They both have Mount, side mount, kesa gatame/sit out, alot of the chokes and subs are the same, its just that BJJ goes far more in depth on the ground such as butterfly, closed, and x-guard and Judo goes far more in depth with takedowns. Judo and BJJ come from japanese jiu jitsu, my judo and bjj instructor both say that they are 2 halfs of the same art.

He cheated by repeatedly holding on to the ropes w/ his arms & hands & that's why he was able to stay up reverse the take-down. Otherwise, Lindland would have taken him down way bf that.

Sambo guys have nasty submissions that aren't even taught in BJJ. BJJ players are susceptible to foot and leg locks by catch wrestlers and samboists because they are not taught leg locks as indepth. Sambo has very similar ground work to bjj and judo has a lot of the bjj ground work so when you factor that he is a 4x world champ in sambo

Big Nog 2x, Crocop, Randleman, submitted Judo olympians on the ground, 4x world champion in sambo, 8x european and russian sambo champion, placed 3rd four times in international judo championships, he did all of this from 1997 to 2010. At the time of Pride the ufc hw division was a joke if anything Fedor would have been leaving better competition to face lesser competition.

Just as a side note, for those of you who are gonna say the ref isnt bias, which I know theres gonna be at least one of you, il give you 2 example. One is his unhealthy obsession with fedor leaning on the ropes (dont forget the ropes arn't solid so theres no benefit to leaning on them other than instrinct) and second, lindland hits Fedor with a right hand at 0:06, at 0:08 look at the refs face light up, it's like a kid at christmas when he see's fedor get cut. I am a Fedor fan but, sorry--If I was the ref and had to yell "stop grabbing the ropes, get off the ropes" that many times, I would have penalized Fedor. The ref yelled it like 9X & Fedor was holding the ropes even bf that but the ref didn't see it. He cheated by repeatedly holding on to the ropes w/ his arms & hands & that's why he was able to stay up reverse the take-down. Otherwise, Lindland would have taken him down way bf that.

według mnie, czyli początkującego w SW, Lindland nie potrafi się bronić w parterze, a tym bardziej uciekać z opresji typu dźwignia. Zauważyłem też pewną pasywność w parterze.
