It doen't matter HOW the kids receive their first holy communion. This is the kids first time and the church wants the kids to get the gist of it. They can practice how to recieve communion in the weeks, months, and years to follow for the rest of their lives and they will develop their own style recieving communion.
You can receive the most grace and can show great reverance by receiving Holy Commuion on the tounge while kneeling.
