  • I love this!

  • the way Christmas should be today...... we have forgotten what we are celebrating....... Jesus Birthday.... tell you children to wish Jesus a happy birthday...

  • See how far we strayed off the path ! Then it was a belief and now it's self indulgence my god have mercy on our souls

  • @TheLordBarker Amen! As my screen name indicates.

  • @TheLordBarker your so right.

  • Thumbs up if you still go to church at Christmas!

  • 1950, my first Christmas, thank you for posting the celebrations in other countries.

  • 1950 was AWESOME

  • That was real nice....THX!!!

  • I like the way of the boy kissing his mom it's very worm .

  • 0:42. They forgot to shovel the snow on the church steps. Grandma could fall and sue the church.

  • Hey! Somebody forgot the shovel the snow on the New England church steps!

Nowadays somebody would file a lawsuit.

  • Grazie a te che hai messo questo video , te lo dico veramente con il cuore in mano .

  • Korea was NOT the place tobe for Xmas in 1950!!

  • This is when Christmas wasn't about kids wanting Xbox's, Ipod's, Playstation's, Mini motorbikes or the latest in thing to have. This is the real Christmas right here. Shame we have forgotten what it's really about

  • @richieh1980 Shame that you've forgotten that Christmas was first a Pagan holiday. :P

  • @snailkiss25 Shame on you that you have forgotten the spirit of the holiday and feel the need to be ugly on this person's YouTube Channel.

  • Good to see this.

I am old enough to remember Christmas in 1950. It was a hopeful and exciting time.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I can't stop watching this video; it is so beautiful.

  • It was not a perfect world in 1950. Yet they still found the capacity to hope. Can we not do the same in a much better time?

  • great video... it was a happier time I guess

  • I give this 5***** This is absolutely beautiful!!!!!! Thank you :)

  • Beautiful thanks for sharing. Love it!

    Donna

  • Peace on Earth. Good will to men. Happy X-mas 2009 & a more Happier 2010. : )

  • Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

  • Do you know that Silent Night is NOT an American or English Christmas carol? It was written by the Austrian priest Father Josef Mohr and the melody was composed by the Austrian headmaster Franz Xaver Gruber in 1859!!

  • Yes, Paul.

    We know.

  • This would have been my very first Christmas. London 1950

  • This would have been my very first Christmas.

  • the japanese family and the mexican family make me tear up for some reason but the whole video is *beautiful*

im 23 years old and christmas has always been about christ for us.through the years wehave had tough christmases and christmases with abundance but every single year we attend mass and give thanks.

  • Thank you for sharing this with everyone, aeroeffensmith. The same thing happened with me, the first time I watched this video. When I was young, Christmas was more about the birth of our Savior Christ than anything else. It's truly sad the way things have changed over the years for the worst, and now it is all about greed.

  • its all greed now

  • I was born in 1956 and seeing this reminded me of how we saw the world and cherished the birth of The Light of the World. As I wipe the tear from my face I cannot help but feel that today we have lost the way.

  • mistersister,

I'm 45 and my parents Baptized my brother and me but they didn't take us to church. My mother wasn't raised going to church and my father went to Catholic school. I don't think that the world was necessarily better in 1950 [with the exception that WWII was over].

It's up to those of us who are in Christ Jesus to share the Gospel.

How can people know the Way, the Truth and the Life, our Lord and Savoir Jesus, if Christians do not live like they are a children of God?

  • I can't agree with you, more mistermister44.

Just yesterday, I was thinking about this video. I was born in 1955, and I was thinking about how parts of the world have all but removed the true meaning of Christmas-the birth of our Savior--from sight. Sadly, it is now nothing but a day that people take advantage of for their own selfish reasons.

  • Beautiful!...Thank you

  • This was when Christmas was all about Christ. It still is in our family. Deo Gratias.

  • It's just a Christmas mood piece. lighten up people. I'm not Christian but I have great memories of Christmas in the 50's and 60's.

  • Beautiful! Thanks for posting.

  • This humbles me, it makes me yearn for days long gone. It is Beautiful!

  • I would love to go back to this time.....other than the racial injustice, it was a good time

  • the brotherhood of man except muslims

  • What a wonderful video!It's so beautiful!

Remind me to a wonderful time! Thanks for sharing!

  • Very moving.

  • Anyone who can get through this without crying their eyes out would have to have a heart of stone.

  • Its true ,we all went to church on sundays and holidays,we were good christians and following the teachings of your lord and savior Jesus Christ who taught us to love our enemies, turn the other cheek, hate the sin but love the sinner. Its these demoralizing teachings that have weakened our nation, our people, and look how pwerful the muslims and jews are, they dont beleive in the values of forgiveness .Christianity is mass insanity.

  • actually christianity is learning who christ is by him living in our hearts what we see today is man's idea of what christ is, which is insanity.

  • If Christ is insane, then I too am insane for I too believe in the teachings of Christ...In the end, Christ and NO ONE ELSE will judge me...

  • Less than 60 years ago, entire families went to church together. Prayed together. Family values were more important. Kids respected their parents, and dad made enough money without having to work weekends. People really need to, on their own, start praying again for a return to a faith-based society as this film reminds us that America once was. Do people even remember that America was founded by Christians?

  • less than 60 years ago? you say that as though it was yesterday, you re going back before TV was widespread and people only believed what they heard from authority figures.

  • @copacabana1971 I agree! It is such a shame to see Western Civilization abandon the faith that made it great.

  • My grandparents were 11 in 1950, and 16 in 1955. My God, what a time to be young.. This was when America was GREAT...

  • Not really --- a lot of the values back then were much better, but those were also times when racism wasn't dealt with very well. Blacks were discriminated against in many ways, and women too. Other than that, it was much better...

  • yeah but it was a good time to be a white guy

  • Not exactly, it was the time of creativity, social and cultural. A decade where tradition and real change held hands for the good.

  • Comment removed

  • I Know, right! If we could return to the traditions of the 50's leaving out the racial inequities and polio - it'd be the closet thing to perfection in America.

  • Beautiful and sad at the same time. To live in those days would be wonderful.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. It made me cry... cry for what our children are missing. Thank God for our domestic Church where Catholic parents can rear their children with the real meaning of Christmas. I'm reminded of what Christ said, "When I return will I find Faith?". Too bad most people nowadays have no idea what they are missing.

  • ... sorry, but i miss germany ... and what have you been without your christmas without the germanchristmasfeeling ... there is one day in a year theres nobody think about bad thinks ... no war, no terrible fights ... its peace for this day on earth! ... thats we think so ... sorry, i´m german!

  • Awesome video my friend. Thank you so much for posting it for everyone to enjoy.

  • I would give my eye teeth to have America back, like we were in these days. You didn't have people trying to remove Christmas from Christmas, Nativity Scenes from parks, and so forth, and people tried so hard to get along with each other, and love your neighbor. This makes me cry just watching the images, and hearing the true meaning of Christmas( Jesus Christ)in these carols, behind these scenes.

We will never return to these days, though. America as we knew it is, gone... forever, sadly.

  • I had found this video by mistake, Thank You, it was a sort of time capsule of good faith.. now the people practice military exercises and dance on the streets saying death to a country or burning a flag.. but Thank You I know for each abd there is many good god bless every one

  • very very nice!

  • Quit ruining everyone's fun, iheartbub. Thanks.

  • This was a sweet video -- my grandparents' childhood memories of Christmas must have been great. Of course the movie did completely leave out a continent or two, but then again, it was the 50's.

  • I love this. Thanks so much for posting. Please don't ever take it down.

  • Oh ye of little faith! Let us be so we can enjoy these wonderful Christmas songs and traditions. This is what is RIGHT with us where there is so much that is WRONG. Please, no harsh words, please be kind. Peace! :)

  • Thanks so much for these!

  • Christians are allowed to be Christians! But there are many MAN MADE religions (Like Christianity) on the planet! Christians like to believe that THEY are the only good, honest, forthright, pure and saved people in the entire world. Fortunately for all of us, THEY ARE NOT - Because real Christians believe that ALL "good people" (no matter which MAN MADE religion they belong to) will go to heaven. Spirituality we are BORN with, Religion is MAN MADE. Wars are started by hardcore Religious beliefs.

  • You are wrong. Christians do not believe that they will go to heaven because they are good. They believe that Jesus is the son of God, that he died on the cross for ALL of our sins, and that He rose again. For the wages of sin is death and the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus. He paid the price, we simply receive the gift by receiving Him. Christians are not "good". They are forgiven.

  • 40 years ago Christians had a very different take than they do today. Catholics sounded more like what you're saying. The trinity has been basterdized...

  • Amen and Amen!

  • Can't see anything on youtube without people climbing on a soap box!

  • @luridplanet

Gotta give these people a break. This is the only medium where people pay attention to them.

  • You might as well re-name Christmas "SANTAMAS", because no one seems to believe in Jesus Christ anymore.

And if us Christians mention how Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, who gave his life for us, we get attacked and ridiculed. Of course, it's their loss. We can't force them to believe what we believe, so all we can do is keep our faith, pray for those who refuse to accept the truth, and live our lives as well as we can.

  • Amen & Amen!!!

  • It doesn't say ANYWHERE in the Bible that Jesus was born on December 25th. Many Bible scholars have said time and time again that Jesus was born in the springtime due to the fact that the animals were grazing around the time Jesus was born.

Christmas is a Pagan holiday, btw. So is Easter. Ever wonder wtf bunny has to do with Jesus? The Pagan Goddess EASTER resembles a hare. Ever wonder what easter eggs resemble or why Pagans still celebrate Easter to this day? The eggs symbolize fertility.

  • I am a christian and actually this person is right. It doesn't matter to me tho

  • Hear, here, wilkes85! The liberals and left are succeeding at removing Jesus Christ before our very eyes. People are expected to say "happy holidays" or "season's greetings" so as not to "offend". But, people are forgetting that they are offending God, and Christians, in doing this.

  • Remember this date quite well. Spent it aboard the USS Okanogan APA220 in Inchon Korea. Recall our small Christmas tree someone brought aboard.

  • That must have been one proud Christmas Tree to have the duty of bringing joy to men so far from home and their loved ones at Christmas. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for your your service to our wonderful nation. God Bless You.

  • I envy my parents for growing up in this generation... the days before nintendo and tickle me elmos and commercialism altogether. Beautiful montage.

  • Not all people of faith are bad-! religion has helped the world in many, many ways-

    And, we still carol-

because God so loved the world-

  • Beautiful vision of the world before it was poisoned by the 'progressive' 1960s.

  • what do You mean?

  • The verb "poison" is subjective but the world indeed changed dramatically in the 1960s, politically and socially.

  • Actually, "the church" and the historical collective agendas and power struggles of various people in parts of the world, still run everything and propagate prejudice, division, and self- righteous judgment, and hatred amongst their brainwashed followers.

  • Hi There Stumbled Upoun Yuur Video By Accident But Was Plesealtley Suprised Fantastic Video *Laughs* even though it has just gone christmas this is 17th of january my christmas different feel right and i think its beacause it didnt have enough of this i know this sounds strange for a teenager to say in this day and age but why cant life be like this??

    Thank-You For This Video!

    Amber . G

  • I grew up in the 70s, not the 50s, but I remember people coming to our house the week before Christmas and carolling to us - carolling ! Nobody does that anymore and it was the coolest thing ever. Things sure have changed, and definitely not for the better.

  • If people went caroling this year, the people inside the house would assume that the carrollers were trying to force religion upon them, and they would phone the cops.

Man, the old days must have been great, you know, back when people were allowed to be Christian,

Now we gotta live with athiest propoganda, and if we object to them trashing our faith, we become the bad guys.

  • hear hear

  • What a treat to view this footage. Thank you!

  • Why cant Christmas be just like it use to be???? Seeing this is sooooo wonderful! But when I realize what thing's have become just in the last 12 years....I....almost cant handle it!

  • 44skins, don't be sad! You make me want to cry...thinking back to how it used to be hurts almost too much..it makes your heart ache so! Christmas doesn't seem the same anymore...the world has gotten too hard, and away from God.

  • I want Christmas BACK...NOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • You want to return to the days where the church ran everything??? No way. Forget it. Love thy neighbor? My neighbors suck!

  • Wonderful!

Merry Christmas, all ye men of good will.

  • As I read all the comments I get a feeling of warmth. I was born in 1959 - the end of the baby boom. Life was a lot simpler. Can someone please explain to me how we lost this ? I reget the fact that as humans we have lost the LOVE OF OUR NEIGHBOR.

  • I love this. I just want to go back to simpler times, even if it is only in my heart.

  • that is so sad Melanie....make your time more simple...you can do it...don't let the bastards get you down

  • Thanks For Posting This And God Bless All!

  • Ah, Refreshing! Real Christmas! What a wonderful time of the year. Not the grumpy ole grinches that hate everything about our traditions. I say Merry Christmas! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • My darling husband was born just four days after Christmas 1950, so this is really cool to have. Thank you so much. Can't believe he'll be 57 this year!

  • i was meant to be an adult back in the 50s.....i have the same values and morals...

  • Thank you for this......just a great moment in our lives

  • So even the Japanese were Christians then, eh? No wonder the world was such an idyllic place. LOL

  • Actually, there have been Japanese Christians since at least 1570 when Christianity was introduced to the Japanese by Jesuit missionaries.

  • This clip was very poignant and nostalgic for me. People were less worldly in those days. We had survived a dreadful war and there was much to be sad about. But, Christmas was always a magic time. Thank you for showing this.

  • For myself, I was raised a christian but have disagreed with MANY aspects of the bible. People who think only a certain religion who go to "heaven/after life" are IDIOTS ,people who think global warming is suppose to happen to end the world ARE IDIOTS, priests who politically involve their church are IDIOTS. I'm sticking to the theory of the big bang, evolution, and the chance that when I die nothing will happen.

  • Idiots? No, I don't think so. That was the way they were raised. Don't fault them. Be tollerant. =Stefan=

  • Mighty big of you to deem all who disagree with you idiots!

  • You actually think, knowing how intricate our bodies are, that they evolved from a big bang. That a little one celled thing became everything that is on the earth. Oh my goodness. I think you will one day, maybe in eternity, regret the way you think. If you are wrong about eternity, ouch! If I am wrong, I won't even know it because according to you, there is nothing after this life.

  • Actually having those beliefs, I assure You... when You Die (as you say) trust Me, nothing will happen. Peace to You and believe

  • "Trust" *you"? Who are you to tell anyone to "trust" you that "nothing will happen" when we die? You're just another atheist among us.

  • Yeah really: So much for their stance on religious "tolerance". It only means religions that the ACLU and the Democrats and the liberals agree with. Someone forgot to tell these tarts that Freedom Of Religion means ALL religions.

  • I don't know why, but that little Mexican family made me tear up. It's so nice to see something like this. A family and the parents teaching thier children respect and how to pray.

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's actors and actresses: Boris Karloff, Gracie Fields, Florence Desmond, Boris Karloff from The Mummy, Charles Laughton, Laurence Olivier and many more.

  • Let us all hope this isn't "vintage". There should be no reason to "go back" to anything. The world is really no different when it comes to matters of belief and spirituality. This should be here, now, and forever.

  • Couldn't have said it better!!!

  • This is lovely. I was born in 1953 but I remember Xmas being Xmas. Well done.

  • Very nice. I wish the world could go back to sweet times like these.

  • that was holy year 1950 , my dad graduated from high school that year and was on his way to korea. what a different world back then. thank you for posting

  • The reason the political-correctness gestapo hates stuff

like this is because it gives to impressionable minds an

idea that there is really was such a thing as 'the good

    old days'!

  • Very nice. My last X Mas was missing much of the feeling contained here

  • what is wrong with this, can someone please explain? Is it because of the word "christmas" or that that they said peace on earth good will toward MEN? PC goes way too far!

  • I like it.
