  • Are you KIDDING me? ><

  • The game is out, it was released a few days ago.

  • And to think Activision was the victim of Atari in a similar case (but Activision won) back when Activision just started out...

  • "Like a Phoenix Rising out of the Ashes, The Silver Lining is Back Again": From their Official Website. It appears that TSL has won the battle. They have episode 1 and 2 available for download. tsl-game. c o m

  • Fuck Activision.

How can you kill off the King's Quest Series, when it revolutionized gameplay.

  • Doesn't Activision realize that if they allow this fan made game to be released, it would have a positive impact on the Kings Quest collection sales? Sheesh. I wonder about these corporate types and their ability for cognitive thinking.

  • The Silver Lining is a fitting title given that this game came out. Every cloud has it's silver lining that we all thought this project was finished and came out.

  • this made me hate activison even more:/

  • ITS BACK!!!! just type in The silver lining in google and it shall come up so now no need to worry the silver lining is making episodes and all ready made episode 1 and making episode 2 so enjoy

p.s. the way to download it is to make an account with silver lining then download it and I hope you enjoy it

  • Activision has some great game programmers and designers. Their top board director members, and the shitz.

  • The music is amazing on The Silver Lining~ Good work Austin on the music!

  • Activision sucks so much.

  • @100056712 What does roberta williams have to do with this? Activision bought the Kings Quest franchise, and Phoenix Online is an independent company that is making a fan-sequel.

  • @natlinxz He (1000....) is claiming that P.O.S. is the studio that is scamming people through donations and blaming the IP Holder Vivendi Universal to divert attention. --- I would disagree considering they're in fact releasing it (bringing fruit to the donations that have been given).

  • @natlinxz: You are sooooooooo correct. :) When the cease and desist was ordered, several of the fans (myself included) tried to get ahold of Ken and Roberta Williams to see what they could do. One of the leaders of the Save TSL movement actually got through to Ken and he wrote back saying that there wasn't much they could do but sign the petition. They don't have any rights to the game at all anymore. Sad, but true.

  • @Haids1987

Nope, the rights are owned by his old company Sierra Online. Which got bought by Vivendi back in the late 1998.

Vivendi then merged with Activision back in 2009.

The Sierra of old is a long dead company, just like Atari. It's just with games like Half Life they like to use the Sierra name ever once in a while (and yes I am aware Valve does Half Life)

  • @snake2006: What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about the rights being owned by one company or another, I was just commenting that Phoenix Online Studios doesn't accept donations. In fact, I believe it's illegal for them to take donations. I know the whole "Activision-Blizzard" story, I was the fourth person to sign the Save TSL petition. :-/

  • @Haids1987

I am talking about Roberta and Ken Williams stepping in to help when they got that cease and desist order. There is nothing Ken or Roberta could do since they don't own the rights to the games.

  • @snake2006 That's because they still publish games under the Sierra label, but the company itself no longer exists. For example, Interscope owns an entire slew of record labels, but they wouldn't release Marilyn Manson on the same label as they would Britney Spears...that's why every now and again Acitivision decides to throw the Sierra label on something, because it's recognizable to fans of that genre.

  • @100056712: Actually, POS doesn't ask for donations and their entire team works for free, on their own time. If you actually checked out the TSL website, you'd see that nowhere on it is there a single link that says anything about donating to them. Do your research before making uneducated comments.

  • @100056712

They're not even accepting donations at all.

  • @100056712

They're not accepting donations, they're doing it all completely for free.

  • @100056712 maybe you should be locked away due to criminal ignorance.

  • @100056712

Yeah... the site doesn't take donations. You are a lying buffoon.

  • i just read that activision pulled there cease and the games being released on july 10th!

  • @dionstap: Yep! We're all super excited. Check out the site, tsl-game.com. Join the forum and support the team!

  • @Haids1987 yes i found the page and cant wait for the 10th!! thanx!

  • How come the King's Quest 1, 2 & 3 remakes are still allowed? But not a fan sequel?

  • such a shame :C

I was coloring some backgrounds for this game (it was so long ago) and when I decided to check how it's going now, after these years, I found this news :C

    just sad...

  • Gamers everywhere: speak with your money.

  • Definitely one of the cruelest and underhanded things any corporate entity could have done. Activision, shame on you.

  • I hate Activision for this. and especially EA for stopping all those system shock fan based remakes and inspired games!

    Bloody suits!

  • very interesting

  • Real shame about the game. Nice work on the video natlinxz.
