  • Why is it that suddenly people need to have everything "tailored" to suit their apparent "needs"? Amazingly enough we (people) managed to stay fit and healthy for a verrrrrrrry long time without knowing what freaking body type we are. Losing weight is hard, I had to lose 25Kilos myself, but I did it the old fashioned way. No books, no "diets", no "tailored routines". Eat well and exercise at least 3 times a week. This exercise really doesn't need to be more than cardio and light weights. Be Well

  • @Wanderer3133 I think you're missing the point. She's pointing out that these people looking at "thinspiration" stuff online may never be able to look that way. Their body types wouldn't allow it so their ridiculous goals become even more unattainable and harmful. Anyway, you absolutely can get in shape "the old fashioned way" but tailoring your fitness plan to your body type can be more productive if you are interested enough to learn about it.

  • Im a mesomorph.... and I guess I'll enjoy it more when I get older xD, I have been working out since I was 13 and now I'm in college and I look athletic, problem is In puerto rico most girls are pear shaped, even trough most of them after some college years and stuff get really fat, now I feel kind of not normal, I'm curvy but not where I'm supposed to, wht to do xD

  • The cool part is that whichever body type you are, it's still quite possible to be healthy and in good shape. It'll just be a different shape. Also, focusing solely on weight is a complete waste of time. I've been doing high cardio and strength training for a month, so I haven't lost a single pound. I have muscle and lost a bit of fat, and my breathing is so much better already. I'd rather get more fit and capable first than simply smaller.

  • To all people who are confused with the word "somato": It's actually part of the word "somatotype", which derives from the ancient greek word "soma" meaning "body" ("typos" is also a greek word). So "somatotype" is basically just another word for "body type".

  • I don't know what body type best describe me. I'm so confused because I'm 72kg but I'm about 5ft3 I have skinny small feets and hands are small and skinny too but my waist is quite slim. I seem to store a lot of weight around my thighs ,bottom, hips, my upper arm's my face seem to gain a lot weight fast so I have chubby face and i gain weight so fast but it's hard to lose  weight please let me know what my body type help would be appreciated thanks x

I don't know whether I'm an endomorph or a mesomprph, cause I'm thinner and lankier than the endomorph but my face has a roundish bone structure but taller. I don't have the extreme muscle of the mesomorph drawings.

    You might be a combination of both body types. This is possible and the three types are much more complex for women due to our shapely fiqures.

  • Some ectomorphs can reach size zero fine. Usually for endomorphs and mesomorphs, hair starts to fall out/bones start to stick out/periods stop etc.... before then. Besides, most people just look like a rake at size zero anyway, so why bother?

  • I am pretty sure I am Endomorph. But its cool. I like to exercise on my spare time and eat healthy. The only time I will become out of shape is when I don't take care of myself. You are right that everyone is different and needs different supply of nutrients. I am living proof that no matter what your bone structure is. There is a way to be fit, healthy and sexy. You just have to see what works best for you. I love the way I look and wouldn't trade myself for anyone. Thanks for uploading! :)

  • @Slipknotfanka You may disagree, but besides all the different "morph" body types, more importantly there are different bones types as well. Judging by the wrist bone, some people are naturally meant to be thin while others of about the exact same height may have much larger wrist bones that indicate their bodies are naturally meant to be larger. You cannot have less flesh upon a bone structure that is larger than average. Body frames and bodily flesh normally should be proportional.

  • well i disagree with one thing - 'not everybody is ment to be thin'; i think everyone can archieve being thin, not skeletally, but it's a matter of will and excercises, and knowing stuff about food calories and vitamins.. i dont think weight is a matter of 'ment to be', that's all

  • @PurpleNymph mmh yea thats bit of a problem, im ectomorph too, i dont know how your lifestyle is but eating 6 times a day is crucial for an ectomorph and grabbing as much weight as possible, but then again it depends on what you want, if you look at k1, thaiboxing etc an ectomorph bodytype can really be at the advantage cause they are long! ;-)

    You're naturally light. I'm naturally heavier. Never was able to cut down below 160 lbs, I'm a cross of mesomorph and endomorph, At 5'11", 19 years old, I fight light heavyweight at 173 lbs, but I walk around at about 180lbs. So why is it that some people are the same height and relatively have the same body size, yet one weighs 30 lbs less than the other? Does this has anything to do with why some people can't float by nature?

  • "Thinspiration" has been on the internet since the internet came out. Most of the people that get into the thinspiration thing have Body dysmorphic disorder. Your video is was pretty good, informing a lot of people that probably had no clue.

  • im 130 pounds 5'10 at 20 years old but i been 130 pounds since i was 13 the biggest i got was 155 when i was actually working out when i was 17. I find it very hard to get back in shape now that i have lost so much weight =/

  • I'm a ectomorph and hate having to eat so much food just to keep from looking anorexic. I can't even do cardio because it eats all the muscle I'm trying to gain. I'm so sick of having everyone tell me I should gain weight. I know I eat 3000+ calories a day. What really sucks is I love to swim but feel like it will just prevent me from reaching my ideal weight 180lb at 6ft. I weight 170lb now but I was 125lb for the longest time and then 145lb for a couple of years. I'm lifting heavy it's helps

  • Sweetie, almost everything you say is right on except for one thing. Even though ectomorphs have great difficulty putting on muscle mass (almost as much difficulty as an endomorph has losing fat) and they can easily lose what they've gained if their discipline wavers, it doesn't mean they can't grow big and strong enough to compete in any kind of posing event. In fact, many of them over the years can achieve incredible results....

  • @eddiegetsbuff youll always be an endomorph but you can train to look like an mesomorph you'll always have a different skeletal system and weight issues but easy muscle gain endomorphs get pretty big and strong when training correctly

  • @dementedcartoonz It's how you eat,sleep and workout ..for example don't be lazy ,move ,walk,ride a bike,eat less calories ,less sweet , don't sleep for 458975645065 hours lol,eat healthy stuff ex:(greens) ....i hope that helped a little ... :)

    If you can't do non of these it's simple just walk for 1-2hours daily..

  • I'm an ectomorph, it's the worst thing to be, I work my ass off each week and have very little to show, it's hard to look muscular so it's hard to want to work out. (if you can understand)

  • Im definately mesomorph.. I used to hate it cos I have crazy muscular thighs n calves and I used to TRY so hard to be like those models you featured.. But you know what? I actually got down to about 5kgs UNDERweight... I STILL had the thighs and calves.. So ladies you CANT change your body type.. Uve just gotta embrace it

    Your weight will take care of itself with a biochemically compatible diet. No great ape is too thin or fat eating natural food.

  • Hmm, I don't know what my body type is. My ribcage and chest bones are large so I look fat from the side, my hips are wide so overall I look pretty round,however I am very thin and really athletic, kind of bony, just a lil stubborn fat on the belly. I eat junk food and still my body doesn't change. I lose weight really fast, lost 25 lbs in three and a half weeks by jogging each day 6-8 kilometers. But that's perhaps because of my age. Moderately fast muscle growth. Whats my body type? :S

  • I'm a mesomorph. I've noticed, although I didn't intend to lose any fat, I didn't eat much in two days once and had to cycle an average distance and go up a steep hill twice a day. I lost about 2kgs in four days! My ability to gain muscle is also insane. When I began training with moderate weights I could already see significant results in only two days. Now if I only had the equipment for more intense strength training, I'm sure I would improve even more.

  • i'm a mesomorph Asian, 5ft9, and weight for now is 135 lbs. She describe me perfectly, I gain muscle like crazy, lose fat like there's no sweat and need very little work out to stay in shape(didn't work out for the whole summer but still got it 6 packs still popping out) Whenever I need to work out, I just do superman push ups and run/sprint for a bit and 3 lbs will be lost in 4 days. Woo! I'm set for life

  • No. I understood mesomorph. Endo's gain fat easily, and meso's gain muscle easily, but also fat as well. Meso's absorb more of the food, and that includes both protein and fat. Whereas Ecto's don't absorb much to grow.

  • Mesomorphs also lose fat very quickly when they gain it because of their overall musculature. The more muscle you have, the more fat you can burn off easily.

  • Yeah sure. But just remember its the "capacity to gain muscle and/or fat". It's dependent on the person in each case and how they live and eat.

  • As much as you may want to be a mesomorph, its impossible unless you get surgery to change your bone structure. Somatype is determined by bone structure, not muscle mass. In other words, its very possible for an ectomorph to become obese, but that doesnt make him an endomorph. On the other hand, a pure endomorph will never look very skinny, even if they become annorexic. Their bone structure just prevents them from looking rectangular, as opposed to square.

  • If you take a look at a body builder, for isntance, its going to be very difficult to determine their somatype because of all that muscle mass. They may all look like mesomorphs because of that triangle shape, but there are probably some endo and ectomorphs as well. If you want accurately find your somatype easier, you need to have minimal fat and not TOO much muscle.

  • Actually, id say hes more of a mesomorph. I was looking at a picture of him and noticed his upper ribcage extends past his hips. I know it wasnt the muscle, because I saw his actual ribs. If he had higher bodyfat, I wouldnt have noticed it. Hes's either a mesomorph with some ecto characteristics, or an ecomorph with a lot of meso characteristics.

  • Guys! Even if youre an ectomorph , never just stand there and give up! Work out correctly , eat right , bulk up , then you can dry. For example i almost felt from the chair when my doc said that for us mesomorphs its much easier to work with hard weights. Me originaly being an ecto... changed alot. The iron will save you!
