Is this the L. A PD 6 inch barrel 9shot S&W auto that was famouse back in the 80's? I had S&W 4506 back in the 80's , 8 +1 that i got good deal for $400 Its saved my life many times . It covered my ass agianst the crack head drug dealers
this is a great looking gun but why in the hell do they want so much for it. im pretty new at fire arms so forgive me if thats a stupid question. but its just that i have not yet seen a handgun yet that cost as much as this SW 952.
@tweezee Actually there are a bunch of guns in this price range. The reason guns like this Performance Center, WIlson Combat, Sig Sauer Mastershop, is that they are mostly custom Guns. They are made for people with the top performance in mind so a lot more hand fitting and craftminship is involved.
The reason it is a single stack gun is because it is based on a preexisting architecture . If they were to design a brand new double stack frame and mags just for this specific model, you would be paying 200 bucks for mags and probably triple the price you paid for the gun itself. It looks like the same architecture as their 1006 and 4006 models which also single stack guns.
Both are very nice. To me the Sig was more comfortable in my hands, but a bit more expensive and a way longer wait time to get it. I also like the looks of the Sig better. Both are extremily acurate
Too long for IDPA competition. I would think that the magazine could hold at least 10 rounds. I would think for the size and weight that it should have more capacity..
It's a bullseye gun. So why critique it as a defensive weapon? The single stack offers better grip feel and pointability. The weight reduces recoil during target sessions. It's an excellent unit for a target shooter.
this is a target pistol of the finest sort. what is al this talk about +P ammo and conceilability? The conversation should be more like. Does it cycle LSWC reliably and accurately
do you think this will handle +p and +p+ loads? cause im thinkng about geting this and buying custom thin grips to fit closer to the frame. if it'll handle at least +p then its going in my safe.
beautiful piece, really nice although I prefer the look of the shorter version I guess a longer barrel makes more sense for what would almost certainly be used as a target pistol as opposed to defence (although it could still serve the latter role). Great review though, I wish I had the funds to afford a performance center firearm.
It's not hard to field strip 952 at all. Hold the slide back a bit, tap out the slide stop, let the slide come down forward. Just like how you would field strip CZ75, HK USP and many many other semi auto pistols.
Haha, very true. Loading my Glock 22 magazines to their full capacity during a long range sessions is a painful ordeal. My single stacks are a dream, however.
Dude, they just wanna sell to CA,that's why only 9 rds

the 952 is meant to be a target gun/bullseye competition gun, that's why it doesn't have a double stack magazine.

$2800 is suggested retail. Available for under $2000.
Some things not mentioned were the grip safety, spherical bushing, and adjustable trigger.

ziggythejoe 1 year ago
Technically it's 9rounds but if you snap the slide back and re-fill the mag' it's 10.

Yes it will and I have shot with them.

the 952 is a Target gun,not a defensive gun.
the single stack mag gives a better grip then a hi cap.
9rnds + 1 = 2 5shot groups. fine for paper targets. yes I know it can be used for defence.
Great gun. lucky you!
