  • Simply Beautiful.....What a soulful voice, a beautiful voice.......LUV IT, LUV IT......

  • Love the song... both versions. #respect

  • awesome

  • awesome..

  • It's artists & music like this we "need" to have in the music industry making & writing music that touches/reaches the mind, body,& soul!! God Bless Mr. Shannon Sanders GOD BLESS

  • I love this song. This is how it should have been sung. Heather Headley was okay, but this is infinitely better. IMAGINE if Mary J Blige would have sung this instead of HH????!!!!

  • Thats a baddddddd cut! And so , so , so true. Reminds me of my college sweetheart. We had our future all mapped out , but she allowed herself to be convinced that the grass was greener on the other side , and is still paying for it to this very day. I've done well for myself and by now , she would have been a housewife instead of a worker bee. Oh well baby girl, some mistakes you cant take back.

  • Oddly I like this. But, I like the remake better.:)

  • Awesome, just Awesome

  • Simply great, I love his voice.

  • Luv it....Itz amazing how AMAZING his voice is....When I first heard his version, I wuz like u betta sang!!!!!

  • i never heard this man til today i gott to admit i fucking love his voice gosh i want to me loved like he singing

  • lol he is just right

  • omg he sang this song <3

  • ...this man.

  • Good job Shannon. Real talk.

I lost my beautiful queen two years ago,

But in MY mind, she'll ALWAYS be my lady...ALWAYS.

  • This dude is definitely putting his all into this song!! He's singing it with so much passion, pain, feeling!!! Never heard of this gentleman until a couple of days ago. He truly deserves more exposure.

  • This dude has been around for a long time and gets very little exposure. His album, "Out of Nowhere" is one of the best complete albums of the neo era. Shannon Sanders is simply "Great".

  • this sounds great i like both versions

  • Wow.... I'm speechless. This guy is like an Anthony Hamilton with a more urban soul eclectic feeling. I can't really describe it.

  • Of course, someone who never heard the original version is going to like Heather Headley's version better. Young people always do this. My only beef with Heather is changing the words at the end. She changed the whole meaning of the song with that politically correct garbage.

  • All I can say is "Tight"!!!

  • His version gives me goosebumps and shakes my soul!! Everyone has one of those "In my mind" people in their lives. Shannons' version makes me wanna pick up the phone and call him.

  • LOVE THIS SONG! go tennesse lol i was mad when that heather chick redone this....it sucked! didnt have soul like this

  • I have been playing this for the past few days ~ it has prompted me to learn more about shannon's music ~ absolutely loving his sound!

  • I first heard this song on Sirus XM radio I was on my way to work at 4am and this song made me cry my soul out because it seemed as if this man was singing directly to me and it touched my soul, not to mention I was in a very bad relationship and I did not know how to leave but after this song it was very clear and easy how to leave!!! Ladies if u are in a situation like mine its always a way out!!! Trust me.....

  • whoa !!

  • Shannon Sanders is one of the most talented songwriters (acknowledged) and singers in the entertainment world. Sad thing is, his bad business decisions when he made this album stunted his true potential. This album "Outta Nowhere" is still a classic and would give any album out now a run for its money. This brother covered every topic in society and did it all from the heart as he was just a brother given the chance to spit his work. Much respect to Southern Way Records as a unit!!!!!!!

  • Heard this song 9 years ago with him. He kills it, hands down....He actually produced Heather's version, played keys on it and sang background vocals... original is always best. all from the heart...

  • @chellista Wow nine years ago. Thats good he did that for her, but like you said original is always the best!!

  • @biglex904 @biglex904 yeah and the song is probably about 12 years old if not more. you should check out the album. :)

  • Where can i download this song at without viruses?

  • I remember going to and India.Arie performance at the House of Blues in New Orleans with a friend back in 2003 (I believe). Shannon opened for India and we received a CD called "The Bootleg" with various songs from India's band, Shannon, and even India herself. This song was on that album. VERY Powerful!!!!

  • @phybroptyx1999 Correction: Shannon was there performing with India, but he did not open... I remember now... It was Anthony David. He performed "Cold Turkey" amongst others.

  • @phybroptyx1999 Yeah that "bootleg" cd is one of my faves

  • i feel u man im going though the same pain with my love of my life

  • No disrespect to Heather Headley. Her version of this song was great. BUT... Shannon vocally, soulfully, literally... totally owns this sing! She was only borrowing it. This has been my jam since I first heard it years ago on 'Outta Nowhere'. And it doesn't matter who covers it after Shannon, in my mind, this will always be HIS song. Thanks for posting this!

  • The song is so powerful! I love both versions!

  • The orignal is all ways better...

  • hes better but she song it first but i love the way he singss

  • I like Heather's version better. Maybe cause I'm use to hearing it instead and this version just sounds off. Love his voice though

  • heather headley version is good but.... shannon is jumping--jumping

  • Listen, I Love this song! It rocks no

matter who sings it. Eddie...... U know I'll always B yo girl.

  • Love it!!!

  • Deep!!!!!! I love Heather H version, but this is the Jam!

  • fucken best songgggggggggg... the words kill ittttttttttttttttt

  • Dude killed it!WOW

  • I love this!!!!

  • wow! i would love to hear him sing this Live!!! heather did a great job too, but it's somethin about a man singing about a love lost. what is he doing now? Truly a SOUL SINGER!

  • Wow i must admit i never heard of Shannon Sanders over here in germany b4- but GOD DAMMMMN he was killin it!!! He and Heather should sing that joint together! I also give him *****stars

  • sorry but even though he wrote it and sung it first heather sung it better

  • @Meanshots22 unfortunately you are wrong in this statement...shannon blows heathers version out the water

  • @Meanshots22 I'm with you on this one. Heather's version is the best.

  • @Meanshots22 prefer shannons.heathers was ok.

  • @Meanshots22 Although I love the way Heather sings this song, and I originally heard her sing it before I heard Shannon's version, but it is just something about the sultry singing voice of a man.

  • man look im from da ville an i remember back in like 99 98 when shannon was popn on 92q lol wit his 1st single an i got dat on tape but man dude is talented nashville really needs to support thre talent artist like keanthony aka cruna lil rossi G.H.O. d one an the whole diys fam all star an many others coz they got talent to make it

  • Shannon; I remember you bought me steak & mash at 3am...just how did you manage that miracle ? xx

  • he killed this! he & heather should do this together!

  • i know!!!

  • and it's gonna be country like we are from Nashville, Tn.lol

  • hi this is my cousin he wrote the song along time ago! He sold the song to her and now he is producing India Arie! I love this song because it really is part of his life just like the song on his album about our grandad.

  • nah trust me heather is the hit the soul the everything hers beat this one all the way

  • i love his version!!! its alot more powerful than heather. so much and soul and emotion is put into it!!

  • He killed this song. Did he write it?

  • i think he wrote this awhile bak.

  • ima total r&b head, i absolutely love HIS version. I like the twang in his voice. Shanon, you should have kept this gem for yourself.

  • A perfect way to describe me :)

  • Sorry but Heathers is way better. Hers is very heartfelt, his is too but the cursing & this just had a touch of country to it. Great songs from both artist

  • r u mad (just my opinion) Shannon dropped this around 1999 or thereabouts at around the same time as Maxwell was really doing his Neo - thing and people were searching for more soul. As they say Taste is in the Eye of the Beholder. My vote is for the original.... Big-up Shannon...

  • It makes perferct sense, Only a MAN WOULD THINK NO MATTER WHO THE OTHER PERSON IS WITH THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE HIS,LOL... Awsome song man!!! There is so much soul in your voice

  • I argree

    but Heather turn it out

I am listen to this for verison for awhile

see where She got the soul from

She had to rock it Since he wrote and preform it first

  • slang is not ignorant, it is a form of communication. someone using slang can be a completely rational thinker who is capable of expressing a coherent thought. them appearing ignorant to you shows your inability to see the functionality in language.

  • Mrobin,

God Bless you my friend and I wish the absolute(sp) best for you. ;)

  • k thats cool

  • You tried to put word in my mouth and I didnt let you, so you come back with a second attempt. WOW! Ill say it again I never said he was black, white, blue or green. I simply stated the following: Like my grand mother said, do not show your color You automatically assumed I though he was black and related that to bad English so, shame on YOU!

  • you relayed to Youcantseedre what your grandmother said to you, Do not show your color. you said that because of the language he used. you essentially told him not to show his color. white parents and grandparents do not warn their children not to show their color. nobody associates slang with being white. i admitted that you did say he was black outright, but you sure did insinuate that he was. if you thought he wasn't black, your grandmother comment would not have made sense.

  • lastly, the purpose of language is to communicate. the purpose is not to prove that one can write or speak properly. someone is better served being comfortable proper english as well as slang. you believing that slang equates to an appearance of ignorance is a testament to the narrow mindedness of those who teach english(whether you teach it or not ;since you have a problem with insinuation).

  • this version has so much more emotion. when i listen to this i feel as though i'm listening to a friend vent their emotions! i almost teared up...my punk sister was feeling this song so tough SHE DID cry...lil punk

  • I love this version. This is the original they say. Heather's version I thought was brilliant, but this is a good version as well. Nice to hear it sung from a male perspective. Thanks for the post.

  • Youcantseedre,

Calm down.. and please work on representing yourself better when typing on the internet. Words like dat, dey, wit & aint only make you sound foolish and uneducated. Like my grandmother said, "Do not show your color" and I'll add my 2 cents by saying, "especially on the internet.

...yes, This man can sing ;)

  • why is it necessary for him to do that, and how do u know he's black? the internet is not an academic forum or an english paper. him typing "dey" is not sufficient to indicate his level of intelligence or how he represents himself in academic circles. maybe he is relaxed while on youtube

  • I never said he was black, white, blue or green and you should also take my advice when it comes to grammar. If you display yourself as ignorant on the internet.....chances are you probably display the same action in public. God bless.

  • now on to the ignorance argument, i do not treat youtube as if it were one of my english papers. i feel sorry for the person that does. generally speaking, i dont like writing proper english on youtube because it takes too long. if i wanted to write "dey" as opposed to "they" or "u" as opposed to "you", it is usually to save time.

  • that was my fault, you insinuated that you thought he was black with this line " Like my grandmother said, "Do not show your color"

however, any black person who reads the comment will understand, immediately after reading it, that you meant exactly what you insinuated.

  • Sweetheart, you must be smoking crack if you actually think Heather can't sing. Heather got her start on Broadway, where strong vocals are must. Her version is more polished and sung from a mature woman's perspective. Shannon is a damn good artist and a wonderful writer. His version was song from a soulful mans perspective. Both artist can sing their behinds off. So there is no need to bash Heather just to praise shannon. They're both talented.

  • Shannon is a very cool brother and incredible artist. I can't wait to his album drops this year. I shot a DVD feature of a day in his life. You can see the video on my page.

  • Brotha, you SANG this song! Love Heather's version and love this one, too!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this - first heard this version on XM and loved it immediately. He and Heather both do proper justice to the song with their respective versions. Love them both.

  • I love this song so much it make me calm and think back and woooo i jus love it he got a nice vioce this song takes my breath away :)

  • I started out not wanting to like Shannon's version of this song (yes, I know he sang this song first ;), but I like it. I think it's more emotional than Heathers; the lyrics are different which in a way make both songs unique. I can't say one is better than the other, I think it depends on the listeners mood when they hear it, too bad theres no video for this one. Thanks for sharing/posting.

    =^,,^=att

  • When yall perform this song let me play the drums. Asap. I love this song Period!!!!!!!

  • Shannon Sanders A True R & B Artist from the heart, If you listen closely " He's crying to this woman HE's sing about" The actual pain in voice" Is His soul singing out this song.... Music with a passion, has the tendency....To touch us, the listeners...So we can feel the Realness of his soul, Pure { Unfiltered} R & B Does the Body Good!

  • I'm feelin this i wish i could forget that chick but its hard!!!!

  • I love Shannons version of this song...You can hear how much he loves that woman...I've always wanted to be loved like that...

  • 1snkyfrk, I don't claim to know the answers to everything, but the vibe i get from your question is, that this guy friend of yours has deep feelings for you, because he's trying to tell you no matter what you do in your life, inside of his mind you will always be his #1, Understand this when people {guys or girls} have something to relay to the other person but are either afraid to say it or just don't know how, the use songs like these to get the message, because music like this is ginuine.

  • thank u so much, da one thing dat's botherin is "he's married and so am i" and no im not a homewrecker, so i know dat it's over between us, we were involved years ago. i just kinda needed a male point of veiw. i don't know if dis changes wat u think he is sayin or not....

  • 1snkyfrk, When you mentioned about a certain gentleman was giving you the vibe that he may still had feelings for you from the past. Then You mentioned He was Married, Again I don't claim to have all the answers. However Marriage is a union created by God...And with you being married yourself " You know exactly what i mean. So with that said, He may still have or had thoughts of you both from the past. But You both have to let the past be the past.any feelings that was there, let it go no further

  • thanks so much, i hadn't planned on lettin it go any further, it just kinda caught me off guard..and had me thinkin..

  • Anthoni8 turned me onto this song. It's great. I like it way better than Ms. Headley's (even though hers is pretty good too).

  • Hey Bandee, Thanx for giving me Recognition...I'm JUst trying to show people the actual artist to some of these songs...Thanx Again!

  • Ginuine R&B Music is based on different artists life experiences, which creates music the touches the very essence of our souls.

This is truly off the hook. :)
