  • some people are stupid infrared doesn't just mean heat. its light with a wave length longer that 750 nano meters and less than 1000 nano meters. This IS shot with infrared light. probably around 850 NM.

  • Cats can't see in complete darkness. However, they can see with only about 15% of the light humans need to see. Cats have more sensitive hearing than dogs, and their sense of smell is only slightly less than that of dogs. The kitten here obviously knew it was being watched by its owner.

  • Jellicle cats come out tonight.....

  • Ill buy this camera from you.

  • So.......the cat has night vison too?

  • @doherty366 wow...cats are super, arent they...

    doh!

  • funny high exposure eyes : ) apparently it doesn't see the IR at all

  • Is this shot using a Sony HI8 Camcorder? if so how did you transfer it onto here, as HI( camcorders do not have a firewire socket?? Also from my own experience when you shoot in widescreen & then edit the video, it never comes out in the correct aspect ration...i see yours did'nt either! This drives me nuts!

  • @doherty366 Actually, that's not true. Cats have fewer colour-distinguishing cells (cones) than us. They see in the dark because they have more light-sensitive cells (rods), not because they see IR or UV (which they don't).

  • OK, you can work for Nat Geo Wild!

  • Awwwww the kitten is soooo cute:D

  • looking for a good quality night camcorder. Sky and land. Any Ideas under 300$ would be welcomed :)

  • Could you give an advice please, on how should I use the infrared LEDs with my camcorder, so that I would get maximum distance to view?

  • the music is bangin! adds a nice vibe...

  • heey for night vision does it already come in u camera or u have to buy dat spreatly?

  • Lol it looks like it's on ecstasy! You can tell the cat can't see IR very well either. If it would, his pupils would contract when you shine it directly in his eyes.

  • Cool!

  • can u suggest me where can i buy a night vision camera? ? ? like a cheap one,..tnx bruva.....

  • the cat eye, circle at night.

  • NINJA KITTEH

  • thumbs up for a cute cat

  • ok guys i need help please !

i'm looking for a decent hd camcorder that is compact, waterproof, has macro, good zoom and good storage options to be able to fit on my atn nvm-14 night vision monocular. I have the adapter which is 35mm so the camcorder needs to have that dimension lens on it so i can couple it up to my nvm

any ideas please ??? i can't find the info anywhere ! thanks and inspiring video !

  • Cool video. Cat's definitely seeing the infrared light source.

  • Amazing how cats can see in the darkness. If they can adapt well so can we. But that take so long.

  • That cat must have a Sony HVL-IRH2 placed in his retna...I wish I had cat eyes that would be awsome to see in pitch darkness without any equitment what so ever......

  • I love this.....That cat rocks

  • wow! i wonder how cats eyes works in total darkness ^_^

  • they have a second layer over their cornea called the tapetum which reflects the light back to the pupil again (twice) and double exposes the light, kind of like leaving the lens of a camera open for twice as long when taking a picture. :)

  • Yeah,. i just Research that last year. which it was a unbelievable. like a camera which is exposed for 4 mins at the dark..

but i research that cats cant see a PURE total DARKNESS (Ex: Inside a box)

it's good that there was a Moon to see their Path

  • @spagget Yes, it has real good dark vision. I can't imagine how intense and beautiful the STARS & Galaxy would seem with eyes like on a cat, geez....

  • 0:22

  • wow scary eyes on 0.22

  • WoW ! Cool...and this big eyes :)

  • Sorry but this is infra red the one with colour is a ''heat camera''. My camera also has IR light and it costs around 900 euro's it's called IR night vision because it has IR lights and only camera's can spot them.

  • Lol.. maybe you should do a bit of research into infrared before you make yourself look like a retard :)

The use of infrared light and night vision devices should not be confused with thermal imaging which creates images based on differences in surface temperature by detecting infrared radiation (heat) that emanates from objects and their surrounding environment

  • @Bakb0ne LOL..maybe you should learn to speak with manners huh? Maybe the person was wrong but no need to be such a jerk :) But then again i bet it makes you feel so cool to use such words and tone :L ah people these days

  • just bought a cheap sony camcorder with nightshot plus works great £35 off ebay bought an old ir filter for a military landrover head light inspecting it for shinthrough while illuminated gave me a bit of a headache!!!!

  • i love your cat

  • cheap IR = deer cams, or make your own , visit kipkays site

  • dont shine at the eyes too long although it is invisible light it will still hurt the eyes

  • seeing their huge pupils in the dark looks like they are ready to pounce at all times.

  • so can you just buy infrared lights anywhere for videocameras, like are they commonly available.

  • You should be able to. My equipment is Sony so I can't answer about other equipment. I guess what I would recommend is you check with your camera brand or a camera store.

  • will this light fir my sony camera?, mine is a dcr-sr75

  • hey is the camera like super high quality?

  • Nope, it was a Sony TRV-170. Actually pretty old.

  • but the vid shows a good quality

  • i agree its pretty good quality

  • is that like an attatchment

  • Yes it an infrared light attachment.

  • WOW! This looks just like my cat! And she loves those little toys she can bat around.

  • cute little kitty :) somehow I heard animals like cats and many other animals cannot see infrared lights.
