I agree with romannosejob. I actually think he's funny. The fact that he has never performed before actually makes what he's doing normal. When I first started (and i'm not saying I'm good) I didn't trust my normal personality. The thing with Mitch is that he's really just being himself, but maybe a little exaggerated. There's no reason to be a character unless it's funny in itself. He's actually excellent for his first time up.

I think you did well with the persona bit - you actually managed to get laughs from weak material. I'm not trying to diss you but it was pretty weak, if you get someone to do you some strong material you would kill dude! There was an old British comedian called Tommy Cooper who was hilarious with really crap jokes, his persona was so good that when he literally died live on stage people were laughing at him! You could do a dumb ass character struggling with social conventions and stuff.
Many times I feel bad comedy is funnier than 'good comedy'. I laughed hysterically at this, as it was so bad! Good job Marty!
