Yes. The only way to get them from my experiences is by breaking the left and right shoulder. It is possible to get a ruby from the Felyne Elder Ashen Lao Shan, but not from the chief village one.

This is not the case I got one from both lower and upper body when carving and a heavenly scale to boot, but yeah breaking is best bet as carving is all about luck :)

Can also get from carves, can only get from Azure Lao Shan Lung's (Which means only the Felyne Elder, HR5 Lao, and HR8 Lao will give them.)

Thank you for your kind words, and im really greatful that the videos are enjoyable enough to watch. To unlock this version of Ashen Lao Shan, i believe you have to complete all of the HR7 and HR8 Marathon / epic quests.

Great minds think alike :-). I think this song was used in the first part of the final level, Mr. Freeze, though i do know that song that you are talking about, the one when you are riding on that elevator like platform. I will use that song in another MH video probably.

You would most likely get repel with that setup, even with the help of bombs. But it is a good setup, just probably not the one to kill though since this Lao Shan has an incredible amount of health.

Thanks :-). If your soloing, even with assistance with bombs, smolder would probably just repel. You would have to probably activate heroics to increase the chances. Probably best bet is to get a heavy bowgun with all 3 pierce level shots (Narga gun maybe) and a armor with the pierce lv up shot skill and then just activate heroics and go at it. But if you want a repel, its slim, but smolder may do the job, but a good hammer would do even better.

It would definitely help, especially if you have get sharpness+1 with purple sharpness. But this hr8 lao shan has something like 20,000 in health, so for melee users, it will be really really difficult to kill solo, so the best you could do is most like repel with any weapon made within the HR7-HR8 bracket, unless you use something like adrenaline +2 or heroics. But you can give it a shot and see.

I already have sharpness+1 thanks to the Akantor set... and I might be able to use Adrenaline. I don't know how to get heroics but eh. I probably wont be able to do that if I get hit by his foot or something that is automatic death, in G-Rank.

I believe you can get both, like lao scale+ or ashen lao horn. Unless its been changed in mhfu, then thats what'll happen.

Yes, RinsterRoo is correct. This is the HR8 version, which yields basically all of the same materials that you would get in the HR5 version of Azure Lao, and also the rare HR8 materials only that can be gotten from this quest.

It's possible with two longswords, but you would have to do an incredible amount of damage to get a kill, so you would each need to bring the maximum amount of bombs possible, and just deal as much damage as you can.

The HR8 version of Ashen Lao Shan Lung ( this quest ) is available when you complete all of the Marathon quests located in the HR7 and HR8 quest lists( the quests that require you to beat two or more monsters in the same quest) , and once you beat ashen lao shan, the hr9 versions of the elder dragons will become available.

Felyne Heroics requires your health to be below 10 % or below, which will increase out attack power x1.5, so we had to weaken ourselves to get the skill activated.
