  • Can You Guys Check out my Power Clean Video i dont wanna pay $50 for an hour session for a trainer to show me the form i figuer You Tuber can do that please and thanks

  • Pause at 36 sec. You would have more power if you fully engaged your knees, hips, and shoulders. Good job though. Checkout my power clean tutorial on my channel. Keep up the hard work.

  • Excellent tutorial and the athlete has great form. Great hip work to get the feet off the ground for the stance. Me, 3 month crossfit newb and learning how to do these kind of cleans, gotta do "mr. clean" for conditioning in the morning. Great vid..thanks for posting, appreciate it.

  • Strength endurance? What you and your friends together can lift one time, I lift for reps.

I bet no one you train with even pulls a sissy 500lb deadlift. I can pull that for 20 reps in 2 minutes. That's strength endurance.

Crossfit is for weaklings. You're all too afraid to train heavy. Train Sheiko 29. That's a beginners' program. I'd like to see a crossfag, who spends his time bouncing around doing jack shit, handle a Sheiko CMS Program LOL

I don't care what fake lifters think

  • No one is questioning that if you want to get strong, that you do what "biglogstrongman" is doing...and no one is claiming that you'll become the best navy seal or athlete if you only did crossfit. What crossfit is claiming is that if you are a "runner", and you did crossfit, you would not only get stronger, but you will build your endurance, and get faster. Now if you put an endurance runner on a strongman program for a couple months, yes, he will get stronger, but lose endurance & speed.

  • should use more weight....

  • Sage = Badass

  • that form was flawless man...awesome girl!!!

  • non muscular cute/hot chicks who can lift are hot

  • feet should go wider..... about the stance of a front squat. one thing these "crossfit" coaches are failing to teach is all the things to make it an explosive lift. she has no shrug and is driving her hips way to far forward causing her to jump back. that is a real bad habbit to form.

  • @gotens1102

This is the daughter of Mike Burgener. His son went to the Olympics after being taught by his father how to do the lifts. I think he knows what he is talking about. Also, how do you know what HER front squat stance is?

  • I notice after the jump some people's feet go quite wide, others stay about the same, I even seen some people go narrower. Does it matter, and is any foot position considered preferable? I notice this lifter goes a bit wider, and then adjusts.

  • @juandenz2008 it doesn't matter as long as you can get yourself under the bar and put it up on your shoulders.

  • She looks like she can kick my ass!

  • bet she gives some mental handjobs

  • She power cleans more than most guys I know. Looks like 135lb perfect clean form. Awesome.

  • A little concerned about how her back arches when she sets the bar back down. I'd be going down with the same posture as I came up (knees bent, back strait).

  • press 6 and 7 fast(:

  • Great form. But why don't the girls at my gym that look like her, lift with weights? Apparently I'm at the wrong gym.

  • I found the perfect power clean vid, search "pyrros dimas power clean".

  • i wish ONE OF YOU FUCKING IDIOTS WATCHING THIS VIDEO WOULD ANWSER MY FUCKING QUESTION

  • @BustersTexas I can't find your question. What is it?

  • she's hott!

  • Wow this absolutely impressive

  • what muscles does this work out?

  • @KrazyRMjumps the everything muscle

  • i can rack on my shoulders now, and roll back to my finger tips to protect my wrists, but how not to smash the bar into your collar bones?

  • wen the bar is like halfway up EXPLODE and push up =]

  • damn that girl is a tank

  • Nice video, hot

  • damn, i think i need to stretch out my wrists more before i start trying these... seriously, i just can't get my arms/wrists/hands in that postion

  • @bxsephjo DUDE U ARE SOOO RIGHT!!!!

I CANNOT GET MY ELBOWS TO POINT FOREWARD!!!..IT SEEMS ANATOMICALY IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME....

EVERY POWERCLEAN TUTORIAL VID I SEE...THEIR ELBOWS ARE POINTED FORWARD!!!

  • @KINGRODP you may have bad arm anthropometry, or you may need to consider a wider grip, or simply let go of the bar so only your fingers are touching it at the top

  • @Egendomlighet I appreciate it. I am really researching flexibility for my upper body...i am extremely flexibile in my lower body though.

But..I am doing shoulder dislocations (vid on youtube) and tricep stretches and stuff.

    I appreciate your suggestion though..take care :-)

  • @KINGRODP i had the same issue until i stretched out my lats...i used a foam roller...band stretches work in addition to foam roller.

  • @KINGRODP Part of perfecting this technique, is being able to use your momentum to get under the bar. You have to be able to shoot those elbows forward as quick as possible in order to utilize your momentum in the most efficient manner. It is not anatomically impossible to get your elbows pointing forward, but if you have a difficult time with it, A) Add more weight. The more weight you add will compensate for your "lack" of ability to point your elbows forward....(cont.)

  • @KINGRODP ...(cont). The added weight will naturally help your elbows get into that position. B) Grip the bar a little wider. The wider the grip, the easier it will be for your body to adjust by moving the elbows into the forward position as you receive the bar.

Trust me, it's never impossible to have your body in the proper position. Just keep practicing, and eventually you will get there. Good luck!

P.S. Videotape your lifts. It will help you see what you could be doing differently.

  • proof that not all crossfit coaches are retards...

  • ass looks a little low

  • @bangbongbong Her ass looks fine.

  • @tempac91 her thighs look nearly parallel to the ground and her shoulders look too far back.

  • @bangbongbong yes. this is because the barbell is too far away from the center of her feet. efficiency during the first pull is maximized if the barbell starts balanced over the mid-foot

  • @Egendomlighet Ah yep I see it, her shin angle is too steep on setup. Oh well lol.

  • she looks pisst

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • it's time to expand your gym.

  • not bad. i would like to see more hip extension though

  • what do you work with this exercise?

  • @MoribundFantasy probably easier to list the muscles you DON'T work. i don't think the tongue gets worked, for example, although that might be because i'm not doing it right

  • @MoribundFantasy EXPLOSIVE power.

  • Trains his daughter to become a bull - PSYCHODAAAAAD, PSYCHODAAAAAAAAD - DAAAAAAAAD.

  • she has bigger arms than me :(

    i hate feminism lol.

  • i only bench 165 but i power clean 205. i dont understand why i powerclean so much more than i bench

  • @mustangwrestling123 bench pretty much only requires strength. there is a certain form that you need so you dont get hurt, but in the end its just about whether or not your muscles can push up harder than the bar pushes down. powerclean requires more form. so even if you're not necessarily that strong, if you work on technique your powercleans will keep goin up

  • @igotgas64 i agree. i suck at cleaning! i can use heavy weights but i could do so much better if i could have better form. have been working at it though. that girl is perfect.

  • @mustangwrestling123 weaker chest maybe then your shoulders and legs, you know what your comment is like saying i squat 450 pounds but only bench 330, i dont understand. Did you think of that one

  • chicks who can lift are hottt... does this make me weird?

  • @ijuh22 not really. Chicks that lift have great bodies. :D

  • @ijuh22 yes it means your the non-dominant i.e feminine i.e a faggot

  • @ijuh22 yes you should consult you doctor immediately

  • Good clean! Reps!

  • Not only is she fine, she's like 20 years old and can lift more than most dudes.

  • isn't it better to have your hands closer to the middle of the bar so you rack it on your shoulders easier? At least thats what i like to do.

  • girls are naturally stronger in the legs, and core(for pushin babies) males in the upper body.

  • Man i Bench 230; and Clean 190

  • @zyerial bench 225 and pc 235 and im a soph in hs

  • @MrJDCLARK I'm only in the middle school

  • is that really 155? i know it aint much but shes throwin up like its nothin and she is a girl

  • @sr19 probably not. If you were to guide yourself by "crossfit colours", that will be a 20kgs (45 pounds) on each side. Plus girl's bars are 15 kgs (33 pounds), so she is probably lifting 55kgs (123 pounds), which still, she is pretty fast with it, so not bad, though not 155

  • I don't think it is possible to jump (lose contact with the ground) if the barbell is heavy enough for the one that lifts

  • @emosms it must be possible to jump with a heavy barbell, however briefly, judging by how many olympic weightlifters receive the weight in a difference stance (different feet width) than the one they started with

  • she can receive my fucking bar

    holy shit

  • thats what im taking about

  • will doing this give enough strength to fuck up people?

  • I knew this was a Crossfit video as soon as I saw that it was a woman using a barbell.

  • @firdaus125 why does every power clean video have someone saying "this is Crossfit"? coaches have used the power clean for decades. if someone publishes a new program that includes the power clean, it doesn't mean that all the exercises included in the program are new.

again, the power clean is a classic lift that athletes have trained for several decades.

  • @DrJuice1 AMEN Crossfit is not Olympic Weightlifting. Weightlifters are strong

  • @biglogstrongman ...But weightlifters lack endurance. I'm not even sure that I'd agree that weightlifters are even that much stronger on average. My personal experience is that Crossfit has made me much better at Olympic lifts than strict lifting ever did.

  • @wetwilly0 You have no fucking idea what real strength and strength endurance is

I've deadlifted a meager 515lbX16 reps in a row. That's shit in the strength world, but has any crossfit champion ever done that? Endurance for what? Half ass training?

Stick to snatching a broomstick for 5 min and talking about your fran

I will be in my garage doing Max daily Clean and Jerks, Squats, and Pulls. That's why guys like me can flip 800lb tires for twenty reps and call it cardio

    GET STRONG

  • @biglogstrongman crossfit is practical. crossfit gyms are swarming with navy SEALs

  • @vtmike13 Yeah do crossfit and you're a Navy Seal. You guys have something in common right? You could be a Navy Seal because you snatch a broomstick for 5 minutes? OH MAN. Real strength training will never be popular because it's hard. Strength rules

  • @biglogstrongman big guys like you come in and they're sprawled out on the floor in no time. besides, you can do crossfit with the same weight you do now. it's not like you decrease it for crossfit. you do as much as you can. and not all workouts even have weights bro.

  • str training = quality, crossfit training = quantity

  • @tombo4444 you all act like crossfit means lift little weight a bunch of times. some workouts may be like that, others are not. some workouts you lift maybe 9 reps the entire workout, but i did one WOD that included 75 deadlifts. obviously for that workout you can't do a whole lot of weight.

  • @biglogstrongman wow. you really have something against crossfit, huh? is it really that evil that you have to troll the comments? as far as i know, no one(except you) has claimed that you'll become a navy seal if you do crossfit. And what is this argument about popularity? I don't understand why you say "strength rules" for. Are you suggesting that crossfitters are against strength or that building strength is more important than muscular or cardiovascular endurance?

  • Comment removed

  • @tzaunie You proved my point. You don't train. If you did, and I mean train for strength, you'd realize that's how to build REAL strength endurance. Go have fun pretending to do the Olympic lifts with a broomstick. I'll stick power cleaning 140kg for 20 sets of 2. You guys can go do your "woman pull ups" or kipping. I will bang out 500 real pull ups, each week, weighing 270lb. Then I'll go flip my 800lb tire for sets of 20

Crossfit is for wannabe strength athletes

  • @biglogstrongman i proved your point? really? which is? that crossfitt is a focused strength training? anyone who has done crossfit knows this is not what crossfit is. no one has claimed it. so who, may i ask, are you arguing with? Please enlighten me. What do you mean by "strength endurance"?

  • @biglogstrongman I'm proud of you for accomplishing your strong man lifts. But you fascinate me because you don't even try to least intelligently engage the points I make, but continue rather to point out what crossfit is not.. Woop dee dooo! anyone surprised that you can build more strength focusing on strongman lifts than doing crossfit? Nope. Crossfit's merit lies in it's effectiveness of increasing strength without sacrificing but even improving speed, endurance and stamina.

  • @tzaunie No it doesn't. None of you are strong. None of you are fast either because speed comes from force. Develop more strength, you apply more force. Doing something half ass for 5 minutes is useless for power, speed, and strength. I will say it one more time. Crossfit is for wannabe athletes

The Olympic sprinters who train with me at my club laugh at crossfit. So do all the CFL football players.

Crossfit is for suburban fitness geeks. No more posts from me on that bullshit

  • @biglogstrongman :) OK. Thanks for stating the obvious. "speed comes from force." Please at least try to show some intelligence. It's nice that you surround yourself with like-minded people who will massage your ego. You don't learn much, but at least your narrow perception and ego remain intact. No more for posts from you, huh? Sorry to hear that. You almost learned something.

  • @tzaunie You aren't learning any of this from a text book. Guys like you will never understand this.

  • @biglogstrongman Ata boy! I knew you'd come back...unfortunately with something not unexpected.

  • @biglogstrongman I'd be pissed at crossfitters too, you're so strong. And while they're working out with their shirts off surrounded by super hot chicks, you're alone in your basement pumping out heavy squats with your gut out.

  • @3KieseJo funniest comment ever!!!

  • @biglogstrongman you sound like a fucking knob jockey dude. Not only that your a fat cunt, noone cares about being the strongest, all people care about when they goto the gym is trimming fat and looking fit as fuck, You sir probably have a diet of Mcdonalds, just look how fucking fat you are in your videos - you probably use steroids as well you fucking shitdick, go play with your little cock while you strength train, MMA guys could woop your ass, so where does that leave your strength trainin

  • Comment removed

  • @jonahisbreakdancing Thank you, uneducated child

I wrestled at 1 of the 3 best wrestling U's in this country. My team members went to worlds. Francis Clayton was my coach. MMA? Another idiot quoting MMA? Alright, my team mate was on the Ultimate Fighter tv show. Figure it out genius.

I don't eat Mcdonalds or use steroids. I do however train much harder than internet heros. I have much more strength, endurance, success than arm chair "experts" like yourself.

    Enjoy mediocrity jackass

  • @biglogstrongman Strongman, in the world of fitness there is no single solution. Some powerlift, some bodybuild, some P90x, and some Crossfit. I don't know why powerlifters seem to hate on CrossFit so much. I have a great deal of respect for power lifters but can assure you that it is not my goal to look like you.

  • @chitwood

People wouldn't hate Crossfit so much if it wasn't marketed for everything and everyone. It's so loosely defined that the definition changes according to argument at hand.

Good thing the Crossfit Games -event gives us a solution. Crossfit is a system that prepares you for Crossfit Games; if people don't feel that they need the ability to be good at Crossfit Games or that being good at Crossfit Games doesn't give the benefit they're after, Crossfit isn't for them.

  • @chitwood Like who? I hope you aren't talking about Superheavy weight lifters

Ever look at EVERY lifter at 105kg or below? You and the rest of the crossfit/p90X dorks wish you could look like that.

I'm on my way down to 105kg from 140kg!!!! I started at 75kg 12 years ago.

Fitness? LOL I'm always up for a good laugh. Thanks

  • @biglogstrongman Do you even have any idea who Mike Burgener is? Or are you just using this as a platform to tell everyone how much stronger you are than people way smaller than you.

  • @Christiantodd1 Owner of Mike's Gym, coached Casey B, and Donny Shankle.

First and foremost, an Olympic Weightlifting coach. All the rest is for paying the bills!!!!

  • @biglogstrongman Ok Susan, so you know who Burgener is, and you know what olympic style weightlifting is. Now please show us a video of you trying to do a snatch or a power snatch with some heavy weight. The majority of your videos are squats.

  • @Christiantodd1 I don't train them anymore BUT I used to do doubles with 140kg like peanuts pussy. You don't have a single video.

  • @firdaus125 Barbells make women hotter.

  • @firdaus125 yeah, fanatics are everywhere.

  • why does she stomp?..

  • she isn't stomping.. its just getting an explosive lift making her jump.. it's what your suppost to do to get a good clean.

  • @AlexCrawdad123

can't you get an explosive lift without hopping though? ha

  • yea, but adding a jump can create a more explosive lift

  • @AlexCrawdad123 alright sweet thanks man

  • @corryallday4673 thats the jump from the power part of the clean. The wooden sole shoes add to the noise too

  • :36 -:37

i never practiced that technique. i'm gonna start now

  • fap fap

  • you get none do you

  • hahahahaha

  • You're supposed to start from the ground, that's the definition of a clean.

  • It's just a light deadlift from the ground to the hang clean position. The deadlift is a popular lift used in all powerlifting competitions.

  • Obviously not but a power clean done with proper form will not lead to disability. It seems Mark Rippetoe is at odds with your assertions and he's trained plenty of athletes from nothing to something. He's one of the biggest proponents of powercleans for developing explosive strength.

I don't understand why you think a powerclean will cause injuries on the field if the exercise are done with proper technique?

  • Coach Rippetoe's standard starting strength routine has taken many beginners to a great foundation of strength. His whole career is built on those high school students that can't do somersaults.

The program is centered around 3 compound lifts: squat, deadlift, and bench with chinups, dips and power cleans. So I don't see where you're getting this isolation business from.

While the snatch grip deadlift is a useful exercise, the basic deadlift is the simplest style to learn.

  • One note, rippetoe teaches from a power lifting background and that's my background as well. Obviously olympic weight lifting requires different styles of training.

From the floor powercleans are a major part of all varsity training programs at my university and that style of training hasn't lead to any disabilities, but very strong football players. I don't understand how one can get injured from this style of powerclean if done properly?

  • @SadegoGG i guess you didn't realize the girl in the video is sage burgener, one of the top female weightlifters in the country.

  • @eamonob84

Then why is she struggling with 135 pounds? That doesn't change the fact she is using more weight than necessary for recreational workouts. The fact of the matter is people injure themselves when they use too much weight.

  • @SadegoGG people injure themselves with bad form and bad training, excessive weight is relative and simply means you don't have sufficient training for that weight.

  • @radpinomg

For most people there is no point in even using those excessive weights. Unless you want to be a power lifter or body builder there really is no point. You can become built and perform much safer training routines that have more application in real life.

  • @SadegoGG You're on the wrong side of the argument with eamonob84 and radpinomg. "Excessive weight" is a relative term determined by the ability of the lifter. 200-300 lbs. is very heavy for a lot of people, but I've seen people in my gym throw around 300 lbs. for an easy warmup on the bench press. How do you determine what weight is too much for a "recreational" workout?

Also, what are these "safe" training routines that have more real life application you're talking about? I'd like to know

  • @SadegoGG Your ignorance is showing when you say there is no point unless you want to be a powerlifter or bodybuilder. The power clean is a variation of the squat clean, which is an Olympic lift. Sage Burgener is an Olympic weightlifter, that is her sport. Also, she isn't struggling with 135 pounds. She is using that weight for a demonstration. Plus, 135 lbs. isn't anything to sneeze at for a female of her size.

  • @SadegoGG Any weight that makes an individual's form break down is too heavy, whether 135 pounds or 400 pounds. Now, the heavier the weight is, the worse the injury can be if correct form is not maintained, but that doesn't mean a certain weight is "too much for recreational use". Only in the most extreme circumstances, such as a powerlifter squatting 900 pounds, would I say certain weight is dangerous; some powerlifters have fractured vertebrae from weight that heavy.

  • @SadegoGG Most injuries are not serious and are to be expected due to the stress of lifting. More serious injuries occur when form is not correct or are the result of freak accidents. Training can cause injuries too. If you max out every single workout, then for most people your chance of injury is higher because you're pushing your limit. Working with a weight that you do for 15 reps isn't the solution though, as that many reps will cause fatigue and make form harder to maintain.

  • @darkknight9174

When did I even suggest I endorse high reps? If anything, high reps leads to postural breakdown as one gets tired (As you pointed out). Moreover, maximal strength development causes muscular imbalances. Think about how many people have back pain from either using too much weight or performing lifts incorrectly. This typically happens in people who lift with too much weight and/or lift in too many reps to maintain good posture.

  • @SadegoGG You kept on about how any weight that was "heavy" was excessive for "recreational exercise" (which doesn't make sense as Sage is a competitor in a sport) was bad, so I just threw out a comment about doing exercises with lighter ("safer" weight). It seems as if you're agreeing and disagreeing with me in the same sentence."Think... have back pain.. from using too much weight..." I can't think of any because we've already established that the underlying issue to injuries...

  • @SadegoGG ... is the breakdown of form. Working at very high percentage of 1RM can break down form (in fact it will slbe less than perfect if you're doing a true 1RM and that is perfectly acceptable as long as it hasn't gone to hell) and using a light weight at many reps can break down form. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say for most people ("recreational") there is less potential for greater injury if they use moderate weight because their form is likely to not be very good...

  • @SadegoGG True as that may be, even a "recreational" lifter needs to have developed good form, regardless of what their goals are. As we've already pointed out many times, form breakdown is where injuries occur (preventable injuries, people will get tweaks, etc. as a normal part of exercise". The only circumstance where I would discourage someone from training with relatively heavy weights (assuming their form is fine) is if they have blood pressure issues. Lifting can reduce blood pressure...

  • @darkknight9174

Do you have any idea how many people have bad backs? For the most part its because of strenuous heavy lifting. Whether you are lifting low weights at high repetition or heavy weights at low repetition its just about impossible to keep good form. Do you know how movement is produced? Do you even know what movement is beyond a definition provided by a dictionary? I'm not saying people should never use heavy weights, its just all some people do is heavy weights.

  • @SadegoGG How do you think someone gets a bad back? I suppose anything is possible, but I don't think the prime cause of a "bad back" is heavy lifting. Heavy lifting with poor form will injure a disc or vertebra, but heavy weight by itself doesn't do that. I'd say in many cases heavy lifting with good form would actually make people's backs *better* since the muscles in the back can better support the spine.

    ...

  • @darkknight9174 *better support the spine when they're stronger.

  • @SadegoGG Form is about impossible to hold? That's horseshit. Unless you're doing 1,2,3 RMs form can be held just fine. Anyone with actual experience would know that. Even at those weights form doesn't completely break down.

And please don't talk to me about knowing what form is. I suppose in a rare case I could be wrong, but I'd wager I've got quite a bit more heavy lifting experience than you so I'd recommend not arguing about stuff you know little about.

  • @SadegoGG It sounds like that is exactly what you're saying, that "recreational" lifters don't need to lift weight that is too heavy. And as it has already been pointed out, lifting heavy too often is a training issue. If you're doing limit singles every workout it's easy to overstress your connective tissues and residual fatigue can lead to form breakdown. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you anymore as you'd rather keep talking nonsense.

  • @darkknight9174

My argument is when people do focus lifts they would probably be best off using 45-60% of their 1 repetition maximum and to focus on maximizing force production. Coupled with working out in relatively low reps (ex: less than 5-6) they would have a solid foundation that would translate positively to overall health, athletics, and safety. There are times, when especially athletes, can carefully use more weight...but this typically isn't the focus of a workout routine.

  • @darkknight9174

Also, I'm still waiting to see your definition of efficient movement, that explains application rather than just copy/pasting a dictionary definition. I hardly doubt you have any understanding of what movement is or how movement is developed. It seems like you agree with me that lifting too heavy leads to increased probability of injury and that large reps are bad in the same respect, but you still try to make it seem like I'm wrong?

  • @darkknight9174 Shut up you stupid fat powerlifter.

  • sdsd

  • i dont quiet understand the jump.could that be explained to me by somebody.whats the point of it.? thanks.

  • See how she jumps underneath the bar? the jump is where you get yourself underneath it as you flip your arms.

  • The movement of the bar comes from the explosive jump. If there was no jump, the bar wouldn't move.

  • I like you setup for you gym..just move a few thing and it would be ever better..why so many plates next the the power rack/smith macine

  • this is pretty tough for me right now..trying to get it down for rippetoes before I go back to the gym

  • advise is great

haha for all y'all creepers i bet she could kick your assess

  • girls are weak

  • very explosive i see nothing wrong with her form

  • What is with all the commenters on this blog? Can't you say what you want to say without all the profanity? Also, I didn't realize that I was going to a porno chat site where we are talking about chicks that are hot as f**k. Have some manners gym rats!

  • that;s hot sjktss, dress up as a girl and let me pound that tight ass and toss your salad

  • is that a portable step up platform I spot?

  • that gym is fucking sexy never mind anything else...oh man thats the closest thing ever to my dream gym...hardcore and filled with so much usueful shit (Y)

  • do u have to do the littel jump she does on power cleans?or isit ok to not do that?i actually havent noticed if i do the littel jump il see 2moro lol

  • You aren't supposed to jump up in the air, you are supposed to explosively triple extend (ankles, knees, hips) which moves the barbell up (while arms are straight). You will come up on your toes and maybe in the air a bit, then drop down into the bottom catch position, but don't think of trying to jump up off the platform a lot and dont' kick your feet out. Some lifters barely make any noise at all because their feet barely leave the platform.

  • really? because people do it every day.
