending a message and everything that goes on in that 1 hour is part of the message.. but ye it is an expensive commercial as you said.. i guess the world thinks we need to be reminded

  • yewww go sydney and wwf!!!!!!!!!! im so proud of being a sydney sider :)

  • lima peru presente para el apagon por una horaaa

  • @annemelaas fix you by coldplay ?

  • wow.... great work people... climate change is something to think about, it will change our global culture and world living dramatically by 2040...

beautiful cities... well done to all.. apart from Vegas,, shame one arrogant hotel had to ruin the silhouette..

  • OMG... LOOK at night satellite images of India, Eastern-China, Japan, Eastern USA and Europe..... holy shit you people have wayyy wayyy too many people... don't breeding you filth bags... the earth has enough people

  • Lol... look at Africa... it has the biggest population of about 2billion people and yet hardly any lights... Good Work ... its almost an empty continent good work

  • @paddlepopkid Africa is NOT 2 Billion People man !

Their Population is about 1 Billion. Thats much smaller than India's or China's.

  • earth hour = naptime lol

  • Australia has one of the highest CO2 emissions per capita and is not going to change anything about this. Earth hour is a farce to make people feel good about themselves. It's not going to make any difference, it is just diverting from the real problems

  • @klarsch12 It's not about making a change on that night. It's about making a statement to our government to represent that the people of our country want change.

  • @klarsch12 actually your right.. we do have very high CO2 emmissions... and its a major point at this years federal election... its a simple fact, that it cost more to use renewable resources here. Australian Universities actually lead the world in most scientific studies, including climate change, but we sell our innovations and ideas to Germany, Japan, China and USA... because everythings to expensive to make happen, we only have 20million people.. where's the tax coming from..?

  • @cttn101 It is good that Australia is rethinking it's position on CO2 . You are right that alternative sources of energy are more costly, but this problem is not unique to Australia. You are even close to the producer countries like China, Singapore, Japan. Total population is irrelevant, renewable are easier to use in low populated areas. Manufacturing in Australia is also not more expensive than in Europe.

The main issue is lack of political will, a strong mining industry and very cheap coal.

  • Great video, I never realised how many people actually took part in this.

  • Have a look at the Dave Maton Earth Hour 2010 song on YouTube. That's a different but valid view of Earth Hour.

  • What's the name of the song playing video

  • Fix You by ColdPlay

a search engine that is dedicated to rainforest preservation. saves 2 square meters of rainforest per search!

    -> ecosia. org

check it out, tell your friends, and set it as your browser home page

  • Hey - i'm sure we can make a whole day for it, like they do in Bali once a year. In ancient mexico, once every 104 years where all fires are also extinguished throughout the land, imagine that. One hour surely ain't enough
