  • You hear a tiny bit of this song at the very beginning of 'The Law', which gives it the same effect like Dyers eve on AJFA by metallica (IMO) =P..

  • arguing amongst each other*** damn voice input

  • if pantera ripped off exhorder then i guess geoff tatr ripped off rob halford. i guess metallica ripped off dave mustaine. stfu, all of you. its metal. love it or leave it. metal has a hard enough time getting exposure without its fans are you wean a month each other

  • I wish people would stop putting PanterA and Exhorder in competition. They are both excellent metal bands.

  • I used to listen to this album constantly roughly 7 years ago...I never understood the guitar tone on this...and I always hated the guitar tone but the riffs made up for it.

They supposedly hated the slaughter tone...I can't blame them considering they sound exactly like Sepultura tone wise. However, I prefer that sound much more..

  • by far my favorite EXHORDER song...-D

  • I am finally proud of my state!!!

  • people should really leave the whole Pantera vs Exhorder thing to rest.Slaugher in the Vatican came out in October, CFH in July. i know that Exhorder was a band for waaaaaayy longer (actually no becuz of Pantera's older Heavy/Glam/Thrash albums) but there demos sound more akin to thrash. not only that but Slaughter in the Vatican is like Thrash Metal mixed with Groove (barely). If the band was never completely the style than its fucking pathetic to argue about. just enjoy both bands

  • How come I never of these fuckers before? They shred!

  • Exhorder, in my opinion, was a superior band. I'm not so much a fan of this album, but Slaughter in the Vartican was a motherfucker of an album. Thats for damn sure.

How can anyone not think that this sounds like Pantera? This is a dead ringer. Riffing style, the guitar tone, the song construction and the vocals all are very Pantera like. I'm not saying Pantera ripped Exhorder off...but they were definitely influenced by them to a larger degree than most Pantera fans want to admit.

  • @GoongalaGoongala there's rumors of phil anselmo getting an exhorder demo tape back when they were glam, this might inspired them to change the style.

  • Kinda reminds me of Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse for some reason. Obviously not the vocals, but the music kinda does

  • @legojunk53 I know exactly what you mean dude! It's got the same death/grind tempo to it. That's when you know you're listening to the good shit \m/

  • fucken A right there similar, theyre both from Texas, and New Orleans, both influenced by Heavy as fucken shit pounding crowbar eyehategod sludge and there aint nothing better. Spit on those who choose to pose, and thrash with all the rest.

  • Pantera and Exhorder are different. Only idiots would say they are copies. Seth is a bad ass drummer and Vinnie paul is a drum machine. Both have different styles. Both bands help develop groove metal. Only pussys talk shit behide a computer.

  • They sound alot like Pantera, but not on this song particularly. These guys have some songs I wouldn't be able to tell from Pantera without a label at the top.

  • RIP Frankie

  • it's a shame they broke up.they would be on top today if,they would have stuck through it.anyway, great post.thnx. keep thrashin \m/

  • @angelofwaranddeath they reformed

  • exhorder is the shit! one of my favorite thrash bands

I may have said some lies but still I've told my truth!

  • this kicks ass!!! too bad they broke up :\

  • @99godsmakk they reformed

  • From Cold ass Canada, with Love...

  • Actually Phil Anselmo was heavily influenced by Exhorder which triggered their change of sound.

  • @ThrashedDeath Yep, both from New Orleans. In fact, not only were they all friends, but Phil actually informed Pantera this was the direction he wanted to go. It was time for change, and Phil is VERY smart . He knew metal was going this direction. If Exhorder didn't exist, Pantera would have continued on the same path as "Power Metal" and "Cowboys".

As far as influences, Exhorder deserves some credit for their contributions. So does Kreator, Coroner, and Kings X. (dont get me started)

  • @headshop Got proof of this?

  • @DimebagDave120804 I learned about the change directly from Grady, who at the time, was Dimebags guitar tech. He told me about this change in direction, when the band I used to play with (Z'kazan) opened up for Pantera at club 367 in 1992. (Saint Louis, Mo) It was actually 2 weeks before Vulgar was released, and Pantera's first headlining show---having just come off the road with Skid Row. He said Phil wanted to get heavier, and the guys agreed. The rest is history.

  • @headshop Two weeks before vulgar? That doesn't add up.. People are saying that CFH is a rip off of Exhorders sound.. Vulgar doesn't sound anything like exhorder.

  • @DimebagDave120804 That's just when I was told this. I think he was refering to Phil joining Pantera. If you listen to Power Metal, and then CFH---you can certaily hear a difference. I had never heard Exhorder till then, and have to honestly admit I hear similarities. Keep it heavy my friend! RIP Dime and Frankie. (I'm sure their jamming together)

  • LOS CREADORES DE PANTERA!!!

  • groove metal at its best

  • I know everyone has their own taste, but this is pretty sad. What the heck is going on here?

  • whoa!! slow down there with the hateful comments. metallica kicks ass too. and if you dont agree fuck you!!

  • hey devin. i like exhorder.

  • sounds more like sepultura than pantera

  • ey this ist slayer music ?!

  • @MrWackenBier Sort of.....They certainly draw influences from Slayer. Pantera completely ripped these guys off though.

  • @JSPAG518 PANTERA DID NOT completely rip em off...they took the best of what this band did and put a macho fat nut sack twist to it with sick guitar solos...besides, this world is plenty big enough for exhorder and pantera

  • Comment removed

  • @JSPAG518 Learn your history sir.

  • @tawras Pretty sure he's got it right.

  • the drop sounds like art of shredding pantera awesome track still

  • this sounds fucking badass.

i'm bald and headbanging. yeah. it looks that stupid. but so worth it.

  • @8Biohazard5 - Fuck YES!

  • @8Biohazard5 how do you think Scott Ian feels?

  • 0:38 so thats why people says pantera steal some ideas from exhorder

    this sounds pretty groovy

but its kinda very different from pantera

  • Pantera only hase a few songs that get to this speed.

    Pantera is more Grooveish.

  • This sounds nothing like Pantera , Sorry.

  • @davidlm6974 thats cause you didnt listen

  • @minorkatminor this doesn't sound like pantera

  • @clepto201 What the fuck do you Know? Exhorder is an American thrash/groove metal band from New Orleans (same place as Phil is from). They are credited as the purveyors of the groove-oriented thrash sound later made famous by bands such as Pantera. Yeah it does sounds similar, listen to more than 1 song tool(s).

  • @minorkatminor who the fuck do you think you are? this is obviously more thrash sounding than pantera \\m// (-_-)\\m//

  • @clepto201 I am a master of guitar.

  • @minorkatminor lolahhahahahahhahaa you wish u could play

  • @clepto201 Hey Laronda what are you talking about?

stop by my channle if need be so I can show you how to rip it up.

  • @minorkatminor ahhahaha i listend to ur channel these guys rock way harder than you

  • @clepto201 i saw your channel, you got some good shit but Im not going to insult you

  • @minorkatminor i wasn't trying to insult you, only pointing out the facts. you can def rip that acoustic \\m//(>_<)\\m// , but your no thrash master of guitar

  • this sounds more like slayer than pantera dumb fucks , tthey sound nothing like pantera, NO! they did not copy exhoder, they wanted to get heavier and in 1988 phil did thatt

  • A mi me da igual si Exhorder suena mejor que pantera y tienen menos fama o etc etc... pienso que si hay buenos exponentes del Groove Metal esos son Exhorder y Pantera.

  • Slaughtered is definitely the heaviest song from either band.

  • great song

  • Why doesn't anyone ever upload the first track?

  • @EvisceratorBand cause WMG and You Tube ban it. I've tried and they just block it

  • Yeah...Pantera's WAY softer.

  • @EvisceratorBand Pantera did develop heavier sound in far beyond driven... but they would always have softer tracks in their albums... Throes of Rejection and Slaughtered are good examples what comes to heavy songs.

  • @laitela01 I've heard EVERY Pantera track. Their only track that even comes close to being as heavy as Exhorder is Hell's Wrath.

  • @EvisceratorBand Well I guess its time to refresh your memory, then... listen to Use My Third Arm for example.. just because Exhorder plays faster beats doesnt necessarily mean they're heavier

  • @laitela01 Yeah but the fact that they're heavier means they're heavier. You just named a song that isn't even as heavy as the other two songs you mentioned.

  • @EvisceratorBand Maybe Strenght Beyond Strenght would be the kinda song we're talking about! Definitely fast. And pretty heavy too.

  • @laitela01 I just said I've heard all of them.

  • @EvisceratorBand

I think Slaughtered is the heaviest : )

    hugs

  • well u can hear the answer for metallica and panterra in 1.58...

  • metal is like an apple, no one likes the core

  • @generosos87 lmfao, that's an awesome way to put it. props to that analogy!

  • @generosos87

No one likes the core...except rats, invertibrates, and swine.

  • exhorder has it in everything but vocals anselmo kicks ass

  • @PlaymateBass

What the fuck is wrong with you guys? On every Exorder-video there is a Pantera/Anselmo discussion. He doesnt even sound like Anselmo...noone does actually...and many tried to.

Compare them with Pantera I dont care, but why the hell do I have to read Phils name that often? Just wanna get it......

  • @AnselmoFanZero how the fuck you can't hear the similarities is absolutely beyond my understanding.

  • @xBillyTheKidx

Sounding like Phil is like being more gay than Ricky Martin...you just cant!

  • quit comparing exhorder to pantera, thats old news, its like comparing my di@k to your face, pantera's cool but exhorder is heavier

  • This is great old school Thrash!

    Thanks for uploading!

  • wow they fucking suck!!!!

  • @masterofgarrett

    fuck you!

  • @somanivato spam!!!

  • Exhorder invented it...Pantera perfected it

  • Bad........Ass.......YEAH!

  • Great metal, I feel the teatament vibe as well

  • yes ur right 80's metallica does rule but now they suck and r sellouts

and ppl stop with comparing pantera to exhorder they both kickass but exhorder sounds alot like slayers raining blood album

  • who cares ,i just love listening to music in general

  • I'm sorry, this sounds nothing like pantera. you can hear some very slight similarities which are found in most metal songs anyway. MAYBE a slight vocal similarity, but to say pantera is an imitation is rash and not very well thought through.

  • @Lendrainian *It isn't supposed to sound like Pantera. In many interviews, members of Pantera have cited Exhorder as one of their early influences. That's all. Cheers!

  • @Lendrainian get the whole album 'The Law', listen to it, digest it, and also listen to the album 'Slaughter In The Vatican'. Objectively, they DO sound like Pantera - the guitar sound is VERY similar (very 'cutting'). I don't even know the riffs so well, but if others say they're borrowed then I can believe it as a possibility. The vocals definitely stray into the same territory, although are more personalised I guess...

  • @Lendrainian

Listen to other songs of this band. You can't say that Pantera weren't influenced by this. I'm certain that this groovy style was somewhat new to Metal.

  • U guys are idiots, pantera and exhorder are different. pantera has more groove style along with Heavy metal, these guys are more thrash and death metal with a tiny bit of groove metal, and pantera caught more attention cuz their songs were put together so dam well some ppl dont realize, from beginning to end of their songs there was nothing that should of been different

  • at last...thrash is ONE! stop the idiotic influence thing...thrash is thrash, more deathy more tecnical, still thrash!!! THRASH TILL DEATH!!!!!!!!

  • @beeromaniac Right on brotha!!!!

  • Mierda que no se puede negar el parecido tan obvio con pantera pero no creo que sea plagio

  • Kiss my ass dracula

  • this is awesome \m/ first time my ears have heard these and i fucking dig it \m/

  • Shit, you guys sound worse than the idiots who bring up the whole Metallica vs Megadeth argument.

Exhorder and Pantera are two separate bands who play a similar style of music. The only difference is that through whatever reason(s), Pantera got more attention and were able to get a lot of people's attention.

True metalheads know and recognize both bands because they're both fucking great. End rant.

  • Comment removed

  • let it all out

  • HA! These boys are far more technical than pantera or slayer. So... For the love of god FUCK OFF!

  • The name of the song speaks for itself lol

  • wounds likes "snare bass, snare bass, snare bass, snare bass, snare bass. dumb high pitched guitars and lame grooves. pantera kicks these guys ass."

    slayer ripped off

  • pantera sucks dick and exhorder was out before slayer even picked up instruments lol when that hippy Douchebag Darrel died i song Halleuyah

  • your a fag

  • Pantera is better than you i'm pretty sure U.U

  • this that why pantera store exhorders sound? pantera was a shity hair metal band before phil joined he store exhorders sound because they fucking sucked and exhorder was unknown so lol you're a dumb ass

  • Pantera is better than you i'm sure and they, as musicians, do not need to copy any sound of any band, o, have you seen them copyng to exhorder? haver you ever been with anselmo or darrell, maybe abbott? thay told you so?

jaja one thing are the influneces and other thing is copiyng, i don't mean they DIDN'T copied, but i THINK it's just improbable.

  • If we talk about copying... so every epic doom metal band would be a sabbath/candlemass copy don't you think? those are influences, not copying.

  • @wizaex93 its copying big differance from copying and being an influence

  • pffffffffffffffffff.......................just pozers that were fucked by thrashers and then followed them...still cant forget them in zebrazzzz tights....gays..

  • @beeromaniac I like more Pantera than Exhorder.

  • ah... this is the thrash i love. thrash with that evil hint of death. beats the shit out of metallica

  • Whats with the Metallica bashing on obscure metal videos? 80's Metallica was the best! Come on.

  • 80s metallica was best cause of mustain, and burton....u can see hetfields tallend nowadays.........

  • @KillerCannibal666 don't talk BS about Metallica thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @panzertera you Suck, Metallica does not suck do you got a problem with that

  • @leuropa67 Are you kidding me? The Metallica from Masters to now is no comparison dumbass. They used us to get where they're at now. They haven't made anything heavy since ....and Justice

  • @leuropa67 Are you the one that was talking Shit about Pantera Walk because you need to listen to Thrash and Groove Metal.

  • thanks a lot for uploading this!

  • that mean exhorder?

  • anyone here the slayer in this... ? makes me want to stomp on heads

  • yeah i definetly here it in the beggining

  • @MakinaDeMuerte i heard it

  • @MakinaDeMuerte I hear more Pantera here...

  • @MakinaDeMuerte Nope. Still would like to stomp heads though.

  • this band sounds like they could have influence warbringer

  • DUDE! Hell yes they do!

  • This must be the heaviest album from this band.

  • Exhorder is back together and I am eagerly awaiting the new album.

  • Amen to that.

  • Love this style...

  • my fave song on the album

  • haha, listen to that guitar tone!!

    sounds pretty effin' brutal.

reminds me of when i was 14 and playing on a peavey rage! haha! i would turn the mid all the way down and dial up the bass and treble as far as they could go. now-a-days, i get get good thrash tone out of a dual rectifier, dbx compressor and sonic maximizer.

    thanks for posting!

    cheers!

  • yeah!!!!

    it's Thrash Zone rules

    XD
