good lord! none of our japanese teachers ever did that to us. they told us though that after the first couple of days class would resume in japanese only. so this is awkward to me. and honestly. this is saddening. unless this is something like my sisters expierence at her school in japan, this just doesnt happen on a first day in jpn 101. -_-;;;;
@moyerman2000 a great way to learn to draw (and i can promise you its better than any how to draw manga book) is taking real life classes or drawing photos. it may sound boring, but trust me. its the best way to improve.
@KKph33rKK You're getting bogged down in literal translation, when in fact the best translations are those based on the situation in which the words are being spoken. You yourself acknowledge that よろしくお願いします has no definite meaning. We are in total agreement with you there. Which is why it is entirely natural — and correct, in this situation — to translate the phrase to mean "I look forward to teaching you."
@iid0rks Not exactly. See... "Watashi wa o namae wa *your name* desu. Anata wa?" Is extremely polite: It means My name is *name*. What about you? (Anata usually refers to YOU) Desu is an ending of sentence pronounciation; you don't NEED to say it. If you don't want to be so formal, say: "Watashi wa *name* desu~!" Or "*name* desu~" Or "Watashi wa *name*! " Basically, those are the basics of introducing yourself.
@KKph33rKK On this point, you are correct. And it's great that you recognize these subtleties. Our goal here, however, is to introduce students to simple, common spoken Japanese phrases that can be used among family and friends. Hence, "Japanese 101."
they got great site helped me a bit, tho doesn't have everything i need. like i been making my own comic tho i wanna make it look even better. i do side view and my pictures are usually facing the right so i draw left to right and on the site i noticed the examples are showing the right to left. i need more help with like drawing the legs and shoes/feet, cuz i suck at drawing shoes/feet.

I understand Japanese thanks to watching years of Anime!! I can speak some that I learn from the anime, but if talking to a japanese person I'll failed! Can't read Japanese though, only some because I'm Chinese. Guess being Asian makes it easier for me to learn.
wow i understood everything the teacher said. i closed my eyes to see if i could understand her and i could!!!! yay!!!! and i kinda already understand japanese but only like what they want to know if they r talking to me. i actually learned it from anime. and when i read manga i actually sometimes use japanese words instead of english when reading it. hehe......kinda addicted to the language. its fun to say..
Watch Anime? Read Manga? Be a ninja? Do something you've already been doing? How about just have a decent Japanese conversation with a Japanese person about how you'd love to go to a traditional Japanese festival and see their temples? No, you're right, that's too boring.
