As for job creation...I believe these guys are creating more jobs in Europe than in Africa by promoting the over consumption of french, german and italian luxury goods! God helps Africa...And the Ivory Coast.
When we recognize that every individual has a responsibility to make a positive contribution to society, from the road sweeper to the president, then maybe we can really start moving forward.
That's a problem in our communities...We often reject our responsibility and make other people entirely responsible for our destiny like slaves or colonized people...Entertainers have a human brain! they also have a responsibility to contribute positively to the advancement of our people.
These entertainers have filled the void created by the absence of good leaders in our societies. They are becoming role models to the younger generations, who are the future of Africa...When mediocrity takes such a high profile in society, there is obviously cause for concern...
Could you name the negative values that coupe decale promote? What mediocrity are you talking about? they are putting together projects from start to finish. they are able to have people talk about the Ivory coast outside of politics. Like I said they generate jobs
entertainners are just that, Academics, PHD's and other thinkers are the one that must produce works that "positively" influence their society and the members of this society. when they do , singers that grow up in this society would reflect the depth of that society. Look at Asian ,french movies and look at Nigerian movies.
I would finish by saying that In the Ivory coast we did not wait for DOuk Saga to dress, dance or show off. This is (black )man nature. Thank you for the conversation.
Negative values promoted by these people: materialism, consumerism, eurocentrism (for Africans it is a crime), selfishness (why waste so much money when there is so much poverty around?), ignorance, superficiality, laziness, irresponsibility, vanity, megalomania, shamelessness, contempt for goods made in Africa by Africans, mediocrity (a monkey could write the same lyrics) etc...
Coupe Decale, Sagacite and other movements are now part of ivorian popular culture! The negative values that these movements promote can only further undermine the intellectual, social and economic advancement of Africans.
It looks like a lot of ivorian entertainers are turning into gay men - judging by the way they dress...The country may soon have to be renamed the Gay Coast!
I know right? but do not worry it just a fashion trend, you do not have to dress this way to be gay, otherwise the all continent of africa would have been gay during the 60's and 70's when everyone was rocking tight ass pants and shirt.
go on flirck or google image and type africa 70's to see for yourself.
The difference between now and then is that in the 60's or 70's this lifestyle and appearance weren't directly associated with gay people. In 2006, people will tell you that these guys dress like gay men, dance like gay men and seem to be obsessed with the physical appearance of young men - starting with their own body. Young men who are in love with their physical appearance and other men's physical appearance...It looks like the Ivorians have hijacked the gay movement...
Well I guess this how you feel about it but I must say that Men have always been preocuppied by his appearance, especially when he has an above average built. This is called self loving, narcisism, pride whatever label you want to put to it.Again they do not dance like gay men, obviously you have not been in a gay club.
Who cares what people would think... Les gens n'aiment pas les gens mais nous on avances translation" most people dislike other people, nontheless we keep moving forwards"
They are moving forward(torward) the goals they set for themselves. They are supplying the dormant entertainment industry with new and exciting content. They are generating jobs(distribution, production, promotion, newspaper, internet sites, concert etc..)who are us, you are the only one expressing your sole opinion.
You are not the voice of the voiceless, let everybody come and express their personal opinion. You can certainly not apply what you see two or three individuals do to entire country ,otherwise all germans are nazis, all nigerians are scam artists, all arabs are terrorists. What a beautiful world you live in...
Music and entertainment have always had an important place in african societies, including the Ivory Coast. We are not talking about a small fringe of people here but rather about popular culture.
