Here's something you can look up-Arlen Spector and John McCain's championing of banking industry deregulation (they wanted the government's hands off when it came to a lender's "right" to make profit). I'm talking about vocally, not just their voting record. Now we see what happens when lenders are left alone without rules-government has to bail them out for making bad decisions that Republicans like to say result in bad life choices. I guess if you're conservative, you can justify hypocrisy.
George W Bush works for the Bin Laden family.Proved this the day after 9/11 by evacuating the entire Bin Laden family out of America with a military escort no less. This the day after one of their family members helped to orchistrate the mass murder of 3000 Americans.
All your "thug"(and quite frankly I think it takes one to know one)all your thug has to do to be a better president then "W" is not bow down to the family that is responsible for 9/11.
@shubop9 "mental midget"...that was a cute one too bad your feeble attempt at an insult didn't have much effect on me. Anywhoo, Palin is the gov. of one of the smallest states in the unioin...lol. To me she might ass well be a community organizer. Also, Clinton did drugs too and I don't see anyone making a big deal out of that. Guess what, we all do things in our youth, apparently his drug use didn't affect him getting into harvard or becoming a top notch attorney so go cry me a river.
Why bother arguing with these comme liberals. They hate America. They hate the military. They love to fellate the Europeans. They all want something for nothing and that is what Obama promises them. Where in the constitution does it say you are entitled to free healthcare. This cradle to the grave mentality is disgusting. A bigger government is exactly what we don't need.
CusterApollo you are truely blind, deaf and dumb if you feel the mcain ticket will be the best choice but hey we are all entitled to our opinions. I am simply going to agree to disagree with you. Obviously you are content with the current economic state of this country b/c that's exactly the same thing you're going to get with this ticket. I don't usually make a habit of going back and forth with small patatoes kind of people and you are definately that.
It stuns me how many people are gullible enough to believe the B.S. about McCain being just another Bush. Try telling any republican that. How do you think Obama's 4$1 trillion increase in government spending and continued refusal to do anything about oil production is going to help the economy?
HAHAHAHA. Which economists? The ones that work for Obama. Government-run health care would cost infintely more and anyone who denys that exposes their complete lack of not only knowledge but sense. In spite of the war, the economy was doing pretty darn well until the Dems tok over Congress. Do some actual research instead of parroting democrat talking points.
Typical conservative...would rather govern based on personally-held dogmatic ideology rather than what the reality is going on around them. Here's a clue Einstein...even if everyone were a narrow-minded thinking dogmatic conservative, it wouldn't make the world, or America a better place. Contrary to what you believe, neither my views nor yours are the basis for reality. The only difference is that I know that.
You're right-conservative policies DO help certain people. You all claim that "handouts" destroy personal iniative and such, but you're quick to give them to banks/corporations (e.g., Fannie/Freddie), and WE the taxpayers have to foot the bill. You also chide Democrats for their tax-n-spend policies, but engage in deficit spending (Reagan/Bush2), which creates borrowing and the need to pay interests on those loans...which cost in the long run. Yeah-conservatism works alright. LMBAO
Republicans are too quick to justify the use of force abroad (based on perceived "threats") and violence here at home (police shootings, even when there is evidence that there was no "threat" as well as the death penalty). Obama was right...you all DO cling to your guns! LMBAO
Right. I am sure that all of Clinton's deployments Serbia, Bosnia, Somalia, Haiti, Albania, and Macedonia were all in response to direct threats to the U.S.
You clowns sound like a bunch of conspiracy theorists in denial, seeing "threats" where there ARE none. NATO/America has been encroaching on Russia's doorstep since the end of the Cold War, yet you using this recent incursion into Georgia just to prove that there is a "threat." And you all STILL insist Iraq was a threat, in defiance of facts and sense. Anyone who knows history knows that Russia wants friendly borders because it has been invaded multiple times, including US troops in 1917!
Encroaching on Russia's doorstep? The only clown here is you. You actually believe that any of the countries neighboring Russia, or the U.S., is a threat to invade Russia but Russia's invasion of Georgia is no threat? Russia wants friendly borders? You incredible idiot. You know NOTHING of history. I guess all of that Soviet aggresion never occurred. I guess all of those millions of people who disappeared there went to the moon. Get a freaking clue.
I love the reinforcement from all the speeches that OUR TROOPS DESERVE HONOR AND PRAISE FOR THEIR SACRIFICE. Honestly, that's one thing you can never accuse a Republican of not having. Read up about a recent case where an injured soldier was forced to sleep in his car because he was refused a room at a hotel when the receptionist said "I'm sorry we don't serve you military types". His reason for being there in the first place was to attend a funeral of his friend who died in battle.
One would have thought that the Vietnam War would have taught Americans that just because the government says a war is in "our interests" doesn't make it so. Matter of fact, Bush & Co. are doing the same thing the Soviet Union did in the Cuban Missle Crisis...instead of THEM putting missles on our doorstep, we are doing the same to them by putting missles in Poland, to protect us from a non-existent threat. We threated nuclear war over this; any surprise that Russia is doing the same?
Non-existent threat? You are an incredible moron. Russia invaded a sovreign neighbor in order to sieze control of the only oil pipeline to western europe that they do not control.
Granted, but those missles have been in Poland and NATO's encroachment on Russia's doorstep has been going on since the early 2,000s...long before this recent invasion. Learn the facts before trying to make them fit your ideological stance....moron!
Actually it is you that should learn the facts before calling someone a moron. It will prevent you looking like a complete idiot, like you do now. Poland refused to agree to accepting the missles in their country until Russia attacked Georgia. As soon as that happened, they immediately changed their mind. That is why Russia is threatening to attack Poland if and when the installation of missles happens.
No, but I DO get up every morning and read. You can't threaten to go to war because another country decides to place missles on your doorstep, but then defend yourself for doing the same thing.
To me, this election is more about Republican/conservative hypocrisy...they belittled Kerry's Vietnam War experience, but flaunt McCain's as proof of "preparation." Personally, I would like for Americans to be smart for once and vote for someone without so much Washington D.C. "experience." Career politicans have been in bed so much with lobbyists and big business that we need someone who's come from nothing (by his own devices) and who hasn't been tainted by self-serving "public service."
great speech! Im not a McCain fan but at least with McCain you know who you are electing and what he stands for. I might not agree with all of his policies but sure can look at him and feel like my kids will sleep safe at night. Plus Palin brings to the ticket all the things that are missing in McCain. The next few weeks are going to be interesting in the political world.
As cliche' as it may seem to vote for a War Hero, that's basically what you want. Our country was founded for the sole purpose of protecting our nation from foreign nations both diplomatically and militarily. Policies that Democrats push are supposedly implimented to improve the quality of life but at the price of the nations security. As Zapato once said: "It's better to die on your feet, than live on your knees"
We should look at the top and bottom of the ticket. But in the end, we are voting for Obama, or McCain. I think Obama is a very likeable man and usually that can get one elected to the high office. McCain is an American hero if there is such a thing. Louisiana has voted for the eventual President in the last 9 elections. The data shows that Louisiana will vote for McCain by over 60 per cent. The election is over.
@CusterApollo you missed my point. Bias is really blinding isn't it. Yes, being mayor and gov. are different than being a community organizer but alaska is such a small state it doesn't bring forth the same challenges larger states do. Furthermore, you keep forgetting this woman merely has a b.a. Obama is a harvard graduate, a civil rights attorney meaning he fought for the people as well as a senetor, and you are going to compare that with what she did with that lil' ole state...please.
Well Obama has barely done anything in the Senate [184 days], he was literally spoon fed from day one till now [meaning he has no merit of his own], and Palin has more direction that even Obama does. "Change" is the new word being thrown around, but honestly it doesn't sound like Obama has any idea what that means for the Democratic party. And being a civil rights attorney is hardly anything to be commended these days-more like a nuisance and an excuse to be elected (b/c he's black! gasp*).
Once again you continue to belittle a woman, what she accomplished and what she is about. Your view is shallow and smallminded. The size of the state has nothing to do with the argument. It is a state and she held an executive position. No matter how much school Obama has had, and no matter if he is a lawyer, that is irrelevent. They are not qualifications for the position he is running for. He has never been an executive. That is the experience that matters the most here.
The republican convention from my perspective was BORING...FULL OF REDNECKS, OLD PEOPLE, STUBBORN RICH FOLKS...WHO ONLY LOOK OUT FOR THEMSELVES...AND well take deSpErate measures to win....(palin) complete joke...
OBAMA-BIDEN! 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE REDSKINS GAME WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS SPEECH!
Well , Mrs. Palin, with all respect, yes, it's right to care about rights. Don't forget, the DEC OF I said"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal" so yes, we should treat other countries with respect, even our enemies; we should do the RIGHT thing, and talk it out. Well,Obama may be worriedthat someone won't read other's their rights, and so am I. i mean, if you stop reading other people their rights; how long will it be until you stop reading me my rights?
When Palin is Vp.....she will continue to have her lenghty list of terminating unneccessary politicians longer by firing a worthless Senator named Obama....a one hit wonder who on November 6th will be yesterday's news...
McCain is like most war heros...We respect them and we love them, but like most war heros - THEY COME BACK CRAZY....LOL
More experienced women were passed over so Palin would be a YES woman to McCain...LOL
What a slap in the face to more seasoned and experienced Republican women - another fine example of McCain proving he is not ready to lead our country - Palin is NO Hillary
Also, Palin talked more about fuck'n alaska than she did america as a whole. Some of you people really need to think. This lady said that she was born and raised in a small town all her life. Never really lived in a big city. She is so not equipped to deal with the issues in this country. If you all are willing to put the leadership of this country into her hands and mcain's hands you need your brain examined.
What does a small town have to do with it? A mayor and a governor is different than a community organizer. She talked about drilling and energy independence. She should know being in the largest energy state in the Union. And the last time I checked Alaska is part of the US. Look at a map of the counrty. You seem to be confused.
rosieparez-Palin was Governor of a state you mental midget. Obama was a community organiser. When he was a teenger he was selling drugs and doing coke. He states that in his own book.
Answer this question...are you people happy with the state this country is in? If so, then vote repub. but most americans are not happy with the state of this economy and most weren't born with silver spoon in our mouths. These people are out for personal interest not the greater good of america as a whole which is selfish ass hell. I would not send my child to war to fight for shit. You aren't protecting your country you are sending your children out to die to protect the $ of the big boys.
It goes beyond political parties. The Libs have had control in the congress for the past two years. In that time the gas proces have gone up five times higher than Bush's first six years in office. They continue to refuse a vote for drilling. Why? Because they don't care about the people. If they did care they would allow us to drill and bring the price of oil down a little. But pelosi said it best last week. She told citizens of this country to "drill their minds." Pathetic!
@StCausesARuckus you are crazy if you think democrats are scared and desperate b/c of this woman. Sweetie, we are laughing at you all. You all are being made an ass out of...lol. This has shown that Mcain makes decisions without doing his homework. He shows a major lack in judgement and just b/c this woman can shoot low blows she still has yet to say anything to sway me. Gov. of Alaska, are you kidding me? That's not being a gov. that is being a community leader....that small ass state.
@Bullocks123 are you that ignorant? Rev. wright grew up during a time where he was treated unfairly by this country, told he wasn't good enough b/c of the color of his skin and now you want to play the victim and act like this man didn't have a reason to say what he said. You've got to be kidding me. The mentality of some people in this country is all fucked up simply b/c it's something you can't relate to. Furthermore, how many catholic pres. have we had, do we link them to molestation?
American's need to get their heads out of their asses and see exactly what Obama is...Or isn't. Simply enough he has absolutely no experience to be President. He gives a hell of a speech, yet his qualifications consist of being a community organizer and a Senator. As a senator he hasn't passed any worthwhile legislation..And actually hasn't gotten much of anything accomplished. Like McCain or not, think of the unqualified person he's up against. Vote McCain.
We are American sufferred for 8 years of Republican - VOTE OMABA FOR CHANGES - We need JOBS - ECONOMY BACK - REAL ESTATE SINKING DOWN - WE NEED REFORM AND CHANGES FROM DEMOCRATICS PARTY YEYEYEYEE
Obama is the biggest piece of garbage out there, if he wins be prepared for higher taxes, and fear for your lives becuase our military will be nothing. I really hope America can do the right thing and elect Mccain.
I think people can accept that war is a disgusting waste of life and both sides endure pain and suffering. The vietnamese villagers were bombed with napalm and burned alive. Any President with real principles should withdraw US troops from Iraq, not let the casualties rise higher than they have and cause the kind of suffering that Mr Thompson talks about.
We have alwys been winning it and those of us with at least the miniscule amout of intelligence necessary to see through the treasonous democrat and media B.S. have always known it.
But winning a war doesn't mean we needed to fight it in the first place, as a heaping TON of intel indicated in the first place.
Obama was wrong about the need for a surge. Granted.
McCain was wrong about the need for a war. Without a war there is no surge. It must suck to be politically crucified for making a bad choice that you shouldn't have had to make because everybody else SHOULD'VE READ THE ****ING REPORTS BEFORE AUTHORIZING THE WAR.
You must be kidding. Everyone DID read the reports. That is why military action was approved 3 months before Bush ever made his WMD speech. The Democrats had been calling for action against Saddam since the mid 90s. It is amazing to me that so many people think this started with Bush.
Our intel was disastrous, yet one particular senator was able to look at the intel that other countries had on Saddam and realize that this was a bad war. I'm not saying McCain was the only senator to make this particular mistake, simply that he did make it.
Had he showed Obama's judgment in double-checking his facts with...say...the Israeli report on Saddam's arms, he might not've made the choice he did. But, he didn't, and 5 years and 4,000 lives later we all wonder if there was a need...
Typical clueless liberal. Everyone read the same reports. The democrats, Clinton, Gore, Kennedy, Daschle, Graham, Gephardt, and many others, were calling for action against Iraq because of the threat of Saddam's WMDs long before Bush ever ran for office. Obama was not even in Congress when the decision was made. HE LIED ABOUT HAVING TO DECIDE ON THE WAR. Get a clue.
However, he WAS one of the first people to speak out in opposition to the war (as a state congressman). You don't have to be a senator to read intelligence reports that the rest of the world makes fairly public. And being a congressman doesn't keep you from reading it. At a time when (apparently) nobody in the national senate was reading the intel reports, Barack Obama was making what turns out to be pretty much the right call.
And since we want to pursue peace anyway (or do you mean you actually would like to promote war?), does it mean that because obama is unlikely to be fighting a war, means he is ill-equipped? pity.

The fact is that republicans campaign on values. they always bring up issues of morality, that they are god loving etc. its an undisputed fact. that this woman, who campaigns on conservative, religion derived values, has a knocked up 17 year old daughter, smacks of the hypocrisy that surrounds her campaign.
Its astonishing how naive americans are. Yeah, great, he was a patriot, and a soldier. Sure. But we are electing a President here. Does that mean someone handicapped and thus unable to serve in the armed forces, can never be able to be a President?
John McCain is a patriot and a hero, and not was a patriot and a hero. You seem to think the past does not matter. It does. It forms who we are today.
Anyone can run for President, but I think qualifications are important. The fact is Obama has nothing in his resume that even suggests he should be president.
While they attack Palin for "experience" they really should turn the mirror around and look at their own candidate. Obama has less experience than Palin.
You have to step back and look at the situation from a foreigner point of view. US has really diminished in terms of standing, and importance. Have you ever visited China, India or Singapore? True there are poor regions as well, but you really have to see how far they have progressed, to understand how pathetic America's regression has been.
Was Clinton experienced? The answer is yes. Because he had something Obama never has, years of executive experience. Clinton was a governor of a state, just like Sarah Palin is. That is an executive position and it is a position in which you lead. A senator is a legislative position and not an individual leading role.
McCain has decades of experience in the Senate and is ready to take the step to the executive. Obama needs to learn more before he will be ready to take that step.
Actually the only funny thing here is you. 1st of all you generalize me into the group which is a mistake. I think for myself and don't follow anyone. I learn the issues and study the candidates and then make a decision based on that study. I never thought Clinton had no experience. In fact I felt the opposite way. As a governor he had plenty. 2nd you link me in with the Republicans. You don't know me so don't make such claims. I don't vote based on party. I look at qualifications.
I agree, it does not necessarily qualify him for the Presidential role. But at least I have some guarantee of his fluency with intellectual topics. Just as you are convinced of McCain's qualifications somewhat due to his erm, POW days in vietnam, at least give some consideration to the intellectual prowess of Obama.
Character is a big deal. But McCain also has been in the senate for decades and has attained the experience from those years in office.
Obama is a good speaker. I give him that. But I question his timing. He has not been in the senate long enough in my opinion. Only 184 days of service does not cut it in my book. I suggest he come back in four to eight years, or when he has learned a little.
Also the fact that Obama really doesn't seem to have any idea what he's trying to accomplish besides winning an election. I have to agree what Palin said- he promotes change for his career; not the other way around.
He's obtained legislative experience. Two entirely different ballgames. Obama's been in charge of community organizing, and McCain's learned the ins-and-outs of wiggling around in the Senate. Other than that, there's no real difference.
Obama's "community organizing" was working for Acorn. A front business who's real purpose was regestering as many new democrat voters as possible by any means possible. They were caught numerous times registering people more than once, and registering illegal aliens, felons, deceased people, and other ineligible to vote. There is your difference. One man with ties to crime, terrorists, and racists. And onr man who has devoted his life to serving his country.
Please provide some sources for your information, because I've never heard anything close to what you're saying here, and I think that, by this point, someone would've run more information on it had this been true...
But Biden is not running against McCain. He is running for vice president. The second position on the ticket. And as long as Obama is at the top of the ticket he will make the decisions, not Biden.
True. So, Palin isn't running against Obama. McCain is. And McCain's got as many days of executive experience as Obama does....zero. Also, are we all aware that the last Senator elected was Kennedy? So having been a good senator and a good prez. aren't necessarily connected.
I would bet that losing your wife and a child on what would otherwise be the biggest day of your life is just as bad psychologically as what McCain went through, if not worse.
True that McCain and Obama have the same amount of executive experience. Zero.
But the point is when picking between two zeros you choose the one with more experience in other areas. Both are senators, but one has been in the senate for 184 days. The other has been in the senate for decades and has experience with foreign affairs and has written legislation. McCain is better placed to lead right now than Obama. Give Obama a few more years and he can be ready. Just not now.
Then again, McCain doesn't have the experience working hands-on in inner cities. McCain might have an edge in foreign affairs, but he's clearly totally out-of-touch domestically.
And Obama wrote a major senate ethics reform bill, but it was filibustered by John McCain...
HAHAHAHA. Obama's hands-on working was for Acorn, illegally registering people to vote as Democrats. Even still, what kind of a moron thinks that inner-city organizing is a more important skill for a President than foreign policy, economics, etc. Obama never wrote anything of importance. Hell, he couldn't even decide how to vote in the State Senate.
Again, please source what you're saying. I can't find anything that looks credible that claims he was working to illegally register democrat voters. I do have credible information that he worked to help people get asbestos removed from their buildings and improve their schools.
And its basically a given at this point that Obama has the edge on the economy. McCain has a slight edge (theoretically) on foreign policy. And most of Obama's major bills have been foreign development bills.
This is a great speech, paying tribute to a great soldier. John McCain, at that time in his life, at least, is/was a man of great character. However, once being a man of great character doesn't make you a man of great character forever (see Julius Caesar, for example). I will not question his patriotism or his service, but having either in the past doesn't cement him as a man of them now.
Still a beautiful speech to honor his service, which is legendary.
This was a great speech! Thompson did an excellent job! Being President is all about character and experience. McCain has it, Barry does not. End of story.
Exploitation of what? Are you suggesting McCain's captivity is being exploited. He's exploiting himself? The man was a POW and tortured for 5 1/2 years. Few people in this country have suffered and sacrified so much. Please tell me I'm misunderstanding what you mean.
You mean like inspirational speaking qualities or a wealth of world experiences from private schools in Hawaii to Harlem to slums in Indonesia, or do you mean like compassion (which, while often over-employed, is still a quality)?
You don't have to like the man, but clearly, he has a lot of qualities that he is capable of exploiting...
I didn't mean to imply that they are. The question was qualities, not qualifications. Although, one could very well say that the ability to both instruct and inspire are excellent qualities for a leader to have.
If all we have against the man is that he mis-spoke in regards to the number of states in the union, we can easily build a case miles long against McCain...
And I'd almost guarantee that his schedule at the time isn't something you've done. If it is, maybe you should run...
I have Obama associating with community organizers, Senators and Governors, and with some of the very cream of the world. Please give some examples of whom he associates with that you consider to be "trash."
Terrorist William Ayres. Racist Rev. Wright. Influence-peddling slum lord Tony Rezko, who helped Obama buy his multi million dollar home with a VERY questionable loan deal that no one else could have gotten. Should I go on? That is more than enough for most people.
However, he has said (and we have no reason except general meanness to believe he was lying) that, had he known of Rezko's criminal activity, he wouldn't have done business with him...
There's a difference between geetting a good loan because you're a friend of the family and getting it because you're on the inside of the mob.
What about community members he's helped and the slum lords he took down while practicing law?
Alright...but he severed all ties with Wright once it became clear he was a lunatic, he doesn't associate with the Clintons except politically, he's never associated with Bin Laden. The last two are simply lies.
What about McCain's association with anti-semitic John Hagee, with George Bush, or Karl Rove? Ann Coulter, Mike Huckabee (who made an assassination joke at the NRA convention)?
Obama dindt "severed all ties with Wright once it became clear he was a lunatic", I dont know how you thought you could push that bullshit passed people here. Obama was forced for political reasons to do so because people around the country were exposed to the church, and his spitural advisor" that Obama had been loyal to for 20 YEARS.
How in Gods name are you so dense to not know that that guy was running sermons like that for years? HE WAS CAUGHT ON TAPE!
I suppose it is easier to attack a supporter than the cause he supports. If you honestly believe based on two sermons that all Wright ever did was spew racism, then you might wonder what John Hagee has been teaching his entire career...anti-semitism...
So your suspicion goes farther than the fact that they haven't spoken in over 3 months? They're still 'secret pals,' right?
So, if all you have is a conspiracy theory and two sermons, please keep your misspelled insults to yourself.

John Mccain this John Mccain that hey whatever you do Fred Baby don't tell those senior citizens that John mccain was born in PANAMA!!! And can't even run for president!!! Hey don't believe me read the Constitution!!!

And you all STILL insist Iraq was a threat, in defiance of facts and sense. Anyone who knows history knows that Russia wants friendly borders because it has been invaded multiple times, including US troops in 1917!
Pariah2001 3 years ago

Yes, That was in the U.K. That is what liberlism gets you. There are plenty of democrats like that here.

Pariah2001 3 years ago
Non-existent threat? You are an incredible moron. Russia invaded a sovreign neighbor in order to sieze control of the only oil pipeline to western europe that they do not control.
omcx1 3 years ago
Granted, but those missles have been in Poland and NATO's encroachment on Russia's doorstep has been going on since the early 2,000s...long before this recent invasion. Learn the facts before trying to make them fit your ideological stance....moron!
Pariah2001 3 years ago
Actually it is you that should learn the facts before calling someone a moron. It will prevent you looking like a complete idiot, like you do now. Poland refused to agree to accepting the missles in their country until Russia attacked Georgia. As soon as that happened, they immediately changed their mind. That is why Russia is threatening to attack Poland if and when the installation of missles happens.

Pariah2001-I'm curious, do you get up every morning and play the Russian national anthem.
shubop9 3 years ago

Pariah2001 3 years ago
great speech! Im not a McCain fan but at least with McCain you know who you are electing and what he stands for. I might not agree with all of his policies but sure can look at him and feel like my kids will sleep safe at night. Plus Palin brings to the ticket all the things that are missing in McCain. The next few weeks are going to be interesting in the political world.
wishbonek9kennel 3 years ago
As cliche' as it may seem to vote for a War Hero, that's basically what you want. Our country was founded for the sole purpose of protecting our nation from foreign nations both diplomatically and militarily. Policies that Democrats push are supposedly implimented to improve the quality of life but at the price of the nations security. As Zapato once said: "It's better to die on your feet, than live on your knees"
theaznfishy 3 years ago

Obama is a harvard graduate, a civil rights attorney meaning he fought for the people as well as a senetor, and you are going to compare that with what she did with that lil' ole state...please.
rosieparez 3 years ago
Well Obama has barely done anything in the Senate [184 days], he was literally spoon fed from day one till now [meaning he has no merit of his own], and Palin has more direction that even Obama does. "Change" is the new word being thrown around, but honestly it doesn't sound like Obama has any idea what that means for the Democratic party. And being a civil rights attorney is hardly anything to be commended these days-more like a nuisance and an excuse to be elected (b/c he's black! gasp*).
theaznfishy 3 years ago
Once again you continue to belittle a woman, what she accomplished and what she is about. Your view is shallow and smallminded. The size of the state has nothing to do with the argument. It is a state and she held an executive position. No matter how much school Obama has had, and no matter if he is a lawyer, that is irrelevent. They are not qualifications for the position he is running for. He has never been an executive. That is the experience that matters the most here.

Also, Palin talked more about fuck'n alaska than she did america as a whole. Some of you people really need to think. This lady said that she was born and raised in a small town all her life. Never really lived in a big city. She is so not equipped to deal with the issues in this country. If you all are willing to put the leadership of this country into her hands and mcain's hands you need your brain examined.
rosieparez 3 years ago
What does a small town have to do with it? A mayor and a governor is different than a community organizer. She talked about drilling and energy independence. She should know being in the largest energy state in the Union. And the last time I checked Alaska is part of the US. Look at a map of the counrty. You seem to be confused.

If so, then vote repub. but most americans are not happy with the state of this economy and most weren't born with silver spoon in our mouths. These people are out for personal interest not the greater good of america as a whole which is selfish ass hell. I would not send my child to war to fight for shit. You aren't protecting your country you are sending your children out to die to protect the $ of the big boys.
rosieparez 3 years ago
It goes beyond political parties. The Libs have had control in the congress for the past two years. In that time the gas proces have gone up five times higher than Bush's first six years in office. They continue to refuse a vote for drilling. Why? Because they don't care about the people. If they did care they would allow us to drill and bring the price of oil down a little. But pelosi said it best last week. She told citizens of this country to "drill their minds." Pathetic!

omcx1 3 years ago 2
But winning a war doesn't mean we needed to fight it in the first place, as a heaping TON of intel indicated in the first place.
Obama was wrong about the need for a surge. Granted.
McCain was wrong about the need for a war. Without a war there is no surge. It must suck to be politically crucified for making a bad choice that you shouldn't have had to make because everybody else SHOULD'VE READ THE ****ING REPORTS BEFORE AUTHORIZING THE WAR.
thebushidoka 3 years ago
You must be kidding. Everyone DID read the reports. That is why military action was approved 3 months before Bush ever made his WMD speech. The Democrats had been calling for action against Saddam since the mid 90s. It is amazing to me that so many people think this started with Bush.
omcx1 3 years ago
A lot of senators that voted for the war were wrong. That list includes Clinton and Biden. They have since flip flopped on the issue.
The intel was a disaster. Bush was working off of the same intel Clinton had. It was years old and in need of a new look.
CusterApollo 3 years ago
Our intel was disastrous, yet one particular senator was able to look at the intel that other countries had on Saddam and realize that this was a bad war. I'm not saying McCain was the only senator to make this particular mistake, simply that he did make it.
Had he showed Obama's judgment in double-checking his facts with...say...the Israeli report on Saddam's arms, he might not've made the choice he did. But, he didn't, and 5 years and 4,000 lives later we all wonder if there was a need...
thebushidoka 3 years ago
Typical clueless liberal. Everyone read the same reports. The democrats, Clinton, Gore, Kennedy, Daschle, Graham, Gephardt, and many others, were calling for action against Iraq because of the threat of Saddam's WMDs long before Bush ever ran for office. Obama was not even in Congress when the decision was made. HE LIED ABOUT HAVING TO DECIDE ON THE WAR. Get a clue.
omcx1 3 years ago
finally someone else who understands that he's lying! He's been in the senate for three years!!!
Deangelo08092 3 years ago
Do some math. Obama was in the Senate from 2005 to the Present. Iraq war began in 2003. Obama wasn't a senator then.
Deangelo08092 3 years ago
However, he WAS one of the first people to speak out in opposition to the war (as a state congressman). You don't have to be a senator to read intelligence reports that the rest of the world makes fairly public. And being a congressman doesn't keep you from reading it. At a time when (apparently) nobody in the national senate was reading the intel reports, Barack Obama was making what turns out to be pretty much the right call.
thebushidoka 3 years ago
And since we want to pursue peace anyway (or do you mean you actually would like to promote war?), does it mean that because obama is unlikely to be fighting a war, means he is ill-equipped? pity.

The fact is that republicans campaign on values. they always bring up issues of morality, that they are god loving etc. its an undisputed fact. that this woman, who campaigns on conservative, religion derived values, has a knocked up 17 year old daughter, smacks of the hypocrisy that surrounds her campaign.
kching 3 years ago
Its astonishing how naive americans are. Yeah, great, he was a patriot, and a soldier. Sure. But we are electing a President here. Does that mean someone handicapped and thus unable to serve in the armed forces, can never be able to be a President?
Come on. Americans, pls wake up.
kching 3 years ago
You don't get it.
CusterApollo 3 years ago
Was Clinton "experienced" then?
Where was America then, where is America now?
You have to step back and look at the situation from a foreigner point of view. US has really diminished in terms of standing, and importance. Have you ever visited China, India or Singapore? True there are poor regions as well, but you really have to see how far they have progressed, to understand how pathetic America's regression has been.
kching 3 years ago

CusterApollo 3 years ago
Maybe I just adore a Harvard degree.
kching 3 years ago
Maybe. But that does not qualify you for the highest office in the land.
CusterApollo 3 years ago
I agree, it does not necessarily qualify him for the Presidential role. But at least I have some guarantee of his fluency with intellectual topics. Just as you are convinced of McCain's qualifications somewhat due to his erm, POW days in vietnam, at least give some consideration to the intellectual prowess of Obama.
kching 3 years ago
Character is a big deal. But McCain also has been in the senate for decades and has attained the experience from those years in office.
Obama is a good speaker. I give him that. But I question his timing. He has not been in the senate long enough in my opinion. Only 184 days of service does not cut it in my book. I suggest he come back in four to eight years, or when he has learned a little.
CusterApollo 3 years ago 4
Also the fact that Obama really doesn't seem to have any idea what he's trying to accomplish besides winning an election. I have to agree what Palin said- he promotes change for his career; not the other way around.
theaznfishy 3 years ago
He's obtained legislative experience. Two entirely different ballgames. Obama's been in charge of community organizing, and McCain's learned the ins-and-outs of wiggling around in the Senate. Other than that, there's no real difference.
thebushidoka 3 years ago
Obama's "community organizing" was working for Acorn. A front business who's real purpose was regestering as many new democrat voters as possible by any means possible. They were caught numerous times registering people more than once, and registering illegal aliens, felons, deceased people, and other ineligible to vote. There is your difference. One man with ties to crime, terrorists, and racists. And onr man who has devoted his life to serving his country.

CusterApollo 3 years ago
Then by the same token, Biden has more experience than McCain...
Also, Biden has overcome great hardships in his life. My God, Palin and Biden should be running...
thebushidoka 3 years ago
I bet that Biden's hardships can't compare to that North Vietnamese shit hole POW camp for 5 years.
Top that........you can't.
Swampee6 3 years ago 3
But Biden is not running against McCain. He is running for vice president. The second position on the ticket. And as long as Obama is at the top of the ticket he will make the decisions, not Biden.
CusterApollo 3 years ago
True. So, Palin isn't running against Obama. McCain is. And McCain's got as many days of executive experience as Obama does....zero. Also, are we all aware that the last Senator elected was Kennedy? So having been a good senator and a good prez. aren't necessarily connected.
I would bet that losing your wife and a child on what would otherwise be the biggest day of your life is just as bad psychologically as what McCain went through, if not worse.
thebushidoka 3 years ago
True that McCain and Obama have the same amount of executive experience. Zero.
But the point is when picking between two zeros you choose the one with more experience in other areas. Both are senators, but one has been in the senate for 184 days. The other has been in the senate for decades and has experience with foreign affairs and has written legislation. McCain is better placed to lead right now than Obama. Give Obama a few more years and he can be ready. Just not now.
CusterApollo 3 years ago
Then again, McCain doesn't have the experience working hands-on in inner cities. McCain might have an edge in foreign affairs, but he's clearly totally out-of-touch domestically.
And Obama wrote a major senate ethics reform bill, but it was filibustered by John McCain...
thebushidoka 3 years ago
HAHAHAHA. Obama's hands-on working was for Acorn, illegally registering people to vote as Democrats. Even still, what kind of a moron thinks that inner-city organizing is a more important skill for a President than foreign policy, economics, etc. Obama never wrote anything of importance. Hell, he couldn't even decide how to vote in the State Senate.
omcx1 3 years ago
Again, please source what you're saying. I can't find anything that looks credible that claims he was working to illegally register democrat voters. I do have credible information that he worked to help people get asbestos removed from their buildings and improve their schools.
And its basically a given at this point that Obama has the edge on the economy. McCain has a slight edge (theoretically) on foreign policy. And most of Obama's major bills have been foreign development bills.
thebushidoka 3 years ago
This is a great speech, paying tribute to a great soldier. John McCain, at that time in his life, at least, is/was a man of great character. However, once being a man of great character doesn't make you a man of great character forever (see Julius Caesar, for example). I will not question his patriotism or his service, but having either in the past doesn't cement him as a man of them now.
Still a beautiful speech to honor his service, which is legendary.

From the American Heritage Dictionary:
tr.v. (ĭk-sploit', ěk'sploit') ex·ploit·ed, ex·ploit·ing, ex·ploits
To employ to the greatest possible advantage: exploit one's talents.
What's the matter? Finding yourself wishing Obama had a quality or two to exploit?
nicholsonadam 3 years ago
You mean like inspirational speaking qualities or a wealth of world experiences from private schools in Hawaii to Harlem to slums in Indonesia, or do you mean like compassion (which, while often over-employed, is still a quality)?
You don't have to like the man, but clearly, he has a lot of qualities that he is capable of exploiting...

If all we have against the man is that he mis-spoke in regards to the number of states in the union, we can easily build a case miles long against McCain...

McCain was born in another country, but to American citizens. One was a Naval officer in the Armed forces of the United States. Therefore he is a citizen of the counrty. Nice try, but you lose.
