One of the most confusing parts of the early Gumby cartoons is that they seem to be multi-parters when don't actually say they are. For instance, you can just see Robot Rumpus proceeding this.
And they're so many parts of when Gumby was on the moon that I just can't keep track.
The open, when Gumby's mowing the yar,d was on that strange talking baby show [predating "Look who's Talkin'","Rugrats", and the "ETrade Babies"] titled "Happy". Written by B.G.Loose, Emil [E-Meal] Cadkiin, and Jack C.Cookerly. BTW Judy Garland;s husband David Rose ghiost wrote that western Quick Draw/Huck cue at 0:34 [interrupted by the open mechanical theme].
LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!! Meester, I do a) post random trivia, b) have read a Gumby book, but it was a 1986 one and it's the internet that provided the info, as well as personal Cds and online sites regarding the music cues but am NOT c) (sigh) the curator of a Gumby Museum...if I WAS I was I would also write the DEFINITE book, not the basic fluff piece that the above [by a pair of authors who never appeared again'] was ..and the latest timeline would be 1968-69.
These all aired in longer versions, and were cut up into the shorter ones. Art Clokey played Gumby's dad and Pokey [familiar story? Creator does character's voice, dating from Walt Disney and mickey Mouse to Tex Avery and his zany creations and beyond.]
Art's said that a non-acting employee named Ruth Eggleston [was Gumby's voice [and possibly tha tof his mother as well].
Also, this and Robot Rumpus and other Pairs were originally longer episodes (as most kniow now) but edited oddly, in a way, with some footage saved, and two episodes usually sharing it, (but not always, as in the case of this and Roboit Rumpous, which actually DO contain separate footage)
And they replaced the end music with one of the closing themes ("Light Neutrael",Seely-Loose-Cadkin/Capitol).
The music replacement was pretty strange. But I know that cue was also used at the end of "In the Dough" and "Train Trouble," and then the regular end music title card.
Realy? No moral?
