  • jesus, that is a huge station.

  • Man that light bar has a lame flash pattern!

  • The LEDs don't show up well in a video, or strobes for that matter. It's better in person...

  • o ok thanks

  • is Aid 82 like an ambulance or does it do something different because i heard aid 82 and then medics goin to calls

  • the aid units in the sfd provide basic life support. the medics provide advanced life support.

  • Aid 82 isn't sent very much to calls is it?

  • No, not many. It's usually not staffed ... only during busy periods such as bad weather conditions, or if there's a surplus of on-duty staff.

  • Is Aid 87 the same?

  • Yes, all the 80 series units are only staffed part time. When A82 is staffed, it's pretty busy ... dispatch usually alternates its runs w/ A2. During the bad weather period around Christmas '08, both companies were very busy. I have an A82 dispatch and response, but haven't posted it.

  • Cool! Is there anyway you could post it? Does it look like a regular aid unit?

  • Yes, it looks just like the other Aid and Medic units (Ford E-450s). I may post it, although the response time was a little slow for some reason ... I usually only post speedy responses :)

  • Also what is PTRL14 & R4?

  • Rescue 1 is a three axle Heavy Rescue based at Stn 14. R1 and L7 travel together and share the same 4 person staff. R1 specializes in various forms of rescue work such as extraction of trapped vehicle occupants, high angle rope rescues, etc.

  • cool! thanks

  • What does Air 9 do?

  • Air 9 is a one person company based at Stn 9 that makes sure that SCUBA bottles are filled at stations and at fires. They are dispatched on Full Responses.

  • do the people that run the Battalion, Staff 10, Safety 2 & Deputy Units stay at the station? i think it would be pretty boring, due to how many calls they get.

  • They actually stay pretty busy doing supervisory work, attending meetings, participating in drills, and doing administrative work (the DC and BCs). The Safety Battalion keeps busy doing safety inspections and administrative work. Most of the time these companies are in quarters unless they're doing one of the things described above, or if they're on a call. BTW, D1 is quartered in the old Stn 10, which is still the SFD HQ.

  • oh, ok...

  • Also thanks for the info of the stations!!!

  • great videos!!

  • Thanks very much! I'm glad you like them.
