First, if you'll indulge me, this engine had six, not four exhausts per revolution of the driving wheels. Second, that is not the whistle sound those engines carried. No, they had 5-chime whistles.
In case you haven't seen it, I do have a second video of this locomotive uploaded that does have better picture quality. But who knows, maybe I'll try and make another.
A 3 cylinder steam locomotive should have 6 chuffs per revolution. Even though this is not prototypical with only 3 chuffs per revolution , it's still a nice locomotive in my opinion.
How many cars can this pull? I couldn't even begin to make a guess. But I think the only thing to limit how many cars it could pull would be the size of the layout.
i was grovin on the ho stuff but it takes maintnence and the track is hard to manage plus its hard to get funtionoing trucks or cars or aviation to go with so i got over the third rail and went to atlas track one good train and 1/43 slot cares by scx new tech a lot more less hassel
I feel like O scale manufactures make some of the best locomotives around as far as performance as well as detail. I just can't get over the unrealistic 3rd rail...
Actually, this locomotive gets around the curves pretty well. The wheels on the first drive axle and the fifth drive axle are flanged. The others are not. Lionel calls for 0-72 or larger. The curves in this video are 0-81, so it doesn't have a problem. For a big locomotive, it is very smooth.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, these were large locomotives. They were one of the largest rigid frame locomotives ever built.
