This was one of the only fights in bleach were I didnt like the ending, I feel ichigo shouldve lost in this one, he had just barely beaten ikkaku and renji was at least twice as strong as him, and the injuries ichigo had were insane, yet at the last minute he somehow burst forth with some unseen power and got him in one blow, no, it didnt seem realistic... I think this fight shouldve ended with ichigo falling to the floor rather than renji

@sSdestinySs its not the animation that im bashing, i just felt it shouldve came out differently... And i didnt necessarily mean realistic in terms of our world, i meant it according to the anime itself, hollow masks and spiritual pressure is real in the anime, therefore its not unrealistic in those terms regarding the anime itself. But im saying in the anime, they usually have fights that are semi realistic, this i felt, was to over the top

Ichigo learns Bankai right before the big fight with Kuchiki - which was after this fight with Renji.

Ichigo doesn't really learn how to use the mask until the Vizzard teach him, until that happens, anytime he fights with the mask on (such as against Kuchiki), it's because his inner hollow forcefully takes over (because of a love of fighting, and because of a fear that Ichigo can't keep them alive).

Well, going into details, it was the Urahara event that awakened or created the inner hollow and until the vizzards, the only time it came out was to protect Ichigo (the host) or to try and take over. The vizzards taught Ichigo how to control the inner hollow and its powers and now he can use them at will. It was indeed there all this time but it was separate and uncontrollable. It was more of his enemy than a form or power he could use.
