  • Wow, this video just brought back alot of memories, I will always remember all the explosions there were this day, and the words coming from the 1-mc. What a scary day, Thank you to the BEST FLYING SQUAD in the U.S. Navy.

  • For all of you whom served, please email me your contact info. I have a large list of shipmates i have contacted or been contacted by in the past few years. easypick4u@gmail.com I was DC3 Fleming then. I started the whole reunion and spent several hundred dollars trying to track shipmates down. If you send me your contact info, i can share the list with you.

  • Hello brothers. I was DC1 Campbell back then. I was standing in the passageway with the fire hose teams when the first explosion hit us. I was blown down the passageway along with the #2 hose team. I remember Bo Bo Harris was standing on my right in the vestibule and the Electrician was on my left. Not a day goes by that I don't think about what happened to us on that awful day.

    Take care gentlemen....Campbell

  • i was HTFN killoran at the time of the fire. i was one of the first to respond after the explosion. there was about 5 or 6 of us down there and we managed to pull several of the bodies out of the hole before the 2nd explosion hit. it was really good to see some familiar faces in the video. had i known they were getting together i would have shown up.

  • I served on the Midway at the time of the fire. I was a part of G-3 forward bomb and was one of the men that fought the fire. We were in the Korean sea if I remember correctly.

  • I was on Midway when this happend, and I will never forget that day. I was part of the same repair locker on the forward mess decks as Buccuzzi and Chief Brock were during G.Q.s. A good friend of mine was part of the Flying Squad and he was injured pretty bad in the incident as well.

On August 23 2008, I went to the spaces where this took place. It was something I felt that I needed to do.
