I think I have a poltergeist in my house. The other night I started the dishwasher, and about an hour later, I noticed it had shut itself off, all on it's own, and when I opened it up, the dishes were all clean! Scary stuff.

i think janets testimony is a crazy attempt to explain what was really going on but was edited so much . i bet you she tried to explain how she did play in cooperation with some force but it sounded too wacko to put the entire testimony on here as they always have to leave a 'you decide' feeling to these documentaries

Bill was using Janet's false vocal fold, what you use when you lose your voice, to produce the voice. So it was coming from Janet. But most people can't keep it up for more than a few minutes because of the pain- Bill would speak for hours at a time through Janet. She had two mics put on her- one at her throat and one at her neck- the one at the neck was producing louder sound. The voice would be challenged to do things- for example, it once put a heavy cushion onto a roof, from a closed room.
The book "This House is Haunted" by Guy Lyon Playfair is about the case and goes into much more detail. There is also a great book called "Will Storr vs. The Paranormal" that includes a chapter on the case with a interview with Maurice Grosse. If people have a interest in ghosts I can't recommend it enough. It's about a skeptic who begins researching the paranormal and has his beliefs turned upside down. Very entertaining read. The Guy Lyon Playfair book is out of print- but Will Storr's is not
Finally, sorry for trying to "take the mick" (love that English slang). Funny username. And Janet did make some stuff up. As she was a child often expected to produce phenomena on demand I don't find this surprising and I don't think it disproves the overall case- there was way too much going on, things that she could not fake. As for the voice, I can understand the skepticism. But I think if you take a closer look at the case you might at least acknowledge the possibility the voice was legit.
Actually, there were highly credible witnesses to this event. So it did happen. Just because it was not filmed does not make it fiction. In the 70's (yes i was around then) video cameras were huge expensive and bulky things. Every vid camera taken into the house would not work. Indepenently verified by expert technicians.

Their was this special one hour show on poltergeist which aired about the mid 1980s...They had a bit on this case w/the photos and Mr. Grosse discussing it. Then that bit w/Janet being interviewed and the 'voice' came on...which to this day still haunts me...personally I feel rather sad for Janet since this documentary ends on her bitterness as to how the past will forever affect her.

Right, so since she used a Ouija board once (a board game) you blame it all on that? I've played with Ouija boards before, with no ill effects - If I'm suddenly to be haunted in years to come, can you blame all of it on the fact that I messed with a Ouija board a few times when I was little?
And what about the MILLIONS of people, the vast majority who have nothing more than a bit of innocent fun messing with Ouija boards? Did the fact that they used a Ouija board PREVENT such things?

but do you not think the producers told her to act like that to make it more believable? who actually looks like that? she obviously has extensions in. ok as a medium i know what happend there. janet whas telekinetic. she whas a high gifted child. and yes there whas a poltergeist !!! but!! it whas atracted by janet because she whas so gifted. ghost do that they go to the most gifted person. janet didn't fake annything. she whas forced in doing it. and if she didn't the ghost would lift her up and punish her. has anyone noticed that everythime something happend she whas laughing? at the pics at the video tapes? she laughs.

Lol chief, assumption really is the mother of all f-ups. Firstly, I'm a strong beleiver in ghosts, ufos, alien abductions and the like- I just made a comment on ONE part of this saga I had difficulty beleiving that's all. I beleive everything else just as her family said. Secondly, my username is a pisstake on all wannabe rudeboys, so by attempting to take the mick, you really arent offending me lol. Is it hard to accept that amidst all that activity, Janet COULD have made additional stuff up?

Bill was using Janet's false vocal fold, what you use when you lose your voice, to produce the voice. So it was coming from Janet. But most people can't keep it up for more than a few minutes because of the pain- Bill would speak for hours at a time through Janet. She had two mics put on her- one at her throat and one at her neck- the one at the neck was producing louder sound. The voice would be challenged to do things- for example, it once put a heavy cushion onto a roof, from a closed room.

The book "This House is Haunted" by Guy Lyon Playfair is about the case and goes into much more detail. There is also a great book called "Will Storr vs. The Paranormal" that includes a chapter on the case with a interview with Maurice Grosse. If people have a interest in ghosts I can't recommend it enough. It's about a skeptic who begins researching the paranormal and has his beliefs turned upside down. Very entertaining read. The Guy Lyon Playfair book is out of print- but Will Storr's is not

Finally, sorry for trying to "take the mick" (love that English slang). Funny username. And Janet did make some stuff up. As she was a child often expected to produce phenomena on demand I don't find this surprising and I don't think it disproves the overall case- there was way too much going on, things that she could not fake. As for the voice, I can understand the skepticism. But I think if you take a closer look at the case you might at least acknowledge the possibility the voice was legit.

Actually, there were highly credible witnesses to this event. So it did happen. Just because it was not filmed does not make it fiction. In the 70's (yes i was around then) video cameras were huge expensive and bulky things. Every vid camera taken into the house would not work. Indepenently verified by expert technicians.

Very much doubt they would tell her that old man died of a Haemorrhage, they may say stroke. But they would not know that many brain haemorrhage victims do lose their sight in the early stages.

Their was this special one hour show on poltergeist which aired about the mid 1980s...They had a bit on this case w/the photos and Mr. Grosse discussing it. Then that bit w/Janet being interviewed and the 'voice' came on...which to this day still haunts me...personally I feel rather sad for Janet since this documentary ends on her bitterness as to how the past will forever affect her.

Thanks for posting this documentary...I've been fascinated by this case since first seeing of it on some HOme box office special...that recording of the 'voice' has haunted me ever since...what i've always wondered about this story is why the family never contacted their clery/church etc. (were they believers or not?)instead they called in the press/police/psychic investigators...hmmm it's still all so fantastic.
