Its just a reinforcement piece- to keep the deck from getting bent in if you hit something ( like a stump or something). It can be removed.

yeah, its been removed, i wasnt going to bother trying to fix it because the bolt holes were all stripped out, and it works just fine without it.

yea that metal peice isn't important at all, you can remove it with out troubles, glad to hear you didnt get hurt.
