Using the Custom White Balance won't help with the sharpness, just with the picture's color. It will make the color a bit more accurate than if you were to just use one of the preset options like tungsten. Try using a clean piece of paper, but a little bit of dirt shouldn't make that much of a difference.
is it really necessary to use custom w/b to get sharp pics?n if u do its only appropriate in the current situation right?wat if the paper is slightly dirty that eye cant see?
what is that number under one shot that says (709) my camera has (448)

@Babykez77, Hi. That number indicates how many pictures you have left to take before the memory card is full.
