bristol 50- acres was the place too be too see them in rochester back then i was 18 and had a rocket in my pocket back then and i freckin loved them -- also i remeber one night going too bristol ski lodge and seeing jr walker and the all stars they were great too -doing there tune -shot gun -- they were great great days back then i wish i could live them just for one more weekend -what a party!!!!!!!!!!
I used to hang out at The Inferno back in the 1960s and loved Wilmer. Every time they covered 'Reach Out' Wilmer had people up on the tables. I'd bet I'm the only person around today who can remember the name of the one-hit wonder internationally known band that played The Inferno on the Sunday night before it burned down on a Monday morning.
i was in a community college in upstate New York (Corning) in the fall of 1968 and I went to their concert at our school and they were fantastic - This song was a huge hit and got a lot of air play. It was very popular with the college scene.
1968 was the year that I turned 18! What a year - I saw many cool bands at the Inferno before it burned down and before that, as a child every Sunday our parents took us to the rides at the amusement park right there on the property! Great memories, Thanks! People of my age in Buffalo, NY still know who Wilmer and the Dukes were and remember the Inferno.
Hi Mike.. My Band the Cavemen from Buffalo worked with Wilmer & The Dukes at the Inferno. He's a great guy.. We had lots of fun working with the Dukes. The Inferno Burnt to the Ground (they say it was an inside job!) Mr. Goldstein needed the money!! My Dad use to play there in the 50's when it was The Glen Casino. It also was a small amusement part.. Dad took us there on Sundays.. Thanks for posting these great songs.. Joey
Saw them outside of Rochester at Bristol 50 acres and Bristol Mountain. They covered Sly and the Family Stone soo good and their own original music was the best
Yep someone said they played at the Inferno, I remember that...did they also play at "Gilligan's" or was it Uncle Sam's on Walden Ave. in Buffalo and why does " You Tube" always stop and start...the video and/or music, anyhoot..a great band....give me one more chance....Jerry, West Seneca
The best, most famous band no one ever heard of. The essence of soul and a great show. Saw them at Syracuse U a bunch of times. Never failed to drive the place nuts.
@ArniepII Glen Park is still there and is now a Williamsville municipal park. I went there when I was a little kid in the early 1950s. It still had five cent rides at least until 1970, maybe longer.
Yeah I had this on a 45....we loved this in Central PA, too....deserved much more airplay.....!!!!

The Inferno was in Williamsville NY actually. I went there as a kid. Still have pics of my folks going there before it burned down. How weird!
