pilots from all around the world consider PIA as the best airline b/c of the routes it has..and the flexibility...especially in europe...ask any pilot this question...which airline has the best routes?...they will say PIA...PIA even runs various direct flights from North America to various different cities in pakistan...dats incredible...compared to emirates...it only goes to 1 city in UAE from few cities in North America...

By far the shittiest airline that is known to exist, their planes are ancient and reak of ass, and too make things worst the food is jus horrendous ass curryshit. I would recommend you save your $ and fly Etihad, Emirates, Cathy Pacific, or any other airline besides this one. P.S. Their flight attendants treat everyone in economoy like shit, so it's not worth it and this airline is in bankruptcy so youve no guarantee that your existing reservation will be valid the next day.

I love PIA because the food is awesome. However I did not like the service provided by the attendants. When I went back to Pakistan in 1997, the attendants were really rude.
I just wish my next experience with PIA is a good one.

But in all honesty, I think I will miss the atmosphere of PIA. This summer I have booked tickets to Karachi and unfortunately I will have to go from Etihad. PIA does not come to my city (Chicago) any more. I will miss the crying children, the greasy bryani, the overpriced souvenirs they sell you at the end of the flight, the pre flight dua, the boring instructional videos... I have not flown on any airlines in my life except emirates, Lufthansa, and Pia and i must say I will miss Pia.

Well I have been told that Ethihad is pretty nice. But I dont think I will be going on PIA any more. My dad got in touch with one of his friends which is a high ranking PIA official and he asked my dad to wait before booking because PIA was going to start operations in Chicago again starting from March 2010. We cancelled our Etihad ticket booking, but there was a small fee of $70 per ticket. Hopefully I will be able to fly on PIA.

Since you have not been to Pakistan in 25 years, you probably do not have a idea of how Pakistan will be. Well let me assure you that it is much more modernized that you would expect or portrayed by Western Media.

There is snow balls chance in hell that PIA will resume its Chicago route anytime soon.
BTW if it were to resume by March2010, it would have already been announced by now, as these agreements take months to finalize and are generally announced few months ahead to market the new route.
@NinezeroPlayer To begin with, this is probably my mistake because I did not mention that March is not the set month. The set date for operation to start in Chicago again can be deviated by about 1 or 2 months. And the High ranking PIA official I was referring to, to be more specific is the U.S Managing Director for PIA airline's operations.
And regarding Etihad, I am sure that Pakistani custom will be a bit more strict. But it is better to fly with your own people, as you know PIA has arguably the BEST PILOTS IN THE WORLD. And even though PIA will obviously be a bit more expensive than Etihad, as I said before the atmosphere of PIA and the fact you are flying with your people is priceless.
If you can spare the few hundred extra, PIA is much better than the others I have taken- better than Emirates, Etihad, KLM or BA. Ask others and compare their experiences.

@Shammwow Not really man, PIA is average compared to Emirates/Etihad. PIA is killed by its unpreditability, you might have a good flight with a good crew or a terrible flight with a crap crew.
@dargay.I've taken the North American flights a few times and I can say I would prefer PIA hands down to either Emirates, Qatar or Etihad. The ticket agents try to tell you that PIA is booked or that the seats aren't available so we often get stuck going thru UAU or Qatar. I think the travel agents get a better commission from the Gulf airlines. Anyhow, I don't think that any of them lives up to the hype and the food on PIA is definitely better. Maybe you're right- I've had good experiences.
@nooruddin47 . I bet I have travelled a great deal more than you. In fact I prefer the service and food on PIA to KLM and Lufthansa too. Perhaps I am biased but I truly do love my own airlines more than any other carrier after having tried others. As for the Gulf airlines- be it Etihad, Emirates or Qatar, they are just as empty as the corrupt Gulf governments that created them. You'll see in time that these flash in the pan airlines will fizzle out. Cheers.
@Shammwow What's even more sad is the fact PIA in the 1980s help set up Emirates, Gulf, Royal Jordanian and Air Malta. Look at where the first two airlines are and look where PIA is now. Even Pakistan Railway helped set up rail facilities in Zimbabwe and other East African countries during the mid 1970s and all those countries still have a decent functioning railway whereas Pakistan....you know the story. Crooks have ruined Pakistan sadly.
@oichakdeyphatay . Have you seen Zimbabwe railways recently or any of the rail systems in East Africa - trust me you are still better off with Pakistan railways. As for PIA, you forget that despite everything, people still prefer PIA over Gulf and Emirates- at least everyone I know who lives abroad would take PIA over these other airlines.
@Shammwow I still fly PIA, but I'm just saying. The airline could have become a regional carrier or even bigger had not been for mismanagement. Emirates and Etihad, meh...they're good, but I'm not a big fan of transits and layovers. Plus, a lot of Pakistanis fly them simply because of the fact it's CHEAPER and they lie and say "oh the service is better that's why I fly it". LOL pathetic needless to say. PIA is still the way for me...
@oichakdeyphatay . Agreed mate. We need to improve our national airlines and all of our services but we have only ourselves to blame for not making things better in our dear homeland. Like you I will always continue to take PIA despite the cheaper fares of the Gulf airlines.
I recently travelled on Etihad and let me tell you the service wasn't all that great. I saved about $300 on Etihad Coral class over PIA but it wasn't worth it. PIA may be more expensive but it's beter than Etihad. Etihad food was poor and the service not that great. I was surprised since Etihad has been rated #1 in the world among airlines but I am sure they just bribed someone or it was a political decision. Sure their planes are new but compared to Etihad and Emirates, PIA is much better.

i think little children cry because of the presurised cabin so it hurts them ( my view )
and the a310 can fly from amsterdam to lahore wow!!!!!!!!!
cause when i travel with pia they use the small a310 from doha to lahore or karachi!!! 3hrs flight hard work keeping my brother little 4 yrs old good thing he doesnt cry or u guys world kill him!!!!!!!!!!!!! (he has never cried uring takeoff or landing in his lfe because he is too busy looking out the window)

But in all honesty, I think I will miss the atmosphere of PIA. This summer I have booked tickets to Karachi and unfortunately I will have to go from Etihad. PIA does not come to my city (Chicago) any more. I will miss the crying children, the greasy bryani, the overpriced souvenirs they sell you at the end of the flight, the pre flight dua, the boring instructional videos... I have not flown on any airlines in my life except emirates, Lufthansa, and Pia and i must say I will miss Pia.

Well I have been told that Ethihad is pretty nice. But I dont think I will be going on PIA any more. My dad got in touch with one of his friends which is a high ranking PIA official and he asked my dad to wait before booking because PIA was going to start operations in Chicago again starting from March 2010. We cancelled our Etihad ticket booking, but there was a small fee of $70 per ticket. Hopefully I will be able to fly on PIA.

Yes I am in the suburbs of Chicago. Enjoy your trip to Pakistan, and be sure to take a camcorder so you can record memorable moments. Time in Pakistan passes by very quickly. Since you have not been to Pakistan in 25 years, you probably do not have a idea of how Pakistan will be. Well let me assure you that it is much more modernized that you would expect or portrayed by Western Media.

There is snow balls chance in hell that PIA will resume its Chicago route anytime soon.
BTW if it were to resume by March2010, it would have already been announced by now, as these agreements take months to finalize and are generally announced few months ahead to market the new route.

@NinezeroPlayer To begin with, this is probably my mistake because I did not mention that March is not the set month. The set date for operation to start in Chicago again can be deviated by about 1 or 2 months. And the High ranking PIA official I was referring to, to be more specific is the U.S Managing Director for PIA airline's operations.

And regarding Etihad, I am sure that Pakistani custom will be a bit more strict. But it is better to fly with your own people, as you know PIA has arguably the BEST PILOTS IN THE WORLD. And even though PIA will obviously be a bit more expensive than Etihad, as I said before the atmosphere of PIA and the fact you are flying with your people is priceless.

If you can spare the few hundred extra, PIA is much better than the others I have taken- better than Emirates, Etihad, KLM or BA. Ask others and compare their experiences.

@Shammwow Not really man, PIA is average compared to Emirates/Etihad. PIA is killed by its unpreditability, you might have a good flight with a good crew or a terrible flight with a crap crew.

@dargay.I've taken the North American flights a few times and I can say I would prefer PIA hands down to either Emirates, Qatar or Etihad. The ticket agents try to tell you that PIA is booked or that the seats aren't available so we often get stuck going thru UAU or Qatar. I think the travel agents get a better commission from the Gulf airlines. Anyhow, I don't think that any of them lives up to the hype and the food on PIA is definitely better. Maybe you're right- I've had good experiences.

@nooruddin47 . I bet I have travelled a great deal more than you. In fact I prefer the service and food on PIA to KLM and Lufthansa too. Perhaps I am biased but I truly do love my own airlines more than any other carrier after having tried others. As for the Gulf airlines- be it Etihad, Emirates or Qatar, they are just as empty as the corrupt Gulf governments that created them. You'll see in time that these flash in the pan airlines will fizzle out. Cheers.

@Shammwow What's even more sad is the fact PIA in the 1980s help set up Emirates, Gulf, Royal Jordanian and Air Malta. Look at where the first two airlines are and look where PIA is now. Even Pakistan Railway helped set up rail facilities in Zimbabwe and other East African countries during the mid 1970s and all those countries still have a decent functioning railway whereas Pakistan....you know the story. Crooks have ruined Pakistan sadly.

@oichakdeyphatay . Have you seen Zimbabwe railways recently or any of the rail systems in East Africa - trust me you are still better off with Pakistan railways. As for PIA, you forget that despite everything, people still prefer PIA over Gulf and Emirates- at least everyone I know who lives abroad would take PIA over these other airlines.

@Shammwow I still fly PIA, but I'm just saying. The airline could have become a regional carrier or even bigger had not been for mismanagement. Emirates and Etihad, meh...they're good, but I'm not a big fan of transits and layovers. Plus, a lot of Pakistanis fly them simply because of the fact it's CHEAPER and they lie and say "oh the service is better that's why I fly it". LOL pathetic needless to say. PIA is still the way for me...

I recently travelled on Etihad and let me tell you the service wasn't all that great. I saved about $300 on Etihad Coral class over PIA but it wasn't worth it. PIA may be more expensive but it's beter than Etihad. Etihad food was poor and the service not that great. I was surprised since Etihad has been rated #1 in the world among airlines but I am sure they just bribed someone or it was a political decision. Sure their planes are new but compared to Etihad and Emirates, PIA is much better.

I love PIA. The staff are professional. Many of the pilots are former PAF pilots, so they are very experienced at flying and have the discipline.
I love the food on PIA as well. The only thing is the number of crying babies. And us Pakistanis have large families =D
