Ah Gomi used to be a beast, no cardio though. Nate Diaz looked very good against him esp. considering that not that long ago Gomi used to be the #1 LW of the world. Few Japanese fighters are/were as vicious as the Fireball Kid.

Learning to let your hands go is important, but you sound like you take measure and don't waste punches or energy. Carefulness can have it's advantage in fighting. Ali was careful too, he didn't just throw power punches like a fool.

Look at A.Silva's last fight: a minute 40 of pure planning and thinking, then one strike ends it. No problem.

Diaz face was busted open and Gomi face was scratch free after the fight.  The reason Gomi lost because all Diaz did was keep countering and try to avoid Gomi's hits so Gomi got tired. Diaz keep pepper spraying him to but did really no damage to Gomi . Even Griffin who perhaps is one of the most powerful puncher did nothing to Gomi . Trading Blows with Gomi is suicide. The only way you beat him is by submitting him or pepper spray and run for your life lol.

If Gomi had better Cardio than he would be tearing through the lightweight weigh division with ease because no one want to trade blows with Gomi.
