  • Meshuggah is REALITY!

  • what's the first song?

  • Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession are the albums I can't fucking wait for. Once they come out, I'm gonna listen to them for a straight week and then off myself in happiness : )

Fuck my dream of my band and writing/ directing my movies

  • SO FAR AWAY!.....Wait!? O_O

  • Can't get into this band. Don't know why. I have a few of their songs and some are alright but overall I don't care for these guys. My fellow metal head buddy says they are awesome and use 8 string guitars and all this other shit and I'm just like bro, put on some thrash, prog, or tech for fucks sake. I get that they are experimental but gah fuck them! Let's listen to Warbringer, Necrophagist, Animals As Leaders, Persefone, or Spawn of Possession please!

  • @blackblurable persevere! it took me 7 years to like the first album of theirs i had - Nothing. totally worth it! i'd recommend listening to New Millennium Cyanide Christ

  • @blackblurable That's interesting. A lot of modern bands cite Meshuggah as one of their influences. Animals as Leaders specifically, along with the whole djent genre, are highly influenced by Meshuggah.

  • @DavidAMIs Really I've heard that but fuck almighty! Man. I only like the songs War and Chaosphere that I can remember but not the others. New Millennium Cyanide christ kinda is iffy. I can dig that originality and stuff and skill but as far as I guess you could say overall noise they produce transponding into music, I just can't get into in. It's like when my buddy tried and kinda got me into Nevermore but I can't stand the vocals. With Meshuggah it's something else. I'm gonna keep trying tho

  • @blackblurable I can respect that. I listen to Meshuggah but I have to be in the mood for it, myself. And sometimes a band could be genuinely good and talented but for whatever reason I just can't get into it. It happens, so I understand. You don't have to like all bands.

  • @DavidAMIs Thanks bro that means a lot coming from a stranger I never met before. Recently I been listening to Spawn of Possession, Necrophagist, some Dream Theater, Persefone(most under rated band ever), Warbringer, Animals As Leaders, Christian Muenzner's solo album Timewarp which is FUCKING AMAZING! Just not the first song. But Confusion, Dawn of the Shred, Soulmates, and Over the Mountains are insane. Oh and I been listening to Megadeth and Maiden lately. Still waiting on new albums to come

  • @blackblurable Yeah, YouTube is generally full of immature and obnoxious kiddies who think they know something. I haven't heard of some of those bands but I'll be sure to check them out. Has Necro released anything since Epitaph? I've been waiting for that for years now. The new Animals as Leaders is much better than the self-titled in my opinion.

  • @DavidAMIs Well Necro as I know hasn't come out with anything yet. If your talking about Warbringer, listen to the songs Severed Reality, Jackal, Prey for Death, Scorched Earth, and one of their new songs from their new album Shattered Like Glass which is epic headbanging. As for Persefone. Listen to the album Core Starting with Sanctuary: Light and Grief Act 1 Goddess Wrath. I think the intro riff is awesome. They have a newer album called Shin-Ken but I only really like Rage Stained Blade

  • @DavidAMIs Rage Stained Blade is like epic tech prog metal with a super sweet solo. The only problem that I think someone would have with the band is the vocals. They are more on the higher end but still tight. And then Dream Theater is just Dream Theater. My buddies always liked their not so how do I say? I don't know. But for me The Glass Prison is probably like their best song and my friends never bump it. Probably because it has to do with addiction.

  • I LIKE JUICE!!! AND ITS THE TRUTH!

  • I like the part where he says "reality"

  • the last bit is from Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol Niger Within. nothing to do with Meshuggah

  • @karellen483 aaaaaaaah nope its from the exquisite machinery of torture(chaosphere) ,i think, i'm pretty sure

  • Comment removed

  • This has to be the funniest 10second or less clip on youtube. beating out Lion King in 5seconds

  • Reality?

  • I lold so hard at the first pick

  • Reality.

  • WE ALL LOVE TEA.

  • WE ARE LIKE TEA!

  • @GUIGOISH And tea is awesome. Lol

  • i like the part that he emphasized reality... and also the part where he pronounced every syllable clearly like Re A luh Tey

  • Wow, people are retarded. Also @Ragnarockalypse

I still wouldn't call it technical. I mean, I guess an easy way to look at it(if you're right-handed): Left hand is technicality, right hand is precision. There aren't any songs tthat I've heard by Meshuggah where my left hand has trouble keeping up. It's always my right hand. The trouble is that they use some very strange note structures and time signatures, and it makes it difficult to learn, but not to play. I use In Death Is Life as a warmup.

  • Hai, did he say Reality? I think so!

  • lol he likes to sing about reality

  • @nothingdefaced clicked on a link someone had on there Facebook page. didn't go searching for it or anything...

  • u can argue all u like about technical, but like........ they are just so fucking annoying. I don't find them a pleasure to listen to, the sound of shit slipping out of my ass as I crap than shortly after flush the toilet is much more enjoyable and soothing.

  • @pandemicdeaths AAAAAAnd you are herrrre.... why?

  • You could do the same with Darkane and the word "dimensions" lol

  • WE ALL LIKE TEA

  • WE ARE THE TEA

  • @fmjr10 Why the fuck make the same comment as the other top comment YOU CUNT?

  • @MuleMan14 Bro, you're fucking retarded. Kill yourself, please. "WE ARE THE TEA" and "WE ALL LIKE TEA" aren't the same thing. Retards like you should be listening to the genre rap or someshit. go away.

  • @fmjr10 It's similar enough to classify you as a total faggot

  • @MuleMan14 Butthurt as fuck. to much assplay from your dad yesterday or what? The comment wasn't even on the top when I posted it, theirs a reason my comment has more thumbs up then the other one.

  • @fmjr10 More thumbs because it's a shit ripoff? I fail to see the reason why, please waste your time explaining

  • Make a BTBAM video that's like this. Their lyricist seem to like to use the word 'dream' on their lyrics.

  • @CloggedLacrimalGland Its already been done\

  • HAHAHA! Ive been wanting to make a Meshuggah 'reality' vid for ages! Thanks for beating me to it!

  • I've had better sounding bowel movements than this easy to play bullshit for beginner band.

  • Calm down. @jadrummer110 is a struggling troll wanting to be famous in the interwebs. Next time, he'll give freehugs with a boner on the subway.

  • @CloggedLacrimalGland tell Meshuggah that they can have the day off from blowing me ok? And Thom Hack is just a boring dipshit of a drummer. I 'm so glad Meshuggah will never get anywhere but dive clubs....hahahahaha

  • @jadrummer110 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • I ordered an 8-string Agile Intrepid pro off of ebay for 700 bucks, it only took 3 days for it to get to my front step. This guitar is worth every penny, sounds amazing, and now I can play Meshuggah songs til my fingers fall off..... in which case i'll use my wrist-nubs

  • Having played 6-string guitars for about 9 years, and having recently purchased an 8-string, I can tell you with absolute certainty that it(the 8-string) is harder to play. But I digress.

Frankly, Meshuggah's music isn't technically astounding, but it's brilliantly impactful and original which is more than you can say for a lot of the other metal bands of this decade.

  • @Stacy420 I agree mate, I play a 7 string so not quite as heavy duty but still is challenging at first

  • @Stacy420 If you don't think Meshuggah is technically astounding you obviously haven't looked into them enough.

  • @YoYoHall They aren't technically astounding. Playing unique polyrhythms and erratic scales isn't being technical. Meshuggah is not a technical metal band. Compare them to Protest The Hero, for example. Granted, Protest isn't as original or quite as heavy, but they are the definition of a technical metal band. I mean, the band members themselves said the only song they had to practice for was Bleed, and that's the most "technical" song they have.

  • I think what you're trying to say is that they're astoundingly -precise-. They aren't technical, but almost everything they play is -very- precise. If you play any of it, like In Death - Is Death for example, the song has a repeating rhythm throughout, not for the entirety of it but it recurs several times, that goes, basically: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1234, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1234, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1234, etc... Listen to the song around 2:54, it's the best example of that rhythm. >>>

  • Now, if you flub even one of those notes, even slightly, you'll be completely off-time. There's several songs like that, another example is Rational Gaze. Literally, you have to be -so- precise when you play that song it's almost maddening. New Millennium Cyanide Christ is similar, but much more forgiving. The intro pattern, with two quarter notes played between each set of 8th notes('3-4' is the exception, it's played as 7): 4, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7, 3-4, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7, 4, 7.

  • @YoYoHall I guess what I'm trying to say: Precision and Technicality are not the same thing. I am -not- a technical player by any stretch, but I'm very precise. I can't sweep-pick or do legato runs, but I can play the first minute of Bleed, and I can play New Millennium Cyanide Christ all the way through. That's my point. A lot of what Meshuggah plays is just -easy-, technically speaking. The notes are easy to hit, but their precision is what makes those simple notes into complex polyrhythms.

  • @Stacy420 >Meshuggah's music isn't technically astounding

    >isn't technically astounding

    >technically astounding

    >astounding

  • @Stacy420 rhythmically its pretty impressive

  • @Stacy420 ...isn't technically astounding? Sure, the NOTES they're playing aren't complex, but the (poly)rhythms are mind-blowing. I think it's safe to say that, even technically speaking, Meshuggah is one of the most impressive bands out there.

I still agree with your message though :) their music is "brilliantly impactful and original"

  • @mewv Dude, polyrhythms are not hard. It's just memorization. Or if you can figure out the pattern to it, like 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, etc. You're going a VERY far stretch to say Meshuggah is one of the most technically impressive bands. Born of Osiris's The Discovery is an absolute masterful album of every instrument. The Contortionist's Exoplanet, same deal there. You just have to know where to look..

  • @Dissimulatex scale lines and string/finger skipping fragments aren't too hard either, its just a matter of speed which people sacrifice quality for, progressive polyrhythms can be confusing unless one knows the patterns

  • @acidbath32 Which is exactly what my comment above is talking about, lol... Polyrhythms are simple if you know the pattern, or just memorize it from hearing it 100 times.

  • @Stacy420 Idk man, its pretty damn technical. Not every rhythm is blindingly fast, but the way they use polyrhythms is pretty damn hard to pull off, especially live.

  • @Stacy420 Maybe Bleed is a bit on the technical side?

  • @Stacy420 I thought at the end of your paragraph you were using Deicide as an example, and I agreed, until I re-read, and I still agree none-the-less (save for Deicide's first four albums, two of which are gold).

  • WE ARE THE DEED WE ARE THE DEED WE ARE THE DEED

  • @RiverOfSteel reality

  • @2013bookhead not to get involved in your troll debate on whos the better internet guitarist, but playing a 7 or 8 string is about style, not difficulty. its just a matter of what your used to. a beginner could pick up an 8 string and learn it just fine, all the theory is exactly the same.

  • @EnslaveTheEmos Come on, don't tell him that, he thinks he knows everything about guitar, you hurt his feelings.

  • lol

  • totala mad bro

  • what are the first and second songs?

  • REAAAALLIITY. REALITY.......reality....

  • Hahahahaha
