The problem with Hollywood is that it was regulated for a long time by a fascist named Jack Valenti who, was not only in charge of the press photographers when Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas; but, as close friend of Johnson, was at his swearing in on Air Force One and later was assigned to head the Motion Picture Assn. by Johnson himself in 1966-merging Hollywood with fascist politics.

Human behavior is researched vey well. When something is done systematically, step by step,most people could be easily persuaded to accept any government decision, no matter how absurd it is.
All I can say is that as crime has risen, funding for law enforcement has not matched it. So in lieu of hiring more police, the cameras have allowed fewer police to monitor the streets. And besides, the first time one of these cameras helps police find and recover your kidnapped child, you won't be complaining again about a "police state." And BTW, "police state" means you can't post messages/videos like this.

It isn't the existance in a wya that is problematic but the use... there are good uses and bad uses, and one should always take not of potential bad uses... as long as overboard levels of insanity are avoided.
If you don't like the cameras (and who does?), then don't whine and complain "why isn't there a cop when you need one?" when someone mugs you or commits a crime in front of you, while you're voting against police budget increases via tax hikes.
