I personally think all 3 versions of this song are great in their own way. The version by Gimp (Tomas' first band) is a more mellow version. This version, when he was in Catch 22, has that distinct youthful energy to it. And Streetlight Manifesto's version is more refined and technical sounding.
Sound quality sucks, but I love the song regardless, so this vid gets props.
Catch was amazing before Tom split to form Streetlight, and nowadays I don't like Streetlight or Catch, but I really can't foresee myself EVER turning my back on the original Keasbey Night album by Catch 22. I first heard this shit way back when I was in middle school, and I fell in love with it so much that it has affected my musical taste to this very day.
first of all catch 22 started before streetlight and then catch 22's singer tomas left and started streetlight and they covered an entire album from catch 22 so they didnt "steal" anything so get your facts straight so you dont look like a dumbass.
second of all if you hate catch 22 sooo much then get the hell off their videos and go listen to streetlight
@Austinpez96 Yea you have a point. But even still, I didn't know about Catch 22. Just now today checking them out...and they suck. Just saying. Not trolling. I'll be leaving now to Streetlight lol
@Austinpez96 actualy they didnt even cover catch's album since the lead singer of streetlight was the one who wrote the catch album in the first place, so not really a cover just a upgrade (actualy seems like theirs less energy in the streetlight version but whatever)
They are almost the same, streetlight is better in my Opinion, the thing is Streetlight is going to be making better music the the future due to Tomas Kalnoky.
The funny thing here is that supernothing was originally written by kalnoky when he was in a band called gimp, this was way before catch or streetlight came along. So the catch 22 version AND the streetlight version are both covers.
Also, streetlight brings a more polished and cleaned up take on keasby nights (in my opinion) while catch just has that infectious energy about them. Two different approaches to a fantastic album! Dont hate, appreciate!
@smokedontcry technically, catch22 playing anything off keasbey knights is pretty much a cover if think about it. Tomas Kalnoky(streetlight) wrote the lyrics. Streetlight Manifesto was pretty much forced into recording keasbey knights
@Carpenella yea but he wrote it. what i mean is that modern catch 22 is covering their own songs because it doesnt have kalnoky in it. its kinda like streetlight and catch are covering their own music................................. just streetlight is less of a cover
@vusa69 no this version and gimps are the best streetlights version of the entire keasbey nights album other than walking away and maybe a few others are worse than the catch 22 originals
Just found out about these guys from some one at my school today before class. They are pretty cool. Despite the fact that I'm a real metalhead, I think I might like Ska a little more. Catch 22 is pretty cool.
Gimp, Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, and Bandits of Acoustic Revolution is all creations of Tomas Kalnoky!!! yea people!!! and not to mention rivalry between catch22 and streetlight, you people dont get that Tomas made them known!!! Catch22 is nothing without him!!
i agree with drummer0113 tomas kalnoky made catch 22 he wrote and recorded all of keasby then left for art school. without him catch 22 is just an average ska band
I like both catch 22 and Streetlight manifesto. but Catch 22's Keasbey knights is far superior to SM's. I like the rawness, SM's is too refined or whatever. FUCKIN SHIT FUCK ASS DICK QUALITY SUCKS
Alright, no more streetlight comments. Streetlight was meant to be a superband of sorts, that is all about talent, not the same kind of energy that catch has. Honestly, they both are better at some things, but get beaten buy the other in something. Just get over it, Catch 22 DOES NOT = Streetlight manifesto and vice versa
they are both awesome. if you dont like one. DON'T FUCKING LISTEN TO IT. shit you make it seem like someone is holding a gun to your head making you listen to it.
I don't get why people cant enjoy both versions/bands. They both make and play some of the best music I have had a chance to hear, and for me, that is enough.
tomas kalnoky wrote this song and then recorded it with his high school band gimp. he then formed catch 22 and re recorded it and then after going to college formed streetlight manifesto and re-re recorded it.
he also has a side band called bandits of the acoustic revolution.
i like Catch 22, but the real genius in this song is Tomas Kalnoky. He is truly amazing, and he wrote every aspect of this song, along with the entire album.
for real though, I just wanna have a good time, doesnt everyone else? Whys it gotta be so difficult? Im not saying things should change, cause they prolly wont, but we're all here, so we could at least TRY to get along. Now Im in agreement with kaelans, lets all go mosh and jam half stoned and drunk. Thats my favorite thing to do.
could any1 be smart enough to tell me some good ska bands that sound like the forces of evil,[spunge], streetlight manifesto/catch 22, mustard plug, the skatastrophes, reel big fish, or the aquabats?
Ive been on all these frappen pages where people are dissin and defending shit. I say if youre complaining about music then you're the one that sucks. If you really got beef then go to a show and mosh. Now whiners stop whining and I say we all go party, drinks on me!
Both versions or keasbey have their strong points, but I prefer the streetlight one, for that version of sergio, the improved vocals and overall better sound quality.
I actually don't really like the gimp version at all. This is my favorite, I personally preferred Catch 22's Keasby to Streetlight's, but then I thought Everything Went Numb was even better. I'm holding out for a full lenght BOTAR album, that would be amazing.
