(desculpem a sinceridade!)
I'm glad that somebody out there is still trying to perform the incredible songs of this incredible legendary group. So thanks so much for that. Your rendition is quite pleasant if one takes it as a light folk song based loosely on a classic. HOWEVER, to speak honestly, I'm sorry--but even in this drastically lowered key, you just don't have anywhere near enough voice to sing this song in the spirit of the original.
Thanks! Made me feel good to see people in this day and age still interested in keeping alive the works of this great group. Great job - don't ever let the music die.
how can you take a 10+ minute song and cut it in half? Oh yeah, you're not Renaissance! However, haveing an Ashes are Burning song on youtube, is better than not! Thanks for your efforts!
They removed the bridge is all they did...there's a fast section in the original which is basically instrumental playing around (a lot of A minor and B minor chords with flourishes), they just took that section out.
It's tough, Annie has a distinct voice because almost never did you hear her using vibrato, she used her voice to almost produce a "bell" sound instead which isn't something you notice until you actually hear someone who ISN'T Annie trying to pull it off...my ex is classically trained vocally and she always had a rough time doing Annie's songs.
londonbangkok,I agree with you 1000%: nobody emulating Renaissance any more and it's a shame.Such exquisite and evolved music, but requires real musical discipline & technique to pull off a lot of it,and the people who have these skills would rather use them doing what "sells." And Renaissance-type stuff may not be what makes the big bucks any more. We can just continue loving it, watching it on Youtube, and maybe singing it to ourselves at home behind closed doors, huh?
Sorry, but five stars is ridiculous, especially coming from her friends. She would be lovely to hear in a small club, but it is a direct copy with no inventiveness. Worth 3 stars but I'm giving it two just to get the average back to something reasonable.
Awesome job, ladies and band! Beautiful!

Well, if you're going to take on a project that has a vocal performance which will doom you to fail by comparison...
This is really a nice effort tho and I'm glad someone had enough nerve & skills to attempt it.

Superb!
Renaissance had their own following; they weren't in it for fame, but for the music AND, I think, sharing their journey and discoveries with us.
Likewise, Theresa, you and your band took this lengthy song and made it your own.
THAT is true accomplishment.
It is difficult to do a piece like this without satisfying for less than a duplicate cover.
Annie was a breath of fresh air and stood above the rest; so do you and your band for sharing and giving this music new life.

Well, admittedly, it is difficult to try, so full marks for the attempt. Anyways, the upper registers are, er, debatable and thin.
Personally, I would love to year David Sylvian sing it.

Bravo.
Nice job. It's not easy singing Renaissance songs because Annie Haslam had such an incredible vocal range.

I could never imagine someone else singing "Renaissance", specifically Annie Haslam. It's very good. I wish I could sing like that. Well done!

Brilliant song! Hard to do justice to..... they manage quite well...
The fact that so few people try to emulate Renaissance and their wonderful epic songs makes me sad. 3 star s for trying and doing well.
