A HAH AHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA OHMY OHMY OH MY That was priceless. Its camp at its best ! Loved the Eating Raoul type camp here. all the bits worked great and although it was all memorable I personally will take the memory of the Shroud Of Martha Graham as the one thing to remind me how hyaterical this was.
@222888matty No, it is KRISTIAN HOFFMAN, from his new full length CD which was just released on the 28th. He is a wonderful singer/songwriter who was originally with The Mumps in the late '70's and plays with Rufus Wainwright and others now...See his bio on kristianhoffman. com
PS: The great production of this reminds me of parts of films like Alice's Restaurant or Easy Rider (the psychodelic, bright colors, etc, etc). I RARELY see anything this creative and well produced in this say and age of "safe, sanitized" performances! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRAVO!!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VID!!! The production is FABULOUS, the song is FABULOUS and very catchy, and John Quale (the man behind the WONDERFUL Prince Poppycock) NEVER LOOKED BETTER, and he WAS JUST FABULOUS IN EVERY WAY in this performance!!!
I freaking LOVE this. I applaud John Quale for his bravery, being true to himself and participating in whatever project intrigues him without fear. I can't take my eyes off him. (I have to confess though - what do the food related parts mean?)
i know this is John Quale and not Poppycock but i don't think this coming out will be good for his career. LOVE the song!..not the video..and i LOVE Poppycock..but middle America might get turned off by this portrayal..just my opinion..but i DO love the song!
@satori03 Oh, I've seen worse. And it happened a long time ago. Just look up Madonna's old stuff, particularly the issues surrounding "Like A Prayer" and "Hanky Panky" as well as her "Sex" book. Controversy didn't kill her career: it made it.
@gamingpixie Well with Madonna ..she had a different reputation at the time..John is just getting started and i think this will upset much of middle class Americans.
Prince Poppycock is just starting and it's just my opinion but i don't think it';s a good move to portray Jesus as a simpering ridiculous figure. and i really want Prince Poppycock to succeed
@satori03 Call it a feeling, but he'll be fine. IMO, the folks who'll really get set off by this sort of thing... probably wouldn't have been that into him to begin with. And if there's any actual controversy, quite a few people will gravitate towards him BECAUSE of it, not in spite of it.
(This isn't even his first go-round as a potentially controversial Jesus, BTW. That may be part of why, to me, this just isn't that big a deal.)
@satori03 He was in a play called The Beastly Bombing. There are videos of it here. Look up "Beastly Bombing John Quale" and it should be the first result.
If it helps put you at ease, though, I'm a real live Christian. A liberal one, but still a Christian. ^^ Personally, I found this video too silly to be offensive -- kind of like watching a parody of stuff that's supposed to be offensive. (The, ah, "artistic merit" of Mr. Quale's exquisite physique also helped sweeten the deal. ;))
@gamingpixie I'm kind of a born again heathen and the portrayal really bothers me..can't say why..other than what i stated before..maybe i need to lighten up...
i really liked the song though..Big Time..the artist is the one who was playing piano on AGT for John...Yes?
@satori03 - I think it's the Uncanny Valley effect. It seems like this *should* be offensive because it's so outrageous, but because of its silliness, it doesn't quite get there. I don't sense any malice here -- rather unusual for a work like this. But because it seems like it should be offensive, it feels like someone, *somewhere* should be really offended. ^^
Also, you're welcome, and yep: it's the same guy. :)
I agree with you. The "middle America" probably will take huge offense. Like you, I am religious, but view this as too silly to be offensive. I think that they should have skipped putting the guacamole on his face - - and then, they could have made this a lot more SEXY. Maybe put some Mary Magdalene in - something a bit more provocative. Or maybe some of the historical Jesus stories enacted, in a sort of "retro" way. More sexy, less silly - would sell better.
@satori03 I don't think middle America is going to get wind of this. I only found it through the Prince's Facebook page. Anyone who is there may already be clued into the total John Quale career.
Thank you Jesus, for this delicious video & rockin' song!

Is that John singing? If so, he's demonstrating yet again another dimension to his voice and his versatility in tackling any music genre.
