  • Imagine if Hovie Lister was at the piano?? This would get even older... But it would be greater *---*

  • How wonderful!! Just beautiful music! If Jesus tarries for me to be of any great age, as these wonderful brothers in the Lord, I want to still be singing God's Praises! God bless them all, in Jesus name!!

  • May god bless them all

  • They sing my tears out.

  • What's the title of this hymn???

  • @nettoclarinet the song is I'm Telling The World About His Love (y)

  • Wer schon Morgens dreimal schmunzelt, des Mittags nicht die Stirme runzelt und abends singt, dass es laut schallt, wird hundertzwanzig Jahre alt.

  • God bless them, and I most definitely enjoyed the Shape Note Signing....brings memories of long ago, in a little country church. Summer singing schools, in which we learned shape notes! Craigs Chapel, Meadow Creek KY....Praise God! i am blessed!

  • Wirklich Klasse...singen hält jung^^

  • @VocalimTal Genau! Sie haben recht!

  • This is on part of a gaither video I've never seen before.

  • I wish he had lived to 100. What a joy it is to hear Mr. Arnold at 92!

  • This is called "Southern Gospel" music nowadays... Is that what you meant? Singing the shaped notes- do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do-is called "solfeggio" or "solfege" (pronounced sol-fezh, long o sound)

  • What is the name of this music??

  • You can't get singing like this anywhere else. This is the way I remember the singing at the conventions in Wimauma Fl. Church of God, Cleveland Tenn, church.

They had some of the best singing in the world from the small churches and the traveling gospel groups. It didn't get any better singing and praising God all night long.

  • Love when they "sing the shaped notes". Man, that's good stuff. Brings back memories of my Grandfather doing it.

  • A real great video and a great Quartet. Thanks for sharing.

  • This tenor is 93 year young

  • Great Gospel music video...93 years old and still singing.

  • Labour, do you mean Hovie Lister? He was from the Statesmen and later Master's Five

  • Labour, do you mean Hovie Lister?

  • Who is the elderly Gentleman in the Dark glasses?? Know his face but forgotten his name.

  • Please, anybody can say what is the name of this music? Thanks!!!

  • i love this song

  • I'm not a fan of this kind of music but I've got to admit, this was quite a performance! I hope to live to sing in the year 2072 like these guys! Thanks for this upload.

  • I really like this video. But i have a ?. And it is about the lady in the purple dress that is shown 2 time, first at 2:05 and 4:15. Is this the lady from the HEE HAW TV show.

If not she sure does look alot like the 1 from HEE HAW.

  • @MHFtractor Yes, that's Lulu Roman

  • I'm so blessed every time I view this video . Praise God for raising up people like them.

  • It don't get any better than that. :)

  • Thrills my soul to listen to such great music!

  • Respect for Robert!

  • heidiadeeb@yahoo.com

  • wats the name of the song

  • i love watching this video for almost 2moths now.... recently my 12 year kid was learning guitar and we are interested to have a copy of this song.... unfortunately, i cannot copy (and paste right away, to save time encoding), the one i've surf in the internet...... can anybody help me get the lyrics by just "copy and paste"???? thx alot... God bless

  • i can only hope my voice is that good when im 93

  • wow :) love it

  • I notice Mr. Arnold is the only one not wearing glasses!

  • Hey eddiegrm, I noticed that too. Maybe it's because at his age, he has already seen everything he cares to see. lol Just kidding. It is rather remarkable. God bless you!

  • Wow! These old guys are good! I couldn't help but notice all of the beautiful ladies sitting there. Not one of them is showing their breasts or thighs, yet they are all beautiful! Which proves true beauty works from the inside out. There's a huge difference between class and trash! A lot of women could take a lesson from these ladies. If you want to be beautiful, start by giving your life to Jesus, and it won't be long until your inward beauty will begin to show on the outside.

  • Amazing! This made me cry! Thanks for sharing!

  • That was nice. Well done gentlemen....

  • 93 years old but still has the sweetest tenor voice. i bet he was the no# 1tenor during his prime. bravo , amazing.

  • I grew up singing with my family at the old gospel singing conventions. Who is the pianist in this video? Stan Whitmire was probably in elementary school when I knew him from the singings. I know he plays for Gaither, but I'm not sure if I would recognize him now! Connor Hall was regularly at our singings & we even sang with him some! I did not learn the shaped notes, but the lines and spaces, but I picked up some just from hearing it so much. We were the Stansell Trio. Love this!

  • Que maravilla, no hay edad limite para cantar, y mas aun cuando el corazon esta joven, Gloria a Dios por la musica que levanta el espiritu.

  • 93 añitos canta como un angel!!!

  • one of the most beautiful things ive ever heared

  • Rex Nelon

  • Hey who sang bass in this qtrt? Can anyone tell what song it is they sang? Best song I ever heard...what a blessing! what a glory! heaven is surely a glorious place!

  • Rex Nelon

  • Tnx Trumpetguy & Irashsh....I actually dont know of any one that sang bass as he does

  • the song is i am telling the world about his love

abd the bass singer is rex nelon

  • Tnx Singer50...they sure were telling the world and we ought to be doing just that with every spiritual gift the Lord has blessed us with

  • Don't you just know Jesus is smiling!

  • oh wow

  • All the older great basses are deceased...Ben Speer is the only survivor in this quartet. So many of the people in the background shots are gone...Hovie, Goodmans, Brock Speer, JD, James Blackwood, Glen Payne, George Younce, and some others!

  • Tim Riley at 0:33 =D

  • GodsFavoriteBassPlyr YOU SAID "RIP". IS GEORGE DEAD? OR WHO ARE YOU REFERRING TO? I AM NOT IN AMERICA THOUGH

  • I like the way they are able to read notes.

Old but they strong in Christ.

  • I think JD was more of an Entertainer, but he could definitely 'make the notes'.

Rex was definitely one of the Class Acts of gospel though.

None of them come close to George though - RIP, all of them!

  • Yes he does. It's much more impressive of a voice that that of JD if you ask me. I never understood how JD's scratchy voice attracted people.

  • This is tooooo good ....

  • This is a AWESOME Song and I Love it!

It's worth listening to over and over.

The lyrics are 100% True and they brought it together in a Wonderful Way by Gods Grace.:)

    God Bless all involved. :)

  • WOW! not a single sour sour note among them . . . must have been all those years of practice . . . that and the Spirit of JOY in the Lord!

  • who is the pianist here pls

  • The pianist is Stan Whitmire...one of the best around!

  • Comment removed

  • gifted

  • Amazing!, incredible!. It sounds as if they were all in their mid thirties!!!.

  • Made me cry tears of joy, 93 years of singing praise to God with the voice of an angel...........praise The Master.

  • @vibrasonic99 if god bless

  • Amen and Amen .... HALELUYA ... Praise the LORD....

  • Nothing like having a GOD given talent.

Most singers now days don't have that.

  • Did anyone notice LouLou from HeeHaw?

    4:14

  • What is awesome about this is having the group sing the shape-notes. So few people can do that anymore.

  • no kidding you should see on swing down chariot on the Gaither Vocal Band and Ernie Haase and Signature sound Together. At the end of the song they go note by note down the scale

  • my group can

  • very nice music!!! Does anyone know the name of the bassinger?

  • Rex Nelon

  • Is that Rex Nelon? Looks different.

  • It is my friend. I have one of his tribute videos by Bill. That's him all right

  • u can say tht again god bless them guys

  • Praise to our Lord God Almighty! Hallelujah!!

  • Hallelujah!

  • Now friends, THAT is impressive. GOD BLESS ALL OF THEM.

  • Such beautiful memories of my Great Great Uncle Robert Arnold "Wawa" as the family called him.

I remember the beautiful singing as a child with him & Aunt Coco at their farm house in Coleman, TX so vividly.

He taught me scale on the piano when I was a child & even taught me how to milk his cows which he loved so dearly :)

He is a sweet sweet man & this video brought tears to my eyes.

Excellent singer, but an even greater man I'll remember always as an icon of my childhood! - L. Britton Hall

  • Robert S. Arnold is my great uncle. He is the cousin of Eddie Arnold. He has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. I am very proud and honored to have been blessed with knowing Uncle Robert and Aunt Cora. I will always remember how gracious Uncle Robert was. He tuned pianos by ear. We sang gospel songs at the piano while Uncle Robert played. He had an amazing vocal range. God blessed him richly. I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven Fare; no tears up there.

    Randal

  • When did he pass?

  • Sorry, I just now saw your question from 7 months ago. Duh! My bad. Uncle Robert passed away on "February 8, 2003". This recording of the Oldest Living Quartet is the last known recording made of Uncle Robert singing. I went to Uncle Robert's funeral and he had recorded his own voice singing his favorite hymns. He requested that they be played at his funeral and they were. It was an awesome experience to hear him singing at his own funeral. It brought back so many good memories of him.

  • What was the name of 'Uncle Robert '?. I'd like to see either some video or photos about his funeral, specially when his recording was being listened to, please, give me some links about it. God bless you so much.

  • Uncle Robert's name was "Robert Arnold". I think it was Robert S. Arnold. I do not know of any videos or photos about his funeral. God bless.
