I cannot believe that is Van Dyke Parks as the lute player! That just blows my mind. I watched this as a kid, and then as an adult I became a huge fan of Brian Wilson's "SMiLE" album, for which he wrote the lyrics.
I didn't realize he did this part until watching this now for the first time since I was a kid. I used to sing the "golden ball" song back then, and to see now that it's Van Dyke Parks that sang that just blows my mind.

Yes, he also composed a lot of the music for Faerie Tale Theatre. You've got to love him. He wasn't afraid to stand up to that stuck-up princess.
