There is something not quite right about what these guys are doing, too much movement in the torso, they are being violent with it, attitude is all wrong.
@cspace1234nz My 85 year old grandfather does this. This and other forms of yoga helped him fight diabetes and poor eyesight (used to wear glasses, didn't needed to within 5-6 months of starting yoga). It also helped ease his blood pressure. And his is not the only miracle story. The results are (mostly) pretty amazing, my friend. And of course, no yoga instructor will tell you that you can eat like a monster and still be healthy by doing yoga. Take care and be happy! :)
@ericmabius85 Fantastic, no argument from me there and whilst I wouldn't call them miracle stories they certainly show us what's possible health and well being-wise with the various yoga techniques.
My point was that this technique alone will not cause weight loss, and let's face it, what we are talking about here is an overweight person simply doing this and nothing more. As I said, it's all about intake (as others are suggesting here also)
@codingsolutions It's entirely possible. But remember, you'll have to restrict high calorie foods. Try consuming about 1500 calories per day, and do this pranayam in the morning before taking any food. Just take two glasses of warm water before starting.
in todays modern science, they say laughing is a very good exercise. i think its true b'cause you sort of breathing forcefully from your stomach without realising it. but with this you are doing it longer rather than like the brief laughing, and you have the control. furthermore its been there from ancient time. brilliant. another thing,i tried this one day for fun and gosh my stomach was burning from inside for nearly a week. now is that normal?
This is what i practised this morning for 60 breaths and then repeated....im going to add more breaths every day....some of the comments here have inspired me even more!9:
Continuing...---> Only the abdomen should be moving... I don't know much about Ram Dev, but I'm surprised that a yogi of his calibre would allow "students" to incorrectly demonstrate like this... Also technically, kapalabathi is not considered a pranayama, but rather one of the 6 "Shat Karmas" or "Shat Kriyas" of Hatha Yoga proper. It can be considered preparatory to bhastrika.
The "yogis" on the left and right of Ram Dev are doing kapalabathi incorrectly. Notice that both of them are using accessory muscles during the demonstration. Their shoulders are moving and the "yogi" on the right is moving his arms. The whole body should be still with the exception of the abdomen. Continued with next post --->
The two guys on the left and right are students and not yogis. They have for sure not mastered the technique. But it shows that it is normal to take time to master this technique. So concentrate on the technique and what Swamiji is saying and less on other things.
After correctly doing this for 3 days i got acid reflux problem because of which my throat has swelling and i have difficulty in swallowing.

I want to lose 10 kgs in two months . Is it possible to lose 10 kgs in 2 months by doing kapalbhati for 2hours daily .
Any personal experiences ?
Many thanks
codingsolutions 2 years ago
Stop eating, fast. You could lose 10 kgs in 10 to 20 days depending on your body type, but then why would you want to do that ?
This breathing technique won't do it for you, you must restrict food intake.
It's a knife fork and spoon problem !

100% guaranteed results.

Best exercise ever i've done. My digestive system has improved drastically, acidity is gone. My throat problems are also cured.

@dtejas i stammer can kapalbhati cure me?
geturselfbacktowork 9 months ago
@geturselfbacktowork I cant say. But Kapalbhati helps you control breath. And if breath is in control your speech will improve.
dtejas 7 months ago
@dtejas I got acid reflux from doing this
rrr1177 7 months ago
@rrr1177 You need to do it with empty stomach. Do it early in the morning before consuming any food.
dtejas 7 months ago
@dtejas I did it right after waking up at 5 in the morning with empty stomach but still got acid reflux

magnifi 4 years ago
U breathe in thru ur stomach and exhale thru the nose keeping ur mouth shut!
VeerGill 3 years ago 2
magnifi, don't consciously try to breath in. Only concentrate on the exhalation. The inhalation will happen automatically without conscious effort.

just like when you cough, yo breath out as your tummy contracts.

any breathing exercise is pranayama but in this case this is both pranayama and lung purification:)

it is preparing you for bhastrika, bhastrika will break all knots, it is to breath fully out fully in, you can hold the breath if it feels good
