I think that sign is still there because the car gate doesn't cover the whole opening height. I think you are right, though, about it being treated as a passenger one.
actually, when you get to as many elevators as I have been to, and the variety, you will see that KONE very rarely used that chime, Schindler actually used the chime much more

see the keyhole for 5. maybe you can go to 5r and find a away around. maybe its used for moving large groups of people.

Thats a very unusual freighter. I have never seen one with a big metal door.

The passing chime makes me think it's a KONE. But other than that, yes, it does kinda look like a Schindler.
