  • Actually it's not an exact port. The level select cheat has changed and you can't choose to play as either Sonic or Tails or the options to disable Tails following Sonic.

  • I just wonder why they didn't release sonic 3 D: I like that the most

  • u can get an emulator version on the Android.

  • Sonic 1 and 2 for the iPhone/iPod touch are very good ports in my opinion although it has some minor issues Sonic 4 for it is awesome as well

  • @appspy awesome, never managed to finish original, just not sure if im ready to pay $4 for it

  • good old megadrive, still got it and sonic and tales 2. never finished the game because you couldnt save. does this game include the full gameplay?

  • @M00S33 It's the whole thing minus co-op :)

  • why didn't you show the spin-dash in your review? wanted to see how smoothly that game mechanic transitioned to the iphone controls.

  • Is on sale on the App Store, all profit will go to earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan, buy it!!

  • I dont like iphone just because it has ONLY the touch screen and not some physical keyboard like Nokia N97 or Sony Ericsson Xperia phones... but other than that i think iphone is a great phone.

  • I hate using the screen for platform games. I wish my iphone had some physical controls, even if it would be "ugly" in Steve Jobs eyes.

  • @djcondra There are people still working on getting external physical controls approved - if they can it'll be a great boon for gaming on the iDevice :)

  • @AppSpy That would be so cool. It would be perfect if I could dock my iPhone in a basic joypad.

  • @djcondra do a google search for 'gamebone' - that's exactly what they're creating :) Basically you dock your iDevice in to it and you get physical controls, stereo speakers and I believe it also acts as a battery extender to give you a bit more life when playing 3D games.

  • @AppSpy That looks GREAT! cheers :)

  • It's weird that the framerate for the first sonic is perfect, but the framerate for the second is a tiny bit choppy. Just a tiny bit, but it's manageable.

  • The sound isn't %100 perfect. Some of the emulation is off.

  • I have this game on my old gameboy

  • great review, thanks

  • In short, go get a SEGA Gopher instead. Their like 50 bucks, actual buttons and they take SD Card, PLUS it connects to your TV! Boom Shakalak!

  • why is that game fuckin slow on my iphone??

  • @dieinacrash Because the game uses an emulator and it's not optimized for use on all iDevice platforms.

  • XD Toaster! True sega'll use anything to push sonic, even mario XD

  • omg lol.

  • Even the crappist of computers have clocked 2D graphics. Just lazy programming on SEGAs part. Dont think I'll buy it and ruin the dream.

  • this game sux t.t

  • @loveinblade No, this game is good but the emulation is bad.

  • It's on a toaster?

  • @pizzadude808 It's on everything else... I'm sure someone's made it work on a toaster ;)

  • damn!! i dont have enough money to buy this.. :( 1$ short

  • Look no different to the first version, what makes it different?

  • @FizzySherbet The game is emulated using proprietary software from SEGA (or such is my understanding). The game itself is exactly the same, but the controls and performance (frame rate etc.) are generally substandard. Some 3GS owners are even experiencing bad framerates, but as you can see from our video I had no issue - but in testing older units including my personal phone it was significantly slower.
