Tony Lucca is my favorite musician. This performance is so awesome because I know that he is drunk and just feeling the music so hard that he falls and busts his ass! The best part is that he gets right back up and brings it on home!
Because it's true? Bright Eyes' version was the one on The Late Great Daniel Johnston: Discovered Covered. I did the research and can't find any evidence of Lucca doing it earlier than that. Can you please point to it?
Oh I didn't mean someone covered it before Bright Eyes, I meant a lot of people think that this is Bright Eyes song originally. And I didn't know Daniel Johnston died...I think hes touring in the mid west as we speak.
I never said that it wasn't originally Daniel's. BUT daniel's doesn't have any music in it. The Bright Eyes version added the music, the sweet solo, the woman vocalist at the end. This guy didn't cover Daniel's version, he covered Bright Eyes'. It's damn near identical.
Just because his version sounds identical to theirs doesn't mean he's covering their version. This performance was very Tony, especially when it comes to his friends singing backup for him.
Jeff Buckley covered John Cale's version of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. That ended up being one of his most popular songs. It isn't copying its covering. It is the same thing here. He covered bright eye's version of "Devil Town" by Daniel Johnston.
lol! Well, I was always taught that if you make a mistake on stage, you do just what he did. Hopefully I could follow that if I ever did anything like that. And also, Hopefully he wasnt injured...of course if he was, it undoubtedly wasn't serious. I agree though, he was a very good sport about it!
Oh the whole place started busting up, and him right along with it. You can see him there a little before he pulls it together, but yeah, afterwards he was laughing. I think, if anything, he was embarrassed by it but he wasn't hurt :D
I personally think even funnier than Tony falling is Tim Jones running after him and taking care of him LOL And I don't know if it's THE most gorgeous, but it's definitely on my top 5 ;o)
Daniel Johnston did this song originally, i do prefer Lucca`s cover over bright eyes, but both are still really good!

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe because it's the most "popular" version of the song? *shrugs*

Actually, it's a cover of Daniel Johnston's song, which was originally released the song in 1990.

Thank you for your contribution. Maybe we can just put this whole issue to bed and just enjoy the song :)

Actually, it does. Unless Bright Eyes covered Tony's version.

He was a good sport about it. I don't know if I would have.. I'd probably be bright red and would have no control over me laughing uncontrollably.
