I was 4 years old when this happened. Everyone had been escorted into a square, then the bomb went off. Looking up I saw a huge fireball erupt over the Arndale tower. Everyone started panicking and screaming and I remember very clearly screaming for my mum because I couldn't find her. Then I felt her pick me up and we ran with everyone else to get on the buses that evacuated us. I didn't go back to the city centre until 2004, but the transformation has made me feel very proud to be a Manc :)

I was 4 years old when this happened. Everyone had been escorted into a square, then the bomb went off. Looking up I saw a huge fireball erupt over the Arndale tower. Everyone started panicking and screaming and I remember very clearly screaming for my mum because I couldn't find her. Then I felt her pick me up and we ran with everyone else to get on the buses that evacuated us. I didn't go back to the city centre until 2004, but the transformation has made me feel very proud to be a Manc :)

Even now after all this time, it's still horrifying to see that bomb go off, we are so lucky nobody died and I think that is testament to the skills of everyone that worked hard to get people evacuated. I hope that nothing like this ever happens again, blowing people up never will be a decent way to behave.
