its not supernatural, its entirely natural.

to opposing currents make a whirlpool, that breaks the ice off in a circle. the fact it's a smooth circle is just that it's been further eroded.

Ice circles do occur. The conditions of temperature and current have to be perfect. Theres a small town in Pennsylvania called Kennerdell where they form on the Allegheny River nearby. Sometimes you get a couple that grind against each other and make a nail on the chalkboard type sound. They call it 'shrieking ice'.

This can be seen just about every year all over the world where the river is shallow and slow moving. Theres nothing "super" about it except that its super cool. But all natural and common givin the proper situation.
