The fact that the stores only appeared in a very small circle around Detroit, Chicago and the northern midwest regions made their commercials even more rare. Their commercials were also some of the most creative and entertaining ones in existence.
Retrowinnipeg, all of the stores (Gardner-White, Crowley's, and Fretter) don't even exist in Winnipeg or in Manitoba. If you want to go to these sales back then, you will drive 1000 kilometres to go to all these sales which it would take all day to get to Detroit to go to these sales.
