How well does it operate compared to a AR platform? I know that mini-14s blow dick compared to an AR platform, but how well does it actually perform? I don't really know a whole lot about these weapons and some feedback would be nice. I'm almost starting to think it would be worth paying the grand every year for the class 3 license for a G36. Those weapons are beautiful, hands down. Any thoughts?

Um, first of all, u doesn't truly require fully automatic fire on an assault rifle, if not only for providing covering fire or something. Secondly, while I agree with you on it being *the* most compact assault rifle on the market (yes, beating the G36C), the fact that it's firing 5.56 from a 8.9 inch barrel is not going to guarantee much in the way of "knock down power", or range for that matter. Th Sg55x line bar 556, is in my humble opinion the finest line of modern assault rifle on the planet

For daily training i have all my real weapons as weel in the airsoft version. it makes a huge difference in handling skills ans safety when you do handling training every day with the real weapon and "false" ammunition and also shooting practice with the airsoft gun.

but i agree, airsoft is no toy and i handle it like the real weapon.

your right about all most airsoft guns being the same, but the reason people talk about hem like they're so special is because not only did they spend literally $10-1000 on it, but the fact that they are endlessly customizable. now personally i've slapped more crap on my real P226 and other guns and them some, but the fact is some guys like airsoft because they can customize their stuff and legally shoot someone else with it, then rub their guns and it's mods in others faces, literally.

you could categorize an airsoft gun as a toy, most people do. to me an airsoft gun isn't some godly tool to flaunt like people give a damn, but some people do. think of like an old guy that collects remote control cars or planes or tanks. to an average person it may seem pointless, but if you called it a toy to that person who has an avid passion for it, then you might as well be calling them a looser. i play airsoft because we used to use trainig rifles in the army that were airsoft rifles.

It's not a toy to me, but a firearm training tool. It acts like the real thing enough that I can use one in a CQB or Woodland environment and train with it and shoot at others and not worry about safety.

But I like the airsoft ones as well because I CAN train with them with "live rounds" and not worry about safety.

An airsoft replica is usually close enough to the real thing that it can act as a simulator and also engage in games that can simulate combat.

You can't do that with real guns, of course, unless the combat is real and lives are at stake at that moment.

no offense, I never consider my airsoft guns as toys but as weapons, as firearms. Definitely not as lethal as say my real SIGs or M1A1, but weapons. I don't allow people to mess around, and I refuse to allow people "flashing" others, even on accident.
