some people are stupid infrared doesn't just mean heat. its light with a wave length longer that 750 nano meters and less than 1000 nano meters. This IS shot with infrared light. probably around 850 NM.
Cats can't see in complete darkness. However, they can see with only about 15% of the light humans need to see. Cats have more sensitive hearing than dogs, and their sense of smell is only slightly less than that of dogs. The kitten here obviously knew it was being watched by its owner.
Is this shot using a Sony HI8 Camcorder? if so how did you transfer it onto here, as HI( camcorders do not have a firewire socket?? Also from my own experience when you shoot in widescreen & then edit the video, it never comes out in the correct aspect ration...i see yours did'nt either! This drives me nuts!
@doherty366 Actually, that's not true. Cats have fewer colour-distinguishing cells (cones) than us. They see in the dark because they have more light-sensitive cells (rods), not because they see IR or UV (which they don't).
Lol it looks like it's on ecstasy! You can tell the cat can't see IR very well either. If it would, his pupils would contract when you shine it directly in his eyes.
i'm looking for a decent hd camcorder that is compact, waterproof, has macro, good zoom and good storage options to be able to fit on my atn nvm-14 night vision monocular. I have the adapter which is 35mm so the camcorder needs to have that dimension lens on it so i can couple it up to my nvm
any ideas please ??? i can't find the info anywhere ! thanks and inspiring video !
That cat must have a Sony HVL-IRH2 placed in his retna...I wish I had cat eyes that would be awsome to see in pitch darkness without any equitment what so ever......
they have a second layer over their cornea called the tapetum which reflects the light back to the pupil again (twice) and double exposes the light, kind of like leaving the lens of a camera open for twice as long when taking a picture. :)

this is not infared. infared would show the cat as numberous different colors as infared shows temperatures. also, an infared lens is made out of uber expensive germanium and the cheapest IR camera is about $3000
Sorry but this is infra red the one with colour is a ''heat camera''. My camera also has IR light and it costs around 900 euro's it's called IR night vision because it has IR lights and only camera's can spot them.
Lol.. maybe you should do a bit of research into infrared before you make yourself look like a retard :)
The use of infrared light and night vision devices should not be confused with thermal imaging which creates images based on differences in surface temperature by detecting infrared radiation (heat) that emanates from objects and their surrounding environment
@Bakb0ne LOL..maybe you should learn to speak with manners huh? Maybe the person was wrong but no need to be such a jerk :) But then again i bet it makes you feel so cool to use such words and tone :L ah people these days
just bought a cheap sony camcorder with nightshot plus works great £35 off ebay bought an old ir filter for a military landrover head light inspecting it for shinthrough while illuminated gave me a bit of a headache!!!!
You should be able to. My equipment is Sony so I can't answer about other equipment. I guess what I would recommend is you check with your camera brand or a camera store.

Amazing how cats can see in the darkness. If they can adapt well so can we. But that take so long.

it's good that there was a Moon to see their Path
spagget 2 years ago
@spagget Yes, it has real good dark vision. I can't imagine how intense and beautiful the STARS & Galaxy would seem with eyes like on a cat, geez....
