@centerforce2 JEM definitely had soap opera attributes, and the original writer Christy Marx has said so herself. She said she enjoyed writing the soap opera elements. :P
But of course, the show was definitely not aimed at 4 year olds. lol. Or at least, you would have to be somwhat older than that to appreciate the soap-opera style drama and all the love affairs etc.
I now see Nick Mann from this clip as a prototype for Riot. Or rather, Riot was a much more fleshed-out version of Nick Mann.

A lot of th earlier episodes actually have Jerrica saying he needs to stay on as Jem's manager. I think she's confused on who she wants him to be with just as he is confused as to who he wants to be with. Mixed signals all around, and for the same person!

Jerrica should have been straight up about him and should not have pursued him under her alter identity but naive Rio should have been faithful in the first place. At least he chose Jerrica towards the end of the series. Who knows? If he ever finds out the truth, he will realize that he has not lost anything and will have the best of both worlds in one.

Have to agree with @JhomasE - Jerrica should have told Rio the truth. Best show ever!!!!! It's been a very, very long time since I have visited JEM, such a good show for young girls. Promoting feminine strength, empowerment, and good morals. So fun to watch, I wanted to grow up and be Jem.

It's not all about lyrical content. This is a mistake being made too much these days which is why music is the way it is. There's an art in melody as well. And when it comes to that Jem is queen. Catchiness taken to a higher level. That's what this music is all about!

Best show ever!!!!! It's been a very, very long time since I have visited JEM, such a good show for young girls. Promoting feminine strength, empowerment, and good morals. So fun to watch, I wanted to grow up and be Jem.

i prefer jem over hannah montana of these reasons: that the songs only last a minute is good, cause you are entertained and its hard to get bored in so short time. they have a morale and something to say. and best of all, the singers actually CAN sing without all of those fancy-pancy machines that could make even paris hilton a singer. that is raw talent. am gonna feed ma ipod with jem songs now!:D

When I was a kid (ok, even now) the Starbright saga Jem songs were always there in my mind. lol, everytime I encountered a situation, an appropriate Jem song would pop into my head. For instance, my first crush in school (age 7)! and how he sat with Emma at recess!!!!!

to paraphrase from one episode: He's only jerrica's boyfriend when she's around. once she disappears he runs after Jem like a lovesick puppy. however I think he truly did find out about her. look for the episode where there is a reward to find out who Jem really is. he was at the door and heard jerrica talking about everything and he runs into the other room in shock. he might have thought he was hearing things wrong but I think he knew.

It's not all about lyrical content. This is a mistake being made too much these days which is why music is the way it is. There's an art in melody as well. And when it comes to that Jem is queen. Catchiness taken to a higher level. That's what this music is all about!
