That's funny. I was using the SM58 before, too. It's not so good for recording vocals. It's great on stage, though.

I have an old Sony Digital 8 video camera. I bought it about 8 years ago and intentionally wanted to get one with Firewire out. It still works awesome with my mac, just plugging it in over the firewire. No other connections... Audio, video, and transport controls (so you can control the camera from the computer) it all goes over firewire...

I really had no clue when I bought the SM58. Legendary mic, but not for studio vocals. I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on the C01, and I'm very glad that my pre-amp (M-Audio MobilePre USB) has phantom power.

Thanks for the prompting - I've just bid on a cheap DV camcorder on eBay (US$30 inc. postage if I get it), which should be a massive step up from my el-cheapo webcam. Future's looking shiny, and hopefully I'll have Allegri's "Miserere" up on YouTube before too long :-)
