I'm so glad I still have a working CD. But I can't get WinROTT to work off of it. I'd love to listen to these tracks while blasting away some brainwashed thugs with a firebomb.
fml..... i was like 6 or 7 when i first played this... what i would give to go back in time, play this again, and fix all my mistakes as i was growing up....
i still dont see why people hate this game. It's fast paced action is awsome and i love the unlimited bullet weapons to soo you can just keep blasting all over the place with the mp40. It's really fun with all those large traps and stuff.
Me I don't hate it. Just the only thing it had over the Doom games around at the same time was the soundtrack. (RoTT's soundtrack definitely rocks. Whereas Doom had mediocre music at best. (I'd even say poor music.)
However otherwise Doom is just plain superior. The level designs (Not all blocks), the weapons, the enemy designs, much more creative and entertaining.
Fantastic music, fantastic game. After all of these years, I still have more fun with ROTT than with many of today's games. And I *still* discover secrets that I've never seen before.
@ShaggE1771 ROTT, Shadow Warrior, Doom, Duke 3D, Blood etc will never die. COD sucks, so does Halo. Old FPS games have that non linear feel to them where theres so many things you can do, the graphics maybe limited but the game its self aint. COD is so boaring, its all this cover shooting crap and "lets do it the tatical way". fuck tactics, just give me a kick ass tune, a big fucking gun and i'll go kick a fucking door down and shoot the fuck out of things. they just dont make em like they did
@AzraelX661 I wouldn't say they suck, but they definitely feel like a completely different genre. Hopefully Serious Sam BFE will be a big hit, and we'll see a shift in how shooters are made.
@ShaggE1771 thing is tho thats the bad thing about COD. i mean its not the only bad thing bout COD but thats one of if not the main reason why it not sucks but its not exacly a classic or an ejoyable game(s). but the thing that really rubs me up the wrong way is the fact people my age and some 20 odd yr old actually take the piss and turn there noses up on games like this and doom. bitching bout the graphuics. generally just nit picking at these old FPS games. the reason you hear ROTT music in lameduke is because Duke3d (including beta 'lameduke') was built off the ROTT engine which originally was the wolf3d engine. They just left that stuff in because they way they made it was by heavily modifying the game engine and still using some of the rise-of-the-triad sounds in it. This is how many games were made back then. I read this info years and years ago off the 3drealms website. Just uploaded some ROTT FM/OPL3 MIDI renditions myself (check profile)
The Duke Nukem engine is entirely different from ROTT. The ONLY reason you hear ROTT music in LameDuke is because it was used as Filler while certain assets were worked on.
You must have misread. Duke 3D runs on BUILD, which was created by Ken Silverman from scratch and licensed to Apogee/3DR. ROTT used a heavily modified version of Wolfenstein 3D.

okay, well i got Winrott too, it works great most of the time.
Sometimes it hangs but, it works good mostly. :)
This music is cult!
And it was used in Lameduke, i once asked my brother why and he said that 3d Realms thought it was cool, hehe...

Heh, i have all midis on the computer and on the newest compute i had, the soundcard made the midis sounds like these, perfect :D
But its got a virus so i was afraid i couldn't hear its version, but here it is, thanks for the upload fellow ROTT fan :P
