The first time I heard this song in the album I suddenly found myself crying.

It's hard to explain to people what blind guardian are capable of with words and music.

Maybe I will say they are true bards, but still it's not enough.

You can feel the passion they put in storytelling, Hansi poetry is of another level, the music is outstanding. There's no one as intense as they can be. Amazing!!

Lets not hate on Death Metal and Black Metal. They enjoy awesome nerdy shit like Vikings and Toliken and they do it well within their genre but yes. It's nice to see some Freddy Mercury inspired singing in straight of Heavy Metal :D

Hansi is a perfect example of why technical precision is less important than style and artistry. Dude hits some pretty sour notes in this performance, but it's still so powerful. Same principle applies to Warrel Dane.

I agree about Warrel Dane, he kills most of the time and others not so much, hit or miss depending on what he's on. In this sessions it's different for Hansi. He's used to singing these songs but on a full stage at jam volume. It puts on alot of pressure doing a session and not really having your backing vocalists contributing. That plus the whole thing is played HELLA quiet.

Blind Guardian is THE only power metal band that i can listen and actually enjoy their music.They're powerful,never get stuck with the genre and are not afraid to cross musical boundaries and explore new rythms and sounds.Also,Hansi's voice is very agressive and melodic,very pleasing to the ear,unlike those ridiculously high pitched vocals that sound like alvin and the chipmunks on a bad hair day.

I actually listened to Opeth as you suggested, and they're not that bad, but as I had expected, much of it was just death growls. I'm not saying that bands like them are bad, but they will never be able to hold a candle to Blind Guardian.

@CornAndKorn While I agree that most death metal bands can't compare to Blind Guardian, I don't think it's fair to simply dismiss them because they choose to grunt. The grunting contributes to the atmosphere of that music. I don't think that you can just dismiss say Opeth can't compare to blind guardian because they growl. There are many power metal bands that can't hold a candle to blind guardian, and can't hold a candle to death metal bands.
