  • DEAR MASTER,If I can permit myself, there is a way to stop the opponent from rolling,by putting the foot of my leg opposite; his locked

foot ,in between his legs and stop him from rolling,we hope he has some protection so

he won't be injured;this way i am twisting

his knee the same time as the ankle lock,

IN fact in any leg lock if the person who is trapped try to scape and FAILS,HE WILL FIND

HIMSELF IN WORSE SITUATION,FACING TWO LOCKS

OR THE SAME LOCK AND A BARR.

  • this is great stuff but what if ur opponent does that exact same thing to you? how do u stop it? he could very well submit you before you even try

  • Generally with ankle locks, one of the ways you prevent your opponent from sitting up on you to escape is to roll them to the side. Oftentimes people will continue rolling for an attempted escape. This drill teaches you to keep a tight hold on the leg during movement AND sinch the lock tighter while doing it. It also teaches you to defend your leg while attacking your opponent's at the same time.

  • Rolling serves several purposes. It trains you to sinch up the lock during movement - which is often when mistakes are made or openings are created for submission completion. Movement is always better than stillness in grappling. I would suugest you find drills where you can try to practice all types of submissions while moving, not just sitting there.

  • I don't mean to sound ignorant, but what exactly is the purpose of rolling for?
