hmm A Serious Man was released before A Single Man
but, mainly...
THE PLOT'S ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
The title is the only marginal similarity between the two films.
Also...One's a Coen film, the other is not.

The whole movie is just fantastic. it's very Coen Brothers and I got kinda pissed that it was totally overlooked at the Oscars sure it was nominated for best picture but The Coen Brothers should have been nominated. another piece of cinematic gold in my opinion.
