Ok, i am a pilot, and i know that it is impossible to open the emergency, or an doors in-flight.. no, they don't lock them.. but the preasurization difference prevents the doors from opening..
@afgrocks123 Really Yamanashi? You're a pilot? Any idiot knows you cant open the doors in a pressurized vessel. Why do pilots always have to tell others they are pilots. People don't give a shit. Well, maybe other pilots do.
@joepatroni77 heh,, i bet half the people who fly can't wait to get on a plane back, except those for example on this video who cant afford a business class.. being a pilot is amazing,, you dont sit in the office for 8 hours with a routine schedule..
@afgrocks123 I am a CFI, and thats not exactly true, you might want to study a little bit more on the subject. Either way, this is simply a commercial so I don't care.
bit silly really as whilst airborne due to the differences in pressure the doors will not be able to open. this is because you need to pull the door towards you before opening it.
@a330ftw Only partly true: they have some of the oldest 747-400 still in servive. Economy class there is not as nice: old seats, IFE is really bad - screen from early 70's in the ceiling just visible for a few. I flew Frankfurt-Newark this summer on one of those.
@itsmeKyle13 actually there is more pressure inside than out, hence the term explosive decompression, which is caused by pressurized air inside the aircraft being forced through holes in the fuselage. If your theory were true, a plane with a breached fuselage would implode in on itself.
@damo4576 Take a look at emergency exit doors, they first have to be pulled inside and then opened, pulling the door inside the cabin against the pressure inside relative to the outside pressure would take two gorillas to do.
@TheTruthHurtsYup Oh yeh you're completely right, it would be quite a feat for one man to do, but I was correcting the comment about pressure being highest on the outside when it's the opposite, not too keen on trying to open an aircraft door in mid flight either just to test the theory, lol.
*mumbles* stupid old kid scrtaches my face now its bleeding and i had to jump of because of him he screams like a lady i hope he doesn't rest in peace i want him to rest is misery!
not to be gay or anything but it is impossible to open a door while in flight Wind pressure is too great for the door to actually open (let alone blow open)
@fmpanic000 ummm... that's exactly why it WOULD blow open. The atmospheric pressure is less the higher you go, and the pressure inside of the plane doesn't change much. A plane at a high altitude is like an inflated balloon; one small hole and all the air tries to rush out of it at once. Opening a door at a large plane's altitude would probably give you that similar effect like in the commercial.
@FadoDeo4444 but all cabin doors slightly bigger than the frame the door is placed into. So that way the door must be pulled in and then out. In the air, the different air pressure causes the door to have a motion like it wants to be pushed out but since the door is bigger than the frame, the door will just be stopped by the bigger frame and it's impossible to pull the door in and then out in the air since air pressure is dramatically different.
@FadoDeo4444 Rcflyyer is correct. It is impossible for the door to open mid-flight because the door is bigger than the frame and with the dramatic difference in air pressure than in the cabin the door is pushed into the frame. The door can only open if it is first pulled into the plane on its axis then rotated then pushed out. Why do you think people have tried to open doors in mid-flight but have been unsuccessful?
What a crock, as someone else already said, you can't open a cabin door because of the thousands of pounds per square inch air pressure against it. I did, however, have a kid from the row in front of me on a TWA 880 attack my face
No, it works the other way around, the pressurize the plane, meaning more pressure inside than out, so the pressure inside is actually pushing outwards, but airline plane doors do open in not out to prevent that from happening mid flight.
@jonny96 yeah.. for rich people.. uhm an average seat in the economy in a transatlantic flight is 900usd... what more business class... i have nothing against business class i would love to fly first/business class someday, but it's too expensive.
@wizzair1313 lmao ALL Airlines are liek this rich or not if you're in coach. you're fucked jsut the same as everyone on every airline whos flying coach.
@shtstirrer - Actually, it's the cabin pressure. The door has to open in a bit before it can open out. It's like a plug, and the pressure holds it closed.
@pdtgoblue Next you're gonna tell us it's impossible to survive falling 37,000ft and landing on the deck pool of a cruise ship, right? Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the humor a little!
Ok but it was not apropiate to show him jumping out. And flying would be quicker and safer then going on a cruise cause a you can jump into sea if you were on a cruise and maybe get sucked in to the engine but on aircrafts the outdoor pressure would hold the doors in place
@LiamDTV It's not the "outdoor pressure" that holds them shut, its the internal cabin pressure.Still, at about 37,000 ft, most doors are still pressurized to about 8,000ft or 10.8psi, requiring a little over 11 tons of force to open them, and thats without the aid of a door handle, because it would have snapped off well before 2 tons of force applied to it!
@sanitybleeds So, I'm guessing, that's why the doors have to be pulled inwards before pushing them out, because if the door opened by simply pushing the door out all the doors would open as soon as the cabin was pressurised. XD
